  I find it interesting as well that games are to be played until one team reaches 11 points. So, there are winners and losers. It is a competitive game.

  It also sounds rather organized. As in, it is a Bethel league for Bethelites. So, again, competitive play.

  Both are discouraged/forbidden by the Watchtower when it comes to the rank and file in playing organized sports. Also, what happened to the misused scripture "Bodily training is beneficial for little..." I always remember being told my free time was better used in studying or in the ministry.

  Conditions of Watchtower Baptism

  i understand that there are 80 to 100 questions that would-be witnesses must answer correctly before they can be considered eligible for "christian baptism".

  however i have noticed that none of the questions relate to the 607destruction, the 1914 invisible presence and enthronement, or even the 1919 appointment of the faithful slave.. now some may feel my question is ridiculous, but bear with me.. will jehovah's witnesses baptize someone who answers all 100 questions satisfactorily, but rejects 607, 1914 and 1919 and the events the watchtower associates with these dates if they agree not to express their rejection to others?.

  In the book of Acts chapter 8 Phillip is commanded to go and preach the gospel to an Ethiopian eunuch was was reading the Book of Isaiah. After giving the gospel of Jesus to the eunuch by Phillip the eunuch asked to be baptized and was.

  How many Watchtower publications did the eunuch study with Phillip prior to baptism?

  How many of the 100 questions did the eunuch get correct?

  What assembly/convention was the eunuch baptized at?

  1985 and baptism...I wish I had read this before today

  i am posting a link as to being legally bound to jw rules at time of baptism.

  i only did a quick skim, but what i gathered is interesting, and what it says about 1985 may be of use to some hoping to just fade and not be bothered.

  in 1985, the questions were changed at baptism for legal purposes so they could have causation to defend themselves should you decide to sue for whatever reason.

  Interesting.

  I was baptized after 1985 and the newer legalized questions were administered to me. I do have an interesting question to add to the discussion -

  What if the baptismal candidate was a minor at the time of baptism and unable to give legal consent to enter into a contract with a corporation?

  Should laws be passed compelling the church to report crimes?

  if laws were passed compelling the church to report crimes to government authorities and there was no legal way around it and the church was forced to comply and did comply, nobody would confess their sins.

  it wouldn’t stop people from committing crimes, they just wouldn’t tell their church about it.

  Where I live, failure to report a felony is a crime punishable up to one year in the county jail. There are no provisions in this law that exclude any person. All child abuse crimes are also felonies where I live.

  So, it's not a matter of if it should or not, but why isn't this way everywhere?

  Useless Majors

  i was passing through a very liberal college town recently during rush hour.

  so, i decided to stop for some refreshment at a fine-looking establishment and wait for traffic to die down.

  a young waitress waited on me who probably could have been stevie nicks twin when she was young.

  I'd buy and read a book on pre-historic agriculture. I would even take a class with some hands-on training under that topic. I would not accrue massive student loan debt for it.

  I think a big reality goes with this phrase - "Those who cannot do teach."

  It seems certain degree programs set the students up to simply keep the program alive. Even then, how many professors of pre-historic agriculture are needed?

  If anyone find a book on pre-historic agriculture please send me the title and author. Thanks!

  Dumb 'experiences' you were told as a JW

  this one stands out in my mind.

  it was reported that 'a brother', unnamed of course, was out in field service and was set upon by a pack of vicious dogs.

  he made it back to the car and was injured quite badly with his arms, hands and leg bleeding heavily.

  Did becoming a JW influence you to give up something you enjoyed ?

  when i was a teenager a younger fellow workmate was involved in the sport of judo.i got interested and went along to a number of sessions and took to it like a sponge to water ,and as a sport i was happy participating in.. not that much longer another workmate was getting re-activated in the religion of jw`s.

  which i had never heard o before and then got interested in that .. conflict : was judo a sport that was compatible with j.w beliefs?

  sadly i decided it was not and stopped any further involvement.. to this day i resent that decision i made back then .and i`m 82 years old now.. it was a sport i was comfortable doing and i enjoyed it.and i gave it up because of the religion .who knows what i may have achieved had i continued with it.

  Here's something funny about the Watchtower and Judo - I took Judo as well as a Witness. I found an Awake! article entitled "Take Judo!" So I did.

  The problem is the constant flip-flopping on things like this. One day it's "Take Judo!" and the next is "All self-defense related things are learning war."

  I remember reading this phrase several times in Watchtower publications - "How marvelous are body has been designed."

  No. No it's not. In fact, the human body is more then sufficient evidence of evolution. A "Grand Creator" would not make such a delicate, feeble creature so prone to death and failure.

  Watchtower lawyer fined for misleading the court

  watchtower lawyer david brumley has been fined for misleading the court during the discovery process of the montana case.

  the result was another 17 months of the courts time and the plaintiff having to produce evidence that wtpa did have a pivotal role in congregational business, which brumley had denied hoping that the courts would take his word for it.
