Dear young JWs: Now is the time to go to college and earn a degree in engineering, software engineering, and Information Technologies. The end may be near, but you can use you education both now and after Armageddon. Just ask Tony Morris. Rampapo will need you both not AND after Armageddon.

WT Lawyers response in Hines v. Watchtower CSA case 2/11/22
by iloowy.goowy inthis is the link to the memorandum of law in the hines v. watchtower csa case filed last friday 2/11/22.https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/viewdocument?docindex=vzujfhgk0etye/azc/kcbg==.
it is the wt lawyers reply in the trial where deborah hines accuses wt hierarchy even governing body members of continuing to employ a known child abuser, her own dad, at bethel because he was indispensable to them in video-production.
the slimy wt excuses start on page 7 of 28 where, as far as my non-legally mind can understand, the wt lawyers say the governing body can't get sued because they're not a corporation, nor are they mandated reporters of abuse, meaning they don't have to say anything by law even if they know a crime has occurred.. the slimy wt lawyers are also pretty good at playing with words to hide the fact that the governing body does run the business of the watchtower but from behind the scenes.

I did a little research. Only 28 states seem to have mandatory reporting laws for clergy. New York is not one of them.
Keep in mind if the child abuse took place in one of those 28 states the local elders would still be required to report the child abuse to authorities. The fact that the Watchtower ordered the local elders not to report would not be a defense to prosecution.

The only "Last Days" are the last days the 8 members of the Governing Body have left before the die.
That brings up another point - at the same Annual Meeting, didn't Sam Herd speak about how all the "annointed" would have to die before Armageddon? Herd also stated that Witnesses shouldn't be afraid of that because Jehovah would not abandon them. That's code for the "Helpers" will replace the Governing Body.
That leads me to believe that is the Governing Body were to all die in around the same time that the Watchtower would be run 100% by "Other Sheep" and anyone still claiming to be of the annointed would be told they are not. That would have to come about.
I have to believe that one of the reasons for the doctrinal change that only the Governing Body are the "Faithful Slave" is because they do not want to risk other Witnesses who claim to be of the annointed to try and take the reigns. My father was disfellowshipped back in 1992. He was not told why, but I found out from a friend who attended a party in which one of the elders on my father's committee was present. That elder blurted out, "We just had to disfellowship someone for apostasy." No one else was disfellowshipped at the time so it narrows down the who.
At my father's judicial committee he was asked, "As a brother who claims to be of the annointed, do you also claim to be part of the Faithful and Discreet Slave class?" My father answered, "Yes." Keep in mind that this was 1992. The official stance of the Watchtower was just that even though Witnesses tended not to think so.
Sorry to hijack the thread, but I believe this is related to both Herd and Morris' talks at the Annual Meeting.

JWs don’t use the apocryphal, yet source them
by Anony Mous inso a quick little note about a few things that i recently learned.
if you ever had the yellow book of bible stories, there was the story of enoch, also repeated in other watchtower publications, about the angels fathering giants and being a menace on earth.
now if you look at the nicean bible, which is the wtbts selection of the bible, it mentions enoch twice and only has a very brief passage about nephilim and ben elohim.

Maccabees was one of several books Martin Luther wanted removed from the Bible. All the books that were removed, and those that were not, upset Luther. These books had content that went against his Five Solas.
I believe Maccabees contain a passage where Jews were praying for the dead. Luther did not like this.

There are 2 street signs in the world of JWs who abuse "brotherly love" for self gain -
I always find it amazing how there are people who have no shame in taking from the goodwill and charity of others, but downright refuse to help anyone who needs it. As if it is someone else's responsibility to help.

No. Revelation was about cryptic references to events that affected early Christians under the Roman empire during the first and early second centuries. Relevance to anything now, or to the future, is exactly zero.
This person gets it.

by pistolpete inthis was before my time, but there was this post that had 308 comments testifying that the best thing of being a jehovah witness back in the day was the convention's meals.

The breakfast sandwich was an egg McMuffin called muffin n egg, it to this day was the best egg McMuffin I've ever eaten.
That's the dang truth!
I also liked the ham and cheese sandwich. I ate at one Saturday afternoon session.
The Shasta soda was nasty. Imagine gargling with salt water and then swallowing instead of spitting it out.

Something tells me that the Watchtower will suddenly get new light on disfellowshipping before this spreads.
Hopefully it includes a policy change that states if a person is legally considered a minor they are not eligible to be baptized. That would prevent minors from being disfellowshipped.

Counseling for Ex JW
by Iamallcool ini have been thinking that it would be very nice if the us government would be willing to fund ex jw counseling services all over the united states.
i understand that many counselors do not really understand ex jw issues but we can educate them if we have additional funds, etc…if someone here is willing to write a letter to their local representative about it, that would be great!

I do not think government funding is required to accomplish the same thing. I have seen users on this site state that their therapist/counsellor was no familiar with JW practices/doctrine. I experienced the same thing when I saw a counsellor.
Perhaps a licensed counsellor/therapist could work with the eJW community in preparing a course of a book for counsellors to refer to when helping exJWs.
