  The phrase "one of Jehovah's Witnesses"

  jws don't say, "i am a jehovah's witness.".

  instead, they say, "i am one of jehovah's witnesses.".

  what does the second way of saying it convey that the first does not?.

  "The messiah" was to come from the "line of David" right??

  a huge realization hit me the other day while listening to a podcast that discussed the "lineage of jesus".. according to the bible, "the messiah" was to come through king davids lineage.

  but, if you wade through the entire chapter of matthew that lists "son of ...son of...son of...etc", it becomes obvious that jesus did not come through davids line at all!.

  in fact, that lineage lists jospeh (mary's husband) as being in davids line.

  I thought Jewish linage was matriarchal. That being said, it wouldn't matter what tribe Joseph was a descendant. It only mattered what Mary's lineage was.

  Michael Cohen was convicted of Perjury in Congressional Testimony.

  Here our some things you should know about how Federal criminal cases are carried out.

  1) The United States Attorney's Office meets may meet with a Defendant represented by legal counsel in what is called a "Proffer Meeting." This is where a deal is set out that, in exchange for evidence that would assist the government in prosecuting another person, the Defendant receives leniency at sentencing. Michael Cohen was sentenced to 36 months in the US Bureau of Prisons. That means he Cohen had nothing of value to offer at his Proffer Meeting.

  2) Prior to sentencing a Defendant in a Federal criminal case is interviewed by a member of the U.S. Probation Department. This is to complete a pre-sentence report. This report is given to the District Judge to assist in the sentencing of a Defendant. In Cohen's pre-sentence report it states that Cohen told the Probation Officer he wanted a high ranking position withing the Trump administration. Cohen stated to the Probation Officer that he resented the fact that Trump offered him no position at all in the adminstration.

  3) During yesterday's hearing Cohen was asked, under oath, if he was supposed to get appointed to a position in Trump's administration. Cohen answered "No" and went on to say that he never asked or wanted a position. Cohen stated he wanted to be independent and continue his work as a "fixer."

  Michael Cohen is a convicted felon. That alone impeaches any testimony he offers. Michael Cohen was convicted of a crime of moral turpitude. That also impeaches any testimony he offers. Michael Cohen was convicted for committing perjury before a congressional hearing. At yesterday's hearing Michael Cohen, under oath, lied when asked if he wanted to received a position in the Trump administration.

  Yesterday's hearing was nothing more than grand theater of at a Shakespearean order. It was a tax payer funded TV ad for the political elite class for the purpose to undermine the legitimacy of the Trump presidency.

  there was a little bit of discussion on another thread about the results of the recent tax changes in usa.

  i decided to compare whether or not the changes were favoring the lower-income class versus the middle class.

  the family that i inputted into the system was a married couple with four minor dependents, their income was $44000.00 annually and they paid $2100.00 in taxes during the year.. after completing the calculations, this family is getting a refund of $9981.00; the bulk of it are earned income credit $2191.00 and additional child credit $5600.00.

  This is why I am a huge proponent of abolishing the U.S. Tax Code and the IRS in exchange for a flat tax. Everyone and every corporation pays a flat percentage in income tax to the U.S. government. The only deductions should be for donations to charities.

  Conversely, I don't think people she be allowed to eat their cake and have it too.

  If it is solely up to the woman to decide whether or not to keep the child, the mother should solely be responsible for the child. Men having to pay child support for a child the mother decided to keep should be abolished.

  i'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this.. they're digging themselves a great hole here, in about 30 years time they'll be claiming this video was a mere "speculation" and that "some people" got the wrong ideas..

  A couple of things I noted:

  1) Official statement that "True worship" was restored in 1919. This de-legitimizes Charles Taze Russell and all his work.

  2) Morriss stays the phrase "After prayerful consideration" no less than 3 times before revealing that the Governing Body identifies Russia as the King of the North. So, 8 guys pray and then considered. Whatever they come up with after that is to be accepted as true.

  3) I have been out for over a decade, but I believe this is the first time the Watchtower stated if any of the 144,000 would be on Earth at Armageddon which is a "no". That creates a real dilemma for them with increased partakers.

  Jehovah's Witnesses is a religion based on the business of selling books. That is why the term "Publisher" is used when they refer to a fellow member. Businesses collect data on sales to help make decisions. Jehovah's Witnesses literally were door-to-door salesmen for the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. That was until the 1990s.

  Fears over losing their religious tax exempt status in the U.S. caused the Watchtower to change its model. Instead of selling their printed products, publishers were to "place" them with interested ones and then make that person aware of the donation process supporting the "World Wide Work." This model failed as a business plan.

  As a result we saw many changes come and come quickly. Hardbound books were replaced with paperbacks. Watchtower and Awake magazines were reduced in the number of issues published and the number of pages. A new digital format has been adopted requiring members to download publications on their own devices.

  Why the change again? For legal reasons. I see the same being true with maintain records on members with the recent privacy laws being passed in Europe. I could see members having to log into an account and report their activities with the servers being based in Wallkill, New York.

  The perfect tax return is $0.00.

  This is the same reason I know longer escrow property taxes and insurance through my mortgage company. Mortgage companies over estimate what you will be paying in property taxes. The money you pay into your escrow account goes into an interest bearing account. Come tax time, the mortgage company pays your property taxes and you end up getting a modest check for the amount you overpaid.

  What about the money made in interested on your escrow account? Oh, the mortgage company keeps that. Literally, they make money off of your money.

  The same is true of federal income tax. You pay in quarterly. That money goes into an interest bearing account. Come tax time you find out you over paid. You get a refund of money you could have kept and spent, but the government keeps the interest made off your over payment.

  Donald J. Trump is no angel. Trump probably has committed crimes. I just know the political elite class of Washington D.C. is throwing whatever they can against the wall to see what sticks to de-legitimize Trump's presidency. It's not just the political elite class, but it is also all their statist buddies - Hollywood, media advocates (formally known as big media news press), educrats, etc.

  Donald J. Trump is a crude and arrogant man. I personally do not like him as a person. However, I will not argue with the fact that the U.S. has done better over the past two years of his term than the last eight under the last guy.

  What sealed the deal for me on this was the pointless indictments of Russian private citizens for attempting to sway the outcome of the Presidential election. The US has not extradition treaty with Russia. So DOJ knew it was all for stage theater. That was until one of the Russian troll farms retained legal counsel, showed up in court with a Defendant's Response, and demanded discovery.

  The moment that happened the Defendant immediately had a right to discovery. What did DOJ turn over as discovery to the Defendant - nothing! DOJ told the court they believed they didn't have to turn over anything because the Defendant was never served a copy of the suit.

  That's when I knew this whole this is as it appears - a witch hunt.

  The Russians have been meddling in US elections since the end of World War II. The evidence shows that the Russians involved spread misinformation about both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. The desired result was not one or the other winning the election, but rather dividing the American people. Mission accomplished.
