  in minneapolis, the city council has voted to abolish the police.. many cities want to either disband or defund the police.

  black lives matter and other groups have influenced citizens and neighborhoods to get rid of police and their authority.

  is anyone really supportive of removing the police or cutting out law enforcement through the budget?

  1. George Floyd is killed cruelly and callously by Minneapolis Police Officer and fellow night club security officer Derek Chauvin. Chauvin is video recorded with his knee in Floyd's back while Floyd is handcuffed and proned out on the street.
  2. Black Lives Matter organizes protests in Minneapolis, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, etc.
  3. Protesters call the incident proof of systemic racism and call for the defunding of police departments.
  4. The media tells us what "defund the police" means, but fails to ask the actual protesters what the mean by it (see MPD150)
  5. US Congress decides their needs to be police reform and drafts a bill to ban "choke holds".

  Here are the facts to date:

  There has been no evidence offered that Derek Chauvin Murdered George Floyd because Chauvin is a racist. A callous person who has no business being a police officer? Yes. Racist? No evidence to date. However, the narrative pushed is that this incident was definitely about race.

  Major protests are held in the streets of urban centers that have the following in common -

  • City and County elected officials are all Democrats
  • City and County elected officials are primarily all black
  • Police Chiefs/Commissioners are appointed by Democrats and are primarily black
  • Most the States that these cities are in have governors that are also Democrats
  • Most of these cities' police departments are made up of primarily minority races

  Yet the protesters scream "Where is our Federal government is all this?" Fingers are pointed at the President and the majority Republican Senate.

  State criminal laws fall under the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, often referred to as "States' Rights". The enforcement of State law is the responsibility of State and local law enforcement agencies. Laws and policies for the day-to-day operation of State and local law enforcement are set by:

  • State Legislature
  • County and City Councils

  So taking this from the top...

  A man is Murdered in Minneapolis, Minnesota by a Minneapolis Police Officers. The City of Minneapolis and the State of Minnesota has been governed by Democrats for decades. The State of Minnesota and the City Council of Minneapolis is responsible for the hiring of police officers and setting police policy. However, this mess needs to be fixed by the Federal government.

  In addition, the media tells us that "Defund the Police" means reallocate tax funds from police departments to social services while protesters and their organizers tell us "Defund the Police means 'Abolish all enforcement of laws'."

  we used to use this scripture to show that there was going to be a future resurrection.

  but recently i got to thinking about it.

  if the apostle paul was right in saying that the righteous on death would be changed in the twinkling of an eye from earthly life to heavenly glory why would there be a future resurrection needed for the righteous?

  The afterlife doctrine of the Israelites changed over time. It was affected by the surrounding nations. At first, the Israelites did not believe in an afterlife. Obedience to YHWH was rewarded by a happy, prosperous life. You may recall the Sadducees did not believe in a resurrection.

  Later they changed their beliefs and adopted the doctrine that in the future all the faithful would be brought to life on Earth in fleshly bodies. You may remember that the Sadducees tried to trick Jesus in regards to their question about a woman who was married to all seven brothers. They asked Jesus which brother would be married to the woman after they were all resurrected.

  I am actually shocked that the Watchtower has put other translations of the Bible on their website. I recently read the entire New Testament in the NIV translation. Very eye opening in regards to what the Bible says versus the Watchtower's version of the Bible.

  A question about the contemporary generation teaching following a conversation with a JW apologist

  i would like to ask the ex-jws on this site to put their ‘apologists hat’ back on for a moment, so that i can go through the overlapping generation teaching in an attempt to make sense of it.

  i apologise if these points have already been addressed on this site.a quick background for the reason for my request… having never confronted a jw apologist on the topic, i recently engaged with a jw regarding the official understanding of a ‘generation’ and unfortunately he didn’t have an answer to the points i was making.

  i was left a little confused as to what the official jw response would/should be.so i was hoping that my thoughts below might be considered from an apologist’s perspective.the point in question relates to this section of the watchtower article below from 2008, as well as the jw.org video explanation of the overlapping generation:---:w08 2/15[box on page 25] can we calculate the length of “this generation”?the word “generation” usually refers to people of various ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period or event.

  Not just with Jehovah's Witnesses, but all Christian denominations there have been non-Biblical beliefs introduced that were later defended by self interpretation of the Bible (e.g. see origin of Hell fire). This is a great example.

  First, the Watchtower gave us the 1914 doctrine. Looking at the book of Matthew it gave Witnesses hope that Armageddon would before the generation that saw 1914 ended. Then - the generation ended and no Armageddon.

  As 1914 is a core doctrine of Witnesses, the Watchtower could not allow this belief to be proved wrong. So the goal posts were moved with a new Watchtower definition of the word generation. In a sense, the Watchtower changed the word to simply mean "a time period". However, this is very nonsensical.

  The Catholic Church decided to magically deem the title of "prostitute" on Mary Magdalene. The reason for this was for the fact that people were believing that she was an Apostle or at least of great importance. The Church was not going to let a woman have such an honor.

  Apostolic succession is a real thing. Matthias was chosen to replace Judas Iscariot. Further proof comes from non-biblical Christian writing prior to Constantine creating the Holy Roman Church.

  The Protestant movement under Martin Luther rejected any writings outside the Bible. In addition, Luther had several Old Testament books removed from the Bible and was unsuccessful in getting Hebrews, James, and Revelation removed from the New Testament. Luther wanted all those books removed because the contradicted his teachings of By Grace Alone and By Faith Alone.

  Covid19 "Suggestions" (aka rules)

  so a co just said in his talk yesterday that anyone that doesn't follow the branch's covid19 "suggestions" is disobedient and the type of person that won't survive armageddon.

  didn't the letter say that each head of household would choose for himself how to apply the "suggestions"?.

  the funny thing is there are other countries where none of these "suggestions" have been given..

  I realize I have been out for over a decade, but as previously mentioned, just about every person in that photo would have received a strong counselling and a threat of removal as a pioneer for 1) the way they are dressed, and 2) the way they are acting. If I had shown up to Pioneer School wearing a purple shirt and a bow tie I would be told I had 20 minutes to go home and change. I would also be told to thing and pray over how serious representing Jehovah is.

  Not only am I no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses, but I don't think they really exist anymore. I got the guilting of a text with a link to the "Return to Jehovah" video. Return? How? The organization I left no longer exists.
