Do Jw's Dress up in meeting clothes for Zoom meetings?
by jeremiah18:5-10 ini am just curious if anyone knows whether the "friends" still are required to wear "meeting clothes" for attending meetings through zoom?
such emphasis on dressing in a godly manner over the decades, would be interesting if some attend in pajamas or their work clothes, no makeup, etc....

Yes. Just like the Israelites put on expensive garb and Jesus told his disciples they needed to purchase regal purple Roman robes while carrying on in their ministry. Oh, wait...

Midweek Meeting looooooooong prayers.
by Davros inone thing that aggravates me is long concluding prayers, especially at the midweek meeting.
you work all day, rush home, grab a quick bite, dress up in meeting clothes.
then, go to the meeting.

When praying, do not say the same things over and over again as the people of the nations do, for they imagine they will get a hearing for their use of many words. Matthew 6:7 NWT

Romans 13:1-7 also states that the earthly authorities are God's ministers and God gives them a sword. In the books of Acts the first gentile Christian convert was a Roman soldier. Cornelius was a Roman Centurion. The Apostle Peter converted Cornelius. At no time did Peter tell Cornelius that he must resign from being a soldier before becoming a Christian. Yet, Witnesses will not baptize an active duty military member.

The most realistic and accurate part of this non-sense is that all the Biblical personas giving the parts are not Christian. Not just because all the Christians from the Bible would be in heaven. No, rather the Watchtower is obsessed with the Old Testament, which is ironic for a "Christian" religion.
The funny part is the "Latest Video". Where is the electricity coming from to run the equipment to record and then play this video?
Also, I thought Witnesses stopped referring to the 3 Hebrews by their Babylonian names.

Could Boris "save the NHS & lives" by BANNING Covid 19?
by BoogerMan inobviously not, but he could do so by banning an even greater killer - tobacco.
smoking has been identified as the single greatest cause of preventable illness and premature death in all 4 nations of the u.k. .
annually, in scotland approximately 10,000 die, in wales, 5000, and in n.i.

In the U.K. 7 million people a year live with Cardio Vascular Disease costing the taxpayers 6.8 billion pounds a year. Coronary Heart Disease is the leading cause of death in the U.K. 1 person dies every minute from CHD in the U.K.
Clearly the government should impose through force a ban on eating anything that does not comply with a strict vegan diet. People must live even if their life brings no joy or happiness. It's the most important thing, ever.
I always thought it hypocritical of the Watchtower for disfellowshipping tobacco users, but then not batting an eye when the whole car group takes their door-to-door ministry break at the local McDonald's. Polluting your body, a temple of God, with tobacco - wrong. Polluting our body with 1300 calorie Big Mac, fries, and a Coke - that's quite alright.

1 Corinthians 15:26

Those who cannot accept the reality of their own inevitable death cling onto religion, whether an Egyptian Pharaoh, a Hindu, Buddhist, a Mormon, Islamist, Jew, Christian, or any other.
I will have to disagree with you on this statement, in part. Yes, the human animal has higher consciousness and is aware that death is coming. This is highly disturbing to most humans. Especially if raised in a culture that teaches the game of Black & White as in the form of "White Must Win."
In the game White Must Win people are taught you have to live. Live a long time. Cling to life at all costs.
In Hinduism and especially Buddhism (which is not a religion) White Must Win is not taught. Buddhism literally teaches the opposite. Buddhism teaches not to cling to anything and accept all life eventually ends, but is replaced with new life.
It is the suffering from clinging to life that sprang forth the concepts of religion and an afterlife. Most religion teaches you have to live your short life in a certain way to insure a happy eternal afterlife. Buddhism teaches you to not dwell on the past or be anxious over the future. Rather, Buddhism teaches you how to get the most out of the wonderful experience of life by truly experiencing the only time we actually live in - the present.

Education vs JW?
by galaxia_moon ini am 15 years old and recently just doubting this whole religion that was introduced to me when i was very small from a very good family friend.
doubt obviously comes with shame and guilt and i hate those feelings because it feels like i'm betraying this whole organization that i grew up in.... anyways, i've been doing research and found that jehovah's witnesses dislike/shun kids who attend colleges & universities that are more than 4 years long?
have you heard of this?

Galaxia_Moon:
Is getting a "higher education" (e.g. - going to college) discouraged by the Watchtower? Yes. So much so, if your father is a Witness and is an elder or servant, he will be removed and lose all of his privileges. You will probably never have any privileges given to you.
As you can see from the responses, there are generations worth of former JWs here who were told the same thing as you when they were your age. Many are reaching their retirement years or are already there. If they had not prepared for their later years in life they may be facing a harsh life.
Remember that in the Bible the members of the first century Christian congregation sold all their property and belongings and gave the money to the congregation. They lived communally. Do you see Witnesses living communally? When a member of your congregation falls on hard economic times, has any family in your congregation told such ones "Come live with us. We will feed and clothe you. We will give you a bed to sleep in. We will pay your doctor bills"? Does your body elders ever make a motion to give congregation funds to help the homeless, hungry, of sick either in your congregation or outside?
You know the answer to those questions is an emphatic "No". In fact, suggesting such thing will raise eyebrows. Yet that is exactly what they are command to do in the Bible.
The Watchtower wants to have its cake and eat it too. They want you to live like the first Christians and not pursue education or a career. Conversely, they refuse to assist anyone (including their own) in providing for their needs.
