Michael Palin: North Korea - Similarities In N.Korean and JW Mentality
by pale.emperor indid anyone catch michael palin's travel documentary in north korea?
it was a fascinating insight into such a secretive and controlled country.
totalitarian, suppressed and yet i found a few similarities to jw mentality.. particularly, this segment, where michael asks his handler about the limitations on freedom she has.

Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me you can't see a thing
Just call my name 'cause I'll hear you scream

Fruits of the spirit
by asp59 into all that been in betel service.
as 1440.000 are suppose to rule like kings they must also be an example of putting the fruits of the spirit in there daily life(charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity (kindness), goodness, longanimity (forbearance), mildness (gentleness), faith, modesty, continency (self-control), and chastity.).
have you meet a gb member or other from the 144.000 in betel when you were there that you could easy see that this person wakes up in the morning and is determined to apply fruits of the spirit in there life?

Anyone can display the fruit of the Spirit. All they have to do is put other people's interest first. Even prominent Christian pastors have scolded their fellow Christians that they have seen their non-Christian neighbors displaying the fruit of the Spirit better then their own parishioners.

It is "fruit of the spirit". Love, joy, peace, long suffering, self control, etc. are all a composite. It's all of them.
If the Holy Spirit is in a person, working with that person, that person displays all those qualities. You cannot artificially attempt to display them. I always hated it when I heard Witnesses say things like, "This week I am going to work on this fruit of the spirit and next week this fruit of the Spirit."

have you heard anything ?
by lancelink ini was a witness from grade school ( 1976) until 2007. i seem to remember an important aspect that was always talked about at the hall as being a fact.they would say that "the rocks themselves would cry out" if the public preaching work was to stop,,,,, all i've seen and heard these past few months are the witnesses complaining about the witnessing work coming to a halt.but i've not heard one rock crying .. .

A letter was received at my residence this week with a return address to the local Kingdom Hall. It contained a hand written letter asking if I knew why God allowed suffering. Instead of answering the question, the letter writer told me to go to a website for the answer. Unfortunately I believe very little I find on the internet and, if the question were that important to the letter writer, the letter writer should have written the answer in the letter.
To be fair, maybe the letter writer doesn't know the answer. Perhaps it was just a form of snail mail click bait. I am not sure.

Back in the day when "District Assemblies" were just advertisements for new Watchtower publications. Those flyers remind me of ads in old Mad Magazine (New Super Whoopy Cushion! Only 50c! Cheap!)

What a wonderful time---for faders to fade away!
by eyeuse2badub ini’ve been thinking about it for a few weeks and i’m sort of surprised that no one else has introduced this topic!.
what better time than now for a fader to fade?
no meetings, no field service, no elder visits, no assemblies, no convention, and no other bullshit busy work going on.

Dressing up for meetings in general is not Bible based let alone for tuning into meetings from your living room via Zoom. Jesus and his disciples just dressed as they normally did. They didn't go out and by fine purple or scarlet robes to parade around in to accomplish Jesus' ministry.
If Jesus came to Earth in the form of a man today he would be wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and Chuck Taylors on his feet.

The first question to ask is: "Who said Jehovah doesn't like <insert topic here>?"
The second question to ask is: "How does the person/persons who said Jehovah doesn't like <insert topic here> come to that understanding?"
One of the main problems within Christianity, especially since the Reformation Movement, has been the birth of "Bible Christians". These are people who say, "I can read the Bible and use my power of reasoning to figure things out." In turn, they create their own version of what is "truth". In short, this is the very definition of idolatry. In fact, one might say the worst for of idolatry for those who claim to be followers of Christ is making their own version of Him. One author called it "Jesus in a Box."
Even the Apostles Paul and John suffered from this. Here Paul is writing a congregation and starts going off on how men shouldn't wear hats at spiritual gatherings and have short hair with women doing the opposite. Seriously?
Read "What Did Jesus Really Say - How Christianity Went Astray" by Peter Cayce. It's a quick read (75 pages).

Testing For Transparency - An Honesty Check
by Vanderhoven7 inplease share any other yes/no questions that might fit with the following 10. also feel free to critique the 10 listed.. testing for transparency.
there are some facts that jehovah's witnesses are reticent to divulge to new prospects.
you may want to find out very early in your discussions if the witnesses you are studying with are open and truthful about their organization's doctrine and practices by asking them a series of sensitive (potentially embarrassing) questions about their personal beliefs.

1 Paul, a slave of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ according to the faith of God’s chosen ones and the accurate knowledge of the truth that is according to godly devotion 2 and is based on a hope of the everlasting life+ that God, who cannot lie,+ promised long ago; 3 but in his own due time, he made his word known through the preaching entrusted to me+ according to the command of our Savior, God; 4 to Titus, a genuine child according to the faith we share:
May you have undeserved kindness and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior. - 1 Titus 1:1-4 NWT
According to the Bible, God cannot lie. Do you believe a God of truth and honesty would allow his alleged appointed representatives on Earth to put his name on inaccurate information as some sort of stop gap or make weight until He is ready to reveal a truth, which may or does invoke unnecessary suffering or death upon those who accept it as truth?
