Dreading the new system of things
by Addison0998 inwas i the only one who secretly dreaded the new system of things a little bit when i was a believing witness?
of course i felt very guilty, because of all the sick and heartbroken people who needed a perfect world to live in.
but there are a lot of nice parts of life i was going to secretly miss.

I remember praying that Armageddon didn't come until the new Star Wars movies were released. Now I wish just the opposite.
I remember hearing all sorts of loony tunes things being said by Witnesses about the "New System". I know it is all fantasy now, but back then I would think to myself, "Don't you understand what life is going to be like? There will be no -
- Hot water
- Electricity
- Air conditioning
- Gas powered engines
- Grocery stores or restaurants
- Clothing stores
- etc."
I laugh when I see these Watchtower videos made for conventions showing everyone clean shaven and wearing clean, pressed, modern clothing. It will be more like medieval times, but with a meatless diet consisting of boiled vegetables. If that's "Paradise" please kill me at Armageddon Jehovah!

Forever in a world with garbage music like this? I'll pass. I'll take a normal human life span with some Zeppelin and Hendrix over this.

Movies that make you cry?
by new boy inthere have been many but i had a total melt down at the end of sophie's choice.
i hadn't cried in years before i saw that movie in in 1982. i was still very much a jw at the time.
i have no idea where the pain and sorrow came from, maybe it was the fact there are things people have gone through that we have defied all reason logic.

Can you ever see a time when Govt`s of this world will attempt to abolish all religions ?
by smiddy3 inwe are now in the 21st century of our common era with its insights into the potential of what can be achieved in the near future to benefit mankind for years to come .. the co-operation of governments around the world on so many levels has never been better than it is today and it is at least encouraging to see this .. whether it has to do with the climate , the environment ,food production ,safe water for all ,and the better health for all in the near future, and in the future space exploration.
however the problem today is still religion !
in its many extreme forms that divides us in no ways that politics divide us .. politicians learn how to compromise and work with their opponents for the greater good ,whereas religions don`t.. religions divide humans like no politicians ever did well not to the extremes religions will go anyway.. is their going to come a time in history when governments politicians say enough is enough and try attempt to abolish religion ?.

No. However, I do see a time in which mankind will eventually abandon religion.
Think of all the religions that have gone to the wayside due to Christianity converting the masses. Now, Christianity is starting to wain. Islam seems to be on the incline as the new convert-or-die religion replacing Roman Imperial Christianity.

New Kingdom Halls will continue to be paid for by the members of the local congregation in full. Once built, each congregation will have to pay $10.00 per publisher on the rolls per meeting. As the WBTS owns the Kingdom Hall, if the congregations fail to consistently pay for the use of the Hall for each meeting, the WBTS will merge the congregation(s) that use the Hall with congregations that use a different Hall and then sell the vacant Kingdom Hall.
This just follows the Assembly Hall model already in practice.

I'm in the United States of America.
Since 2012 I have been assigned to a task force that locates and apprehends fugitives who committed violent crimes. Most my cases involve child sex crimes or assaults where deadly force/weapons were used. I have made entry into homes where these fugitives were hiding and found Watchtower literature prominently displayed throughout the house.
The Witness who robbed the gas station and tried to kill a police officer fled to Mexico. His Witness family here would wire him money (which he mostly used on cocaine and prostitutes). The Witnesses in the congregation he attended assisted him by picking up the wire transfers for him because we had those locations under surveillance.

I my 20 year law enforcement career I cannot tell you how many Witnesses either I arrested or saw in the county lock up. Many were for aggravated sexual assault of a child and one robbed a gas station and tried to kill a police officer. Witnesses assisted him in avoiding apprehension. It didn't work.

You are responsible for your own personal safety. You don't get to shirk your duties and pass them on to someone else. A major problem in society today is statism. The government is not your friends. The government is not the answer to the ills of society.
People think because they pay taxes that now magically the government will make them safe. Safety is an illusion. It is not an illusion to trade for liberty or freedom. Just because someone lacks the intestinal fortitude to use force for a righteous purpose someone else should not lose the means to do so.
I have been a police officer for nearly 20 years. I absolutely detest when I hear the term "public safety". Police do not exist to protect the public. They exist to enforce the law so criminal offenders can be held accountable.
In a free society, the police if the public and the public is the police. Every able bodied citizen has constabulary and military duties to their community and nation. Hamstringing people by restricting possession and use of weapons goes directly against that.

Door-to-door preaching as surveillance
by john.prestor ini wanted to share some thoughts about jehovah's witnesses and their door-to-door preaching.
door-to-door preaching is supposedly about gathering converts, but in fact, as we frequently discuss, doesn't actually bring that many "sheep-like ones" in.
i want to suggest that a second meaning (what we call the latent meaning in academia) is facilitating surveillance of the congregants who attend some congregation.

The door-to-door ministry was a business model to sell publications of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. That is why members of the cult are referred to as "publishers". What changed?
The fear of losing their tax exempt status cause the WBTS to go to the donation program. This had an immediate economic impact on the WBTS. Members would purchase literature for cash from the WBTS. Then they would sell it to the public for the same price. Many members would then donate that money to the WBTS instead of using it to purchase additional literature. So, that Watchtower Joe Q. Publisher purchased for $0.25 made the WBTS $0.50. It probable cost the WBTS $0.05 to manufacture it.
I know for a fact that most publishers did not make sufficient donations to cover the cost of the literature. I donated $0.00 whenever I picked up magazines and books. This is what lead to the diminishing size and frequency of magazines, softcover books, and eventually download-only literature.
However, because the door-to-door ministry is the trademark of Witness activity they couldn't cease it. So, they switched over to showing videos on self-purchased tablets. In addition, cart Witnessing began.
I am sure that more than once Witnesses saw some inactive members house while out in the ministry and discovered holiday decorations. Of course the dry snitched on the inactive member. Yes, that member was probably disfellowshipped. This is not the purpose of door-to-door witnessing.
