Jehovah's Witnesses and the KILLER INSTINCT
by Terry ini have never known a female jehovah's witness who had the same "killer instinct" that some (if not many) of the brothers have.. what is this "killer instinct"?.
it is the interior motivation to attack and destroy somebody who disagrees with them.. .
primarily there are two manifestations of this.. 1.engaging in a "discussion" (door to door, debate, face-off with clergy, casual conversation with fellow jw's) about the bible, doctrine or true teaching.. 2.inside a judicial committe meeting--grilling a suspect and extracting a confession.

I think what you remember is an old school type jw that no longer exists, I mean nobody learns how to debate anything on the Ministry School today. I do remember back in the 80's a few old Anointed jws who would qualify as JW theologians, you know, who the elders would go to when they were stumped, and only if they were Male.
Re. Posing questions to those who you know just can't help spout their knowledge; yes I've been there. I asked a question about the flood in a room full of friends, and this one brother couldn't help it... Chomp! The question? So how did kangaroos get to Australia after Noah unbolted the big door?
It was decided by the know it all that they walked on a land ridge. That's what the Society have said!
It was interesting to just watch and listen to run of the mill witnesses' brains work with reality, when they realised that kangaroos are not found anywhere else.

i wonder what else is bullsh*t in those scrolls????.

THanks cantleave, I thought that is what it must be, but it shows the pyramids at 2500bce ish? Isn't that what the society put them at? I thought someone said the pyramids were 3500bce?

I got the dreaded call about the memorial
by thecrushed ini haven't been to the meetings in just about a full year and i get a call this morning from my dad inviting me.
his words were full of guilt trip.
he said he would like us to go as a family like i'm breaking it up if i don't go.

Nice thing you did for the homeless guy. I donated my time for the Help the Heroes, simply because that is what the good samaritan would have done. Regardless of how he felt about the war.

Interesting Findings from the ESA Plank Satellite
by cantleave inthe european space agency has produced a fascinating map of the universe using the super dooper plank satelite.. by stripping out dust emissions and radio frequencies from the milky way galaxy and more distant objects to leave just the afterglow of the big bang, an image of the microwave radiation (measured over a 15 month period) has been obtained that gives an extremely precise picture of the universe just 380,000 years after the big bang.. what we have learned from this data is the universe is some 80 million years older than we thought, the universe is made up of slightly more ordinary matter than was previously thought - 4.9% of all matter, up from 4.5% - and that there is less dark energy (which cosmologists don't understand) than previously thought and also it has an axis of evil (it appears the early universe was assymetrical) and a cold spot!!.
so we need to go back to the drawing board with regard to inflation theory to account for the asymmetry and cold spot.. this is why i love science, the more we learn, the more we have to learn.

How do I as a future "Therapist" help ex-jws that won't move on from the WT?
by booker-t ini am halfway through my master's program in psychology/sociology and plan on being a therapist/sounselor.
i left jw's in 1988 and i have never looked back.
i enjoy my life so much after getting my aa degree, then my ba degree, and now i will soon get my ma degree.
