What's Your Scenario For The Watchtower Corporation's Business Future? Will They Survive Much Longer In This Information Age?
by frankiespeakin inthe internet a marvel of modern science, mass communication, information at your finger tips is transforming peoples lives.
but alas the whole thing took the governing body by surprise as they continued to pin their hopes on childishly magical and wishful thinking bible interpetations.. the train has left the station and the governing body are just now comming to terms with it(the internet), while they still demonize it for its freeing power, and plethora of information that doesn't fit with their narrow world view they must still navigate a path that includes or give some recognition to this information source now becomming availible to all all over the world.. how will the watchtower survive all this and still be directed by a bunch of delusional old and odd geezers is beyound me to comprehend.
what say you?.

Can I make a JW/WT (facts only) brochure, and if I see a cart - stand next to it and hand them out? Mail some to everyone in my town - to inoculate them? -

It's very hard to know where to draw a very fine line. The Catholic confessional is the epitome of expectation of privacy AND religion. Truly if you take that away, real bad people may never seek any help at all and keep molesting.
I'm still waiting to see the Spotlight movie. But when more that a few people in a Church KNOWS and legally fight against charges (the confessional has been broke) are guilty of a cover-up.

Someone should track all these news stories from everywhere in the world, and mail them repeatedly to the Warwick City Counsel, What would happen if people (tens, hundreds, thousands) sent letters to the Warwick City Council, and/or started picketing Warwick Council meetings or every city function?
Not particularly that they are harboring pedophiles, but the people behind the cover-ups that condone it. It's not Rome. Just a small community that will show up world-wide for all the wrong reasons.

Critique of the lastest New World Translation?
by dontfitin inhi, i'm a long-time lurker who is still in due to family.
i'm hoping someone here can help me.. is there anywhere online that i can find a critique of the new bible revision?
one of the things that really got me was when i researched about the new world translation and found how there was no basis for adding jehovah's name in the new testament, and then other areas where they translated to accommodate their interpretation.

I'll have to look up the name, but about a year ago I watched a youtube video of a noted theologian, scholar, and translator. He very publicly threw down the gauntlet, and continuous letters, for 15 years to a public debate with the Watchtower translators that mangled the NWT for their obvious benefit.
The Watchtower has always refused citing "fear of the translators safety if their identities were known".
There were no actual translators.

Myth Dispelled! Leaving the Organization is NOT Leaving God
by LeftMyReligionToFindGod init's true, leaving the organization does not mean you leave god.
as someone who was raised in the "truth" i always heard the messaging that if you leave the organization you leave god and lose his protection.
after disassociating myself, i even believed that and began on a path of self-destructive behaviour as i was leaving behind every relationship i had ever known and very ill equipped to live in the "real world" growing up, i always felt there was a higher power and our purpose was more than living a few decades.

Well put from a first hand perspective.
The JW/WT are not a religion they are a CULT. They in fact have nothing to do with God. The cruel hate of the outside, shunning people who leave, say if you leave them you leave God is so wrong, hating, brainwashing, and manipulative. That is not God.
People should believe, or not believe, on their own terms. If you leave the cult - don't blame God. Blame those people for lying and manipulating. They have never spoke to God or on his behalf.
I'm 46. Growing up my church has never shunned anyone - ever ever. It is a very open and welcoming religion. NO ONE HAS ANY FEAR that they have to choose between freedom and family. That is F$%ING stupid - that has never been God. Come whenever you want. Don't come if you don't. Come share and compare notes if you wish to study. I'VE NEVER HAD A TIME SHEETS to prove anything. What does God need a time sheet for??? He knows. Why do you have to prove it to humans??? Never had time sheets to meet sales quotas for the WT - or are told it is the only way to make God happy. We never went door to door as slaves of the WT to shove beliefs on people who never asked for them. Uninvited guests SUCK and are a blight on society. We explore God and theology how we want - NOT dictated by any one (to control the herd) any told to read their repetitive repetitive retentive fake religion.. I've never heard of an Elder intervention/tribunal to kick people out because they force their human CULT rules. Frankly where to they get off claiming they speak for God? I think promising 12 dates for the, we promise we promise, the end of the world - God's has never taken their calls.
If a man makes claim to speak for me about things, and those claims turn out not to be true they are false prophets. False prophets will be killed. Why doesn't anyone get this? Russell promised promised, promised the end of the world would happen in 1914. It did not, oops, promise promise promise it will happen in 1915. Opps. Opps. God killed the false prophet in 1916. (I think God has a sense of humor - he waited for 1915 to come and go just to rub it in.)
The ONLY way JW/WT people can know God is to leave that CULT. Don't buy the snake oil. Don't drink the kool-aid. In fact you had better get out now - the end of the world is very very close and you don't want stand very close to, or admit that you even know or follow, the Watchtower and Jehovah's Witnesses - God already has a place for false prophets (and those door to door preaching their lies to trick petty) in Revelations - they will be the first to be cast into the lake of fire.

Ironically, Arius recanted every he that he claimed about "no Trinity" and begged to get back into the Catholic Church. He died just days before he was to rejoin the Church and confess false teaching. I guess Russell didn't read the last few chapters of the tale of Arius. -

The NWT is not a Bible. It stopped being once they just started changing any word/phrases they wanted to change the meanings. I have said it before. Arius. Arius was a rouge Catholic bishop that went far out there - to preach that Jesus was not God and there was no such thing as a Trinity. Factions of Christianity were getting out of hand. The Emperor Constantine ordered the Council of Nicaea (320 AD) to put and end to it and pick one. The Council was to pick and choose from all the gospels/books that became the New Testament. The every gospel/book, true or not, was chosen based on it's consistent support of the TRINITY.
Arius showed up and insisted his beliefs be included. They all kicked him out on his ass, banished him to the north, and ordered all of his writings and teachings to be burned. Arianism was a dead religion by 400 AD. ... Until Russell came along 14 centuries later and thought Arius was cool.
So the entire time the JW/WT has been teaching from a Jewish and Catholic book - that they hate. They have been trying to change words arbitrarily to try and resurrect Arius. The other branches of the tree - Adventists are still doing the same formed from Arianism groups.
Which is why JW/WT people are too stupid to read the Bible on their own (Russell's word) without his help. Russel wrote encyclopedia sets of instruction guides to prevent people from learning the true Bible.
It was shown in the first couple of NWT editions that the secret councils "re-interpreting" the Bible had no one that could speak Hebrew, Latin, or Greek. They just changed words to fit their beliefs. Russell was in court a few times on fraud charges and under testimony showed he on new a few numbers in Latin, Hebrew, and Greek - he never passed the seventh grade (and was largely didn't want anyone else to either).
It is no surprise they are still trying to avenge Arius be altering the meanings in the Bible. So the NWT is no longer a Bible. The NWT is nothing but a propaganda tool to enforce their beliefs with fake proof, and scare the hell out of people about Jews and Catholics out there - even though they wrote the Bible and call them apostates - which were Arius's last words as the door hit him in the ass on they way out.
Just ranting, but the Catholics have huge crosses in their churches - the JW/WT should have huge doors hanging up to mark the end of Arius.

Me too. Same situation. I was raised evangelical and she was a born-in JW/WT victim. We had worked for the same small company about 18 years ago - I was always fond of her. Each went on to other companies. We ran into each other at a business meeting a couple of years ago. Turns out since we had seen each other we both had been married, terrible marriages, and divorced. We started seeing each other.
I didn't know much about the JW/WT. I started doing a lot of readying trying to learn more about her situation. She had grown up in a neighbor with many kids - never paid attention to that one guy. Something happened and they dated for exactly 3 months and then was engaged for exactly 3 months. She swears it was not an arranged marriage - but that's pretty suspicious. No wonder it didn't work out.
She filed for "legal" divorce and it went through - no reason really necessary. She explained it to her Elders - very abusive emotionally/physically. They "permitted" her a divorce - but they still consider her married - she had taken her vows and promised God until death do us part. Now they both can never get remarried or ever be with someone else.
The more I read the worse it got. We dated for 2 years and she promised the whole time that everything would be fine. She knew everything would never work out. I was really lead on. She traveled a lot for work - or so I thought. I think was one of the volunteer working in Warwick - tho she claimed to be working in a casino in up state NY - traveling back and forth a lot.
(There was one slip that I always remember - she said she had many friends that had married "Christians". As if we must be different - and JW are not Christians as they claim.)
She had to choose between me and the JW/WT+family/friends.
We were in fact engaged for 1 day. She finally said Yes.
One of her brothers found out ,,, and turned her in. ??? She wrote to me and said thank you for f!#@ing up my entire life. It went down hill from there. We only talked on the phone a few times after. She was a completely different person - a brainwashed zombie. She suddenly began telling me that I only talk to her because I am just horny and wanted sex with her. It was not her brain in there.
So I tried to push the issue and prove to her that the JW/WT was a predatory cult and a hoax. Nothing to lose I guess. If she staid, they would never allow us to be together.
I haven't seen or heard from her for 6 months. So I stumbled upon this site and have found a lot of support and it has helped me to understand more.

I encourage all to promote the movie on others boards as well. It's a true and timely story. I'd like to hear the back story from the actors as to why they wanted to be in the movie. -

I just saw a commercial for a new movie coming out. Spotlight - about a newspaper exposing the cover-ups of the Catholic Church about child sexual abuse. Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo. In theaters soon.
I will wake people up to child sexual abuse in all religions.
No need to bury the lede: Spotlight is a masterpiece.
Director Tom McCarthy’s drama (**** out of four; rated R; opens Friday in New York, Los Angeles and Boston, nationwide Nov. 20) embraces both great cinema and even better journalism as it chronicles a Boston Globe investigative team’s real-life expose on child abuse by local priests and the Catholic Church cover-up that followed. Not only is it an amazingly crafted movie, it’s an important one as well.
The Globe group won a Pulitzer Prize for its 2002 work, but the real tale begins a year earlier with the arrival of new boss Marty Baron (Liev Schreiber) to the newspaper. He wants to see the Globe dig into some really hefty stuff, like following up on a recent column accusing a priest of sexually molesting dozens of kids over three decades.
