Does God define "right and wrong" or is there an intrinsic 'good' ?
by Simon ini don't personally believe in a 'god' but i wonder for those who do .... is there an intrinsic "right and wrong" or moral code that would exist whether or not there was a god?.
to put it another way, is what we believe is "right or wrong" based on whatever god decides is right or wrong (ie.
he set's the standard) or is it an intrinisc thing that he also must adhere to in order to be thought of as 'good'.. if god has to adhere and go along with some intrinsic value system then does this effect any claims to be omnipotent and always good?

This is a pretty classical question from philosophy. There's more info here, under lecture #4:

LETS ALL EMAIL EVERY GOVERNMENT IN THE WORLD ,EXPOSING THE ORGANIZATION.
by nightwarrior inthis is a seriouse thread.. what do you suppose would happen if we all emailed all governmental depts/ exposing the workings of the organization of the borg,.
most countrys and governments dont allow subversive elements or guerillas within there boundarys, but given hindsite, they could combat these diversive elements from getting a foothold ,if they knew how to combat the hidden propoganda used to ensnare victims,.
thats where we all come in lets start a war on the organization by exposing them .. any thoughts on this type of attack,.

Hey, give the guy a break. We know the risks, but thats how things get done. People, especially groups of people, that charge ahead despite the negatives are the ones that make things change. Thats serious!

Poll
by patio34 inwhat to wear to attract the opposite sex
this is from the book how to make anyone fall in love with you.. in a study, both men and women were shown pictures of members of the opposite sex.
some of the people in photos wore chic upscale clothes, and others wore less expensive ones that ranged from cheap to downright cheesy.

To expand on Elsewhere's sublime post-
Of course in real life its more complicated, but from a 'carnal' perspective... clothes on a woman often don't matter at all. In fact, no clothes is best. The next best thing is simple, tight clothes- or ones that
sayscream "I'm available". Bulky, loose clothes are confusing, even suspect, as they can cover a lot of ground. Hair, accesories, etc.... waste of time, makeup dosen't taste good...yuk.Funny, before I became more cosmopolitan, I actualy found expensive, elegent clothes a turn-off. The woman looked like a high maintenance, golddigger.

"worldly philosophies"
by happysunshine inso whats the deal with the wts take on "worldly philosophies" and the "wearisome" making of many books stuff?
on what basis do they make their interpretation of it meaning basically not to get a higher education or inquire into things?
any comments?

I agree with you on that, RF.
I am interested more in on what basis they originaly made that interpretation of the particular scriptures. Was that a common interpretation with, say, only other apocolyptic religions in the mid 19th century or something? Was that the intent of the original Hebrew/Greek? Any thoughts?
