What do you like to watch?
by SpiceItUp inok...not that there is anything wrong with serious threads (i for one enjoy them) but i was looking through the ones today and decided i needed a bit of fluff in my day (been way too serious lately).
so my question is..even though its rerun season...what tv shows do you like to watch?.
myself - i was an avid "x-files" fan but alas they have ended the series .

Spice, I have been hooked on Alias from the first episode too! I used to love Xena and la femme Nikita but now I can't seem to get them on any of our cable channels.
Love Whose Line is it Anyway? the British and American version; sometimes The Practice and Law and Order
Because I have a seven year-old, I have just grown to love Sponge Bob and Hey Arnold!

jjrizo, I have to disagree with you about this point you made:
They don't eat any different, from the rank and file Bethelites their rooms are modest no fancy cars, nothing like the ministers of Christondom who are making a killing in the religion business, fleecing the flocks.
Sorry, but most ministers do not make a killing in the religion business-in fact a far cry from it! I admit, that I used to think that way at one time-given my only exposure to other religions was what the WTBTS had taught me.
My husband is a minister and our car (1996 Taurus) has almost 200,000 miles on it, my husband is accessible 24 hours a day 7 days a week with 3 weeks vacation. He often gets up at 4 or 5 am to pray with people at the hospital for surgery, travels (sometimes 2-3 times a day to hospitals), visits shut-ins, prepares a Bible Study every week for Thurs. nights, a Sunday School study for youth and his Sunday Sermon. Often times, he gives up family time to spend with our church members who are hurting and lonely. SOmetimes by Wednesday, he has put in over 40 hours that week and when he starts putting in overtime, he doesn't get time and a half or any holiday time. He also works with a mentally disabled young man to make a little extra, for us to be able to afford a vacation once in awhile.
His annual salary for ALL of this is about $20,000. He is not in it for the money, but for the calling he feels God has placed on him. I can safely say that all the ministers in our area are in the same income gap, with maybe one or 2 exceptions.
Most ministers do not go in it for the money-believe me, there is far too much heartache, emotional ups/downs and sometimes just plain non-sense for it to be about the money. On more than one occasion we have suffered from burn-out and wanted to call it quits. But, then you have the days in between, where you know you made a difference to just one person, one family and you feel it is all worth it.

Valis, I especially like this:
The Game of Trolling
Trolling is like playing chess - there is a point to the game, and that point is to win. Unlike chess, though, there are various ways of winning for the internet troll. These might include:- gaining credence for false and invidious ideas
- driving bona fide list members, and/or particular groups, out of the mailing list
- dominating the list with messages/posts that they have generated
- gaining recognition or an award for their trolling from fellow trollers
- getting reprimanded by individuals, list managers or internet authorities
- gaining the confidence, trust and support of bona fide list members
- distracting list members from their own bona fide discussions or objectives.
- gaining attention that they cannot get using their real personalities
Trolling can be played at various levels...
- Level one - "Playtime" - This is where the troller is simply out for the gratification provided by a quick "win". An example of this might be to join a list with a fictitious name, cause an argument, withdraw and then boast to friends about what he/she had done. Such trolls are relatively easy to spot because their attack or provocation is fairly blatant, and the persona is fairly two-dimensional.
- Level two - "Tactical" - This is where the troller takes the game more seriously, creates a credible persona with which to provoke the list, and uses recognised techniques or tactics to gain the confidence and support of individuals on the list. Provocation is subtle and invidious, so spotting this type of troll is not easy, because the persona is credible, and off-list email exchanges have caused you to believe that this person is genuine and trustworthy.
- Level three - "Strategic" - This is a very serious form of game, involving the production of an overall strategy that can take months or years to develop. It can also involve a number of people acting together in order to invade a list. Once a list is infested, it can be nigh impossible to work out who is a troll and who is bona fide.
- Level four - "Domination" - This is where the trollers' strategy extends to the creation and running of apparently bona-fide mailing lists. In such circumstances, their payoff may be the knowledge that they are dominating the emotional lives of list members, and is perhaps one of the ultimate forms of deceit that can be achieved.
Everyone, please take a few minutes to look at the link Valis posted.

Any Scary Flying Stories Out There?
by Englishman inher ladyship and i are musing on the idea of having a weeks break in late october, so we now have to decide where we will spend it.. it will probably be madeira again.
it's clean, warm, the people are pro-british and the island is stunningly beautiful.
we love the levada walks, the food is delish and cheap, a 3 course meal for 2 with wine is less than 20 pounds.

News Flash! JW's Aren't Christians At All!
by LizardSnot inwhat qualifies jehovah's witnesses to call themselves christians?.
unlike other "bible-based" religions who believe in the divine nature of jesus;.
the watchtower bible and tract society claims that jesus christ is the savior .

Lizard, it 's funny-I was reading Hebrews 1 last night and got to thinking along the same lines as you! For the life of me, I cannot recall why it is that they thought he was the archangel, Michael.
Anyways, great minds think alike and so do ours!

by carepet in
i know that jehovah`s witnesses are the most loving people on this planet, and deserve all the kindness, consideration and love in return.

they are spending their whole lives, trying to save ours.

it is so easy to bring or put people down, but when one reads the scriptures in the correct context as they do, there is nothing any one can say against them.

if only we read jehovah`s word more often and study it as they do then there would be peace and love toward and for each other.

may jehovah god be with you for ever.
