  I believe that Reporting and recording of time spent preaching was started primarily to document a persons qualification as a 'minister', which was needed for draft issues in the US. As long as that need exists, the requirement to report time will continue.

  Russell's Pyramidology Originated In Edinburgh Scotland

  the edinburgh city observatory sits atop calton hill at the east end of the city centre adjacent to burn's monument, scotland's national monument modelled on the parthenon, and nelson's monument with the time ball that falls at 1pm every day except sundays.. .

  the second astronomer royal of edinburgh was charles piazzi smyth (jan. 1819 - feb. 1900).

  smyth was a man of many and varied interests including meteorology, producing weather observations that still form an important part of uk climate records to this day.. building on the work of james taylor, smyth became fascinated by the great pyramid of egypt at giza.

  I used to have a book by John and Morton Edgar, two Scotsman who were Bible Students in Russells time ( I think they left the WT later). The book was much more elaborate than Russell's writing on the subject.

  Are You Raising An Introvert?

  its not easy being an introvert in an extrovert worldespecially when youre a kid.

  it is even more difficult if none of the adults in the kids life recognize that the child is an introvert.

  this doesnt happen only when the childs parents are extroverts, but also with introverted parents who have never understood their own introverted nature.. .

  i come from a catholic background, but most recently had been with the churches of christ.

  i have contacted my local congregation and will be talking with someone tomorrow, hopefully setting a study up for next week.

  i want to study scripture, but also want to immerse myself in everything jw publishes.

  i wonder if jws are currently undergoing a more significant transformation than generally appreciated.

  and i wonder if the drivers for that change are a combination of legal, economic, and technological factors.

  legal challenges changed jws stance of whether they are a "religion" with "ministers", in the 1950s, and stopped them charging for the literature in the 1990s.

  Interesting line of reasoning. I would agree, but I think it runs deeper than just the JWs. At least in the US, the print industry is diminishing all across the board. People just are not reading much printed page.

  Also, in many countries where the JWs are growing, African nations especially, electronic medium is a long long way from general use.

  Subliminal images - why and who are the individuals behind it?

  i remember about 5 years ago reading on another site about subliminal images in wt literature.

  i honestly thought it a load of bs until i checked out one glaringly obvious image of a creepy skull in clouds within the knowledge book.

  i was shocked and even showed my wife at the time who thought it was creepy.. so my question is why?

  I personally knew a Bethelite in the art department, and he complained/commented that there were some good artists there, by the time their drawings were resized and converted to print, much of their work was lost. I think it likely that some of the 'faces' or whatever were not in the originals but were a result of the conversion to print.

  There have been some cartoons with imagery inserted in the pictures. Mostly attributed to devious pranks by the artists. Im not an artistbut I've read about it. I think The Little Mermaid was one of them.
