Latest and greatest from Warwick
by Warwickslave injust received two emails .
recently, it was announced that the warwick whq project will be completed by september 1, 2016. with a little less than 10 months left to go on the project, the construction project committee recently met with representatives from all eleven warwick construction groups throughout the u.s. the purpose of this meeting was to determine what can be done to more effectively continue the wonderful progress being made.
as a result, it has been determined that, for the duration of the project, all warwick construction groups will focus on sending experienced, skilled tradespersons who have regularly worked in their trade(s)in a secular environment.

I wonder if it is because of the cost of housing the unskilled spouse or if it is to avoid having shoddy work done. -

Retirement Planning for ex-JW's
by Simon inthis is something i think about a lot, possibly because i'm just getting older.
it seems that not only should i finally one day decide what i want to do with my life, but i should also be planning for retirement.. hands up everyone who feels their future has been royally screwed by the wts experience?.
if you were a good jw and followed the wts advice you could well be finding yourself facing middle or even old age without much or anything put aside in retirement savings.

Keep yourself adequately insured, especially for catostrophic health costs. Also if you drive a car, liability insurance. -

that lead to halting down their building plans and lay off the special pioneers and.

Possible reason for cancellation of book study in homes.
by Amelia Ashton inthis was posted on fb.. so guys, i'm gonna share something with you all that i think you should know.
i've only told two people about this (one being john cedars) for fear of getting this guy into trouble, but it's very telling and will reaffirm your "ttatt faith!
a couple of weeks ago, i had to have an "ability to protect" assessment by a gentleman from a company that also investigates child protection policies etc.

Reasons I have heard or thought of:
liability issues, both the pedo issues and the usual slip and fall risks
zoning , more and more municipalities have restrictions on home meetings because of parking, fire regulations, etc
lack of available homes, fewer quality homes being offered up, I know when they had one at my place it was a real aggravation.

"The Calendar of Jehovah God" - a historical tidbit
by OrphanCrow inin 1935, clayton woodworth (editor of the golden age - later the awake!
magazine) devised a 'new' calendar that he proposed was far superior to the pagan calendars that have been used in human history.he wrote a three part series for the golden age (i am not sure if these were actually published) that laid out his justifications for how this new calendar was more accurate and of course, was right in line with the divine plan.
the calendar was published in the 1935 yearbook, but the watchtower magazine later published a retraction to the calendar.

I knew that Woodworth was an instructor for ICS (International Correspondence School), but I never heard that he was an owner. I also never heard what subject he taught. His compilation of 'Gems from the Mine' was a monumental task. Apparently he went through every WT publication up to that time (1879 - 1909), and made both the subject and the scripture index. Admittedly, there were less books at that time, but still it meant 30 years of Zion's Watchtower and the six volumes of the Studies in the Scriptures. I used to have a reprinted copy of the Gems from the Mine, as it was being reprinted until recent times by one of the Bible Student groups. -

Kingdom Consolidation and Sales are coming – Reliable Source
by thedepressedsoul ini heard form a reliable source that a kingdom hall consolidation is going to be happening in the us.
currently they are looking at every kingdom hall to see if they could and should sell it.
any kingdom hall that has not been updated and is in a bad location (long driveway, not in a visible location etc...) will be sold.

This has been going on in the US for quite some time now. There are still quite a few congregations that could be consolidated, especially in urban areas, but it is nothing new. I wouldn't expect it to happen in rural areas where people are already driving 20+ miles to get to the hall, but in places where the congregations are closer together, it will happen more and more. -

Wood worth was very studious, probably too much. He produced, single handedly, the first index of all the WT literature , in about 1909. It was called Gems from the Mine. -
