I was asked to be a MS once, which I declined, then soon after that my service time started towards its eventual ZERO, where it is now. They never asked again.

in the last 4 months my eyes have been opened to ttatt, my biggest issue is that the elders have been grooming me to appoint me as an elder.

As has been pointed out several times, the number of baptized people does not equate to the number of publishers. If all was well in JW land one would think the two numbers would be moving in the same direction, as indeed was the case up through the 90's when baptisms were numerous and growth in publishers was high. Now the situation is different and surely a source of consternation among the Witness leaders. The number of baptisms is low, and the ratio of baptisms to publishers is at or near an all time low. This is also what I have personally seen at assemblies (midwest US, English speaking) where there are typically between 1 and 6 baptized at circuit assemblies where in the past we would have seen 15 or so. But in spite of this there is still a growth in 'publishers', who may or may not be baptized, or who are inactives coaxed back into reporting time.

WTS HQ: Look At The Map
by metatron inhttp://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/01/04/1263154/-what-s-the-most-jewish-congressional-district-in-america.
take a good look.
provides support for my theory that the society wants to 'hide out' in an area dominated by jewish enclaves - who quietly are a publically unchallenged 'law unto themselves' as they dominate or largely control wide swaths of ny territory right down to local pta elections.. this is not politically correct stuff, folks but power brokers in ny state gov.

Sorry, I don't buy it. The WT has property in Brooklyn . New Jersey, and. New York in areas where there are high percentage of Jews. So what. To then link them to some anti-Semitic theory doesn't make any sense.

Need help from JW History Buffs
by ILoveTTATT ini need help with writing an article regarding vaccinations, organ transplants, and blood transfusions.. i am doing my research using limited amounts of non-wt sources and mostly just the actual wt literature.. what i am having a hard time understanding is:.
most of the articles in the golden age, at least at the beginning of the anti-vaccination stance, are actually written by contributors.
since there are very pro-vaccination articles and then lots of anti-vaccination articles, how can i determine the actual wt viewpoint on vaccinations?.

Woodworth was definitely one of the strangest men in the wt in the pre WW2 era. He apparently had a free hand in editing the 'Golden Age' and 'Consolation'. I think that if we really knew all the facts we would find that 90 percent of the really bizarre content of those magazines was Woodworth's own ideas. Have to admit though that he had some intelligence, however misguided.
A few facts about him I can recall:
single handedly compiled the first Index to WT literature. It was called 'Gems from the mine' and covered all six Studies and 30 yrs of the Zion's WT thru 1909. A tremendous task back then.
co wrote the Finished Mystery in '17.
went to jail with Rutherford in 1918.
worked secularly as an instructor for ICC, a correspondence school based in Scranton PA. I never heard what subject he taught.

Sighhhhhhhh, the Draw Close to Jehovah book again for the Congregation Bible Study.
by Stand for Pure Worship incheck out this gem from the dec 2013 km which explains why it's good to over this book a second go round.. "congregations previously considered this book during 2004 and 2005. however, for many of the approximately two million publishers who have come into the truth since then, this will be the first time that jehovahs endearing qualities have been discussed in detail.for those who studied the book before, the review will help them to deepen their appreciation forjehovahs attributes.ps.119:14".
i gotta kick out of this because i can only think of maybe two or three new ones in our congregation who weren't present when this book was first studied.
at the same time, going over jehovah's qualities isn't something new.

They have been recycling books for the weekday study for quite a while. Possible reasons that come to mind:
There is still a remaining stock of the book they want to get rid of. I think that is the main reason they studied the Revelation book like 666 times.
They don't have any other book available (to save money they haven't printed many books recently)
They can't think of anything to write about. The writing staff is mostly laid off.
They are afraid to produce any actual 'meat' for the flock. A sensible commentary like the one on James would be a benefit to everyone, but of course that will never happen again.
They are leading up to discontinuing the weekday study. Does it really make sense to have one meeting and call it three? It's a joke.

A new cong in the circuit. Is the WT increasing in numbers?

Our circuit just added two congregations that had been part of an adjoining circuit. This is not growth , but is evidence of declining numbers. Recent circuit assembly attendance has been very low. On the other hand the number of pioneers is up. It seems like there is a growing divide between a minority of super zealous and the rest.

1973 "Divine Victory" International Assemblies
by Bungi Bill inhow many here attended the "divine victory" international assembly that was held 12- 16 december in christchurch, new zealand?.
the venue was lancaster park.
if the truth be known, that stadium was probably a casualty of the february 2011 earthquake?.

Looking at this old program, what really strikes me is how much this religion has changed. The attendance was 40,000 plus every day, and over 50,000 the last day. There were 982 baptized, can you imagine that? The percent of attendees baptized 982/47911 = 2.0% !! Compare that to the baptism rate of recent years, where the percent has been around 0.5%.
I was around back then, but for some reason it doesn't hit home until I look at something like this old program.
