  I thought the article in the Record was a little disappointing. It never touched on the issues we talked about with the reporter.

  After reading your above post, I have to agree with you. You gave them so much of your time and all that article really said was just a re-hash of similar articles that have appeared in various papers within the last few weeks.

  The fact that he is "in good standing" and can enjoy a greeting is a travesty while we are labled by the leaders who protect him.

  
  They could have at least printed the same observation at the end of the article that your above quote states.

  anyone who has a criminal record can't have any privileges from now on per the wts.. my conclusions:.

  so what about the child molesters who have abused children who have been disfellowshiped, pardoned, or who have sincerely repented of their wrongdoingsbut the authorities were not notified?.

  well, it seems that in many areas, the elders have been meeting alot more than usual this weekend.. abnormal times for elders to meet that is.

  and long meetings.. i wonder what that's about?

  God is Jesus

  i am looking for more scriptures that can prove to a jehovah witness that god is jesus, and jesus is god.i found only one verse so far in 1jo:5:20: and we know that the son of god is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his son jesus christ.

  this is the true god, and eternal life.. if you know more scriptures that say directly that god is jesus please tell me the verses the jhw will see plainly that jesus is no way an angel, and he is jehovah god almighty.. my friend said if i can prove by the bible only that jesus is god he will leave the jhw society, and he will know that they are teaching lies and they would be to him a dogma religious sect.

  my friend gave me a booklet called should you believe in the trinity?, and is jesus christ the almighty god.

  I need help/info on other religions vs the WTS

  over the past week since i've announced that i was stepping down i have had a few conversations with my family, and against my better judgement i mentioned that i was having doubts.

  invariably almost every discussion about the jw religion eventually boils down to the argument that only witnesses are doing this or that.

  unfortunately this is a weak part of my debate, i have only been associated with the jw religion so i have very little information on what other religions beleive and practice.

  Yes , there are many.

  2. Are there other religions who have similar beliefs, for example teachings such as the immortal soul, hellfire, earthly kingdom. etc? The favorite argument of witnesses is that they are the only ones who teach those things.

  DRAFFENVILLE
  No hearing held on excommunication

  An excommunication hearing for a former Jehovah's Witnesses
  elder didn't occur as scheduled last night because the three
  elders assigned to hear his case failed to appear.

  Bill Bowen, 44, of Draffenville, faces expulsion from the
  church for speaking out against its handling of sex-abuse
  allegations. He claims child-abuse allegations are not typically
  reported to authorities because of the church's policy of
  handling problems internally.

  Bowen and about 50 allies gathered in front of the Draffenville
  Kingdom Hall before his scheduled 7:30 p.m. hearing.

  But elders never arrived, he said.

  ''I'm quite perplexed,'' Bowen said. ''They gave me the time, the
  address and the location in writing. There was no
  misunderstanding on my part.''

  Bowen resigned as an elder in 2000 to protest the church's
  policy.

  Church leaders deny wrongdoing.

  the best mother and the best wife anybody could ever be blessed with.

  she was not only my mother, she was my friend.

  I have read criticisms of the Trinity brochure before, I am not convinced by them.

  That is why I asked you to actually look up the quotes for YOURSELF in the original material that is quoted by that brochure. You will find that there are MANY "half" quotes that change the meaning of the original.
