  i am just curious as to how much of a problem mental illness is among jws.

  i would like to hear what others have to say regarding their own experiences in this matter.

  specifically, i want to know how these individuals were handled in the congregation and whether or not being a jw contributed to the effects on mental illness.. .

  AuntConnie I do not believe that you are really a witness with the ridiculous statements that you have made. You need to do some soul searching as your comments indicate that you have truly forgotten the reason that we are out in the ministry in the first place. We should desire everyone to have an opportunity to learn about Jehovah. What you do after you learn the truth is your choice... aka free will.

  As to your comments about the Section 8 people it indicates to me that you are either classist or racist. Such a shame! You need to think before you speak or write...

  The other possibility is that AuntConnie is not even a real person which really says a lot about how low the so-called apostates, conscious Christians or whatever you guys are known as will go. Really ridiculous.

  so if i spend one dollar a week to buy lottery tickets, i can be disfellowshipped.

  if i admit to a couple elders that privately to myself i do not believe that jehovah's witnesses are gods sole channel of truth, i can be disfellowshipped.

  .. but if i confess to the elders that i have been sexually molesting a child, i can no longer handle the mics or be a ministerial servant.. i am pissed, read this (i don't even care to make it clickable, cut and paste it):.

  Please note that a child molester can and most likely will be disfellowshipped if unrepetant.

  Buying one lottery ticket is NOT handled by automatic disfellowshipping. There have been policy updates on this.

  You have a right to believe what you want to believe and the elders have a right and duty to protect the congregation.

  It has never and will never be about an organization... it is about whether or not we are willing to live our lives in harmony with scriptural principles.

  It took me a long time to write this...i'm staying.

  it took me a long time to write this....i'm being brutally honest...i am still a reg pioneer...three sundays ago,i was praying and asking god for a sign or something because i was so confused...i told him exactly what i needed to see for me to believe.i was feeling terrible--crying and feeling sick because i was so confused.ten minutes after, i walked into the kingdom hall and to my surprise--my prayer was answered!

  i soooo wasn't expecting it, even though i prayed.

  so this is where almighty god wants me to be,ii've reasoned.

  Believe it or not both sources such as the sites out there and the Watchtower publications have provided me great insight into the organization. I do not worship an organization I worship Jehovah and submit to Jesus as ruler.

  Perhaps for some of you I am somewhat different. Frankly most of what I am hearing is NOT apostasy but rather disgruntled exJWs and others that are feeding on few articles that while true have ultimately been sensationalized.

  It is sad that some on this board and elsewhere let anger rather than sound reasoning guide them.

  That being said let me make it clear that I am watching the Organization and I examine its actions according to scriptural precedent. I will have to be one of the ones that says that local elders, pioneers and publishers all make mistakes. I will also say that some in my faith did not have a proper understanding of all the issues and that cases such as the one in the news now will make all of us be more alert to take better care of our brothers and sisters and especially our young ones.

  Yoda says it the best:

  I must commend you for such courage GrowingGirl20. I hope and pray that you will continue to preach the good news and not let yourself be affected by negative comments.

  It is up to you to read the BIBLE and apply it in your life. The Truth stands on its own merits no matter what any of the critics say.

  Do not let the actions of individuals or even corporations shake your faith. We dedicated our life to serving Jehovah and submit ourselves to our reigning king Jesus Christ and in due time THEY will resolve all the issues that exist. In due time THEY will also take care of those who oppose his rule.

  WE must make sure that we are on Jehovah & Jesus' side when the ends comes. WE cannot afford to let our emotions or the poor judgement of others take us away from our primary mission to preach the good news.

  Please keep up the good work, remain alert, listen and do not become discouraged because in the time of the end we will see many things that may cause us sadness.

  Lastly, do your own research... this board has some who claim to be free thinkers but have no doubt made their minds up with just part of the picture. Get the whole picture and keep studying.
