wt july 15, 2011 page 18 paragraph 15 "meddlers in other people's affairs".
it is not our right to tell others how to run their personal affairs'' anybody here ever been told to do something/how to do something by an elder or other jw?
in regards to job situation/family for example, with no direct scriptural backing...

it's clear that virtually everyone on here is infuriated by wt teachings/doctrines/practices, but i would really like to know what is of most concern to people who frequent this forum.. here is my top 5, number 1 being the most significant/infuriating:.
the disfellowshipping practice - expanded to include family members (but not parents) who are old enough to leave home.
wrecks families and creates abject fear once people find out the truth about the organization.the blood issue - another unmerciful teaching, but one that costs lives.unquestioned authority of governing body - a handful of men make life-altering decisions as representatives of a larger group of people who they never see or speak to, and yet they demand unquestioning obedience on pain of being disfellowshipped.failed prophecy - the fulfilment of huge swathes of bible prophecy, including revelation, has been attributed to the events of the early 20th century, and the actions of a small group of men.two-tier christianity - faithful and discreet slave are anointed who go to heaven to whom ransom provisions apply directly, whereas remainder, or "great crowd" stay on earth and form a sub-class, only access benefits of ransom through fds.i realise that many of these issues are inter-related, but that's roughly how i would put them.
'the dog that didn't bark' is an expression from a sherlock holmes mystery.
it was an important clue that led to identifying the criminal.. it seems that the killer entered and left the estate grounds one night but without the guard dog barking an alarm at the intruder's presence as expected.. from this nonevent holmes reasoned that the dog must have known the killer and that clue led to solving the case.. .
jehovah's witnesses are "the dog that didn't bark.".
Thank you Terry for the post. I was a Jehovah's Witness. In this
one post that you wrote you have done more brain work and reasoning
than I did in 18 years. I am ashamed. But I went to meetings, that is what I did.
I have no family members in, I do not worry about much. I am sorry for all you who do.
If I cared I would find a bunch of those old Watchtower Magazines. Do they not
speak untruth by themselves? I think that if my poor husband had shown me
that Chart of command, I would have gone somewhere else. But i will never know.
I think the reason there WAS the meek who look for righteousness amoung
Jehovah's Witnesses is because they believed that it would be worked out.
It is not being worked out. History can only wonder what is happening in the minds
of "the faithful" who keep trusting in men, even though their guide book says DON"T!
Guide book=Bible. Is that spamming? Call me clueless.
I like trolls. Little things that gang up on me. I love it!
how many times did you hear that?
it wasn't until i read with disbelief no room for george's pitiful statement about being proud to be a jw did i start to think of a simple of way of discrediting the jws... it needed a simple scriptural phrase that causes them to shoot their own foot!.
so - how many different ways can you think of where jws have "gone beyond the things written"?.
OK. A lot of the criticism made against the witnesses is exaggeration, and some is plain not true. But what you say ssn587 I know it is true, sad but true, always true. And come to find out later, the gB is too busy making rules to do their own bible research. So who is researching the bible? Any takers? Everlasting life=taking in knowledge. Nobody knows, nobody goes.
i was reading the letter of james before and i came across a verse which a brother on my judicial comittee shown me:.
14 is there anyone sickamong you?
let him call the older men of the congregation to [him], and let them pray over him, greasing [him] with oil in the name of jehovah.
That is a good post. I wondered about that. Even though JW teach there is no such thing as faith healing, I know that there is power in Jesus name to heal physical illness from my own personal experience. Thanks Timmy
it's us who should be shunning them!.
2 john is talking about the anti-christ.
he describes it:.
I believe what Jesus did was he explained the natural spiritual phenomenon
of the "air". Paul it was that explained the natural phenomenon of "man".
Jesus said "I know what is in man". Paul wrote the proof of that.
I believe "the Bride of Christ" is Earth. Earth plus Truth, Way and Life
eguals the goal of everlasting life.
"Jesus coming in the flesh" does it not mean he is "with" us?
I don't know, what do you think?
it's us who should be shunning them!.

Yes, but we are disobedient children, are we not?
I believe we should keep in mind the warning. But
they are not anti-christs because they do have the teaching.
They just can't hear themselves think.
Zombie? 2000 years ago wasn't so long ago.
I am going to say (for myself) I will listen, (but probably not obey).
this list is taken from a college course called the psychology of fundamentalismoffered by the university of texas.
1. the leader is charismatic and often militaristically demanding.
2. the leader is always right.
FYI He did not say he heard it a hundred times, I thought it.

# 15 For that I will tell a story. A brother who is still a brother
told me about supper time at Bethel. He told me when soup was served
at supper, usually it had to be eaten cold because the "brother" from
the Governing Body would go on and on about something or other
(and they hadn't of read it already a hundred times in the Watchtower?)
So #2 rule of Christians is to love your neighbor as yourself. So I was wondering
why the brother was not wondering what was going on with that? GB loves cold soup?
