I suspect he has as much power as they do. The WT has two heads: Corporation/Legal and Theological. Gb is in charge of keeping the masses at bay which keeps the money flowing. Corporation/Legal is charge of keeping the media and government at bay, as well as, keeping the funds secure and protected . Without one the other would fall. If anyone is living it up or taking advantage of the donations is Corporate/ legal. Therefore, I would assume that the president must have a substantial amount of power. He probably knows way too much to just get rid of. I think he is very wise to stay in the background in case everything blows up in the GB's faces. After all, he is not the ones that makes the rules.

I thought it was a drag. I was bored duing long streches of the film. It was interesting how they incorporated Evolution into the story.The "angels" reminded me of the trees from LOTR. I think the "extra" parts were taken from Apocrypha books. All in all I gave it about 1 1/2 stars. Looking forward to Exodus Gods and Kings.

Today's public talk: shameless indoctrination
by OneEyedJoe intoday's talk was really somethin'.
so much so that i felt compelled to post this during the wt study.... i didn't pay attention to the theme, but where i to title the talk it would be "logical fallacy, scripture out of context, and phobia indoctrination: a case study in cult indoctrination.".
that's certainly a more honest title than whatever they gave, i'm sure.. it starts out by saying that sometimes people are skeptical about things they're told, and feel compelled to look for evidence of the claims.

Demon attacks on JW in past, where'd they go?
by thedepressedsoul inin the 80's and 90's (maybe even earlier) i remember hearing lots of witnesses talk about "demon attacks".
whether it was someone studying the bible who then started having strange things happen in their house to people bringing stuff home from yard sales and getting personal attacks and horrible dreams resulting in them dystroying stuff they brought home or getting rid of it.. .
i also remember hearing a sister say she had to pray in a home with a study because the study started to get attacked.

Now that everyone has a mini camcorder, if its not on video it didnt happen. Back then, word of mouth was enough to prove something was true. In addition, with the internet, we have come to find out that most of these stories are recycled urban legends. The information age has debunked many of the ghost/demon stories. Also, I think we can arguably call this decade as the decade that embraced science.
