were you ever counseled for "running ahead of jehovah's organization?".
did you have to be told that you needed to "wait on jehovah"?.

memorandum selective service booklets in pdf--by request!
request from researcher: hi atlantis!
i downloaded the selective service booklet for 1950 that appears on barbara anderson's site, but i would like to have the ones that were published after that.
Thank you. Yes, that's the one!!!
It has the Table of Classifications in it. In recent discussion, this period of my life came back, in a deja vu fashion:
14) On NEUTRALITY, consider the following out of personal experience, where I faced prison:
SSS = Selective Service System, the civilian run American military conscription mechanism
Have you ever been arrested in Field Service? I have, three times.
Have you ever had to prove that you were a Jehovah's witness in Federal court?
I have: twice in Selective Service System Hearings and an additional twice in the preliminary Applications and Interviews. I prepared my case and acted as my own Counsel, that is to say Pro Se.
Have you ever read any internal WTS Legal documents?
I was given a "secret" internal manual from WTS on SSS procedures and regulations. This was on a "need to know basis"; I was instructed to not tell anyone I had it and return it when through.
Have you ever been investigated by the FBI for being a Jehovah's' Witness?
I have: this was/is part of the SSS procedure for those on Appeal. I once went into my cousins (the congo PO) office, at his place of work, on congo business. He quipped 'you just missed the FBI Agent here inquiring about you. He asked if you were pIONEERING': "Yes, I replied that I went out in service with you regularly and that I expected to see you on business today", my cousin said.
JW association was key in my Defense and is dealt with extensively in JW Legal proceedings, both internal (Judicial Committees, generally known in Secular Law as Religious Tribunals dealing with Church Law and those that have gone to external or Secular Courts.

ya a beautiful fall day here....trees ablaze with color...and a slight drizzle...me sippin yummy coffee...wife crammin her bookstudy book, then off to meeting and service........god she dresses up a lot!....i fogot how much i did that.....i have about $2000,00 of suits getting dusty in my closet if anybody needs a 42 long btw......so i just asked myself and sooo wanted to ask my wife "why are you really going out in service today?
".......and there are many automatic jw answers:.
1. jesus said we must go and make disciples, and it is the loving thing to do..........2. because the time is short and have to save as many as possible......3. because we love our neighbors ( but i cant frikin have them over for a grillout!).........
Oompa:
I take that as compliment
As I am not "malum in se" (inherently evil): I rise to the occasion
After the 12 hour-Year Publisher, the next step is the Submarine Publisher; these are only seen @ Memorial and perhaps CO visits.
Working your way out the door: Now that wasn't hard, was it
Those with lots of family left inside need to consider the JW Laity Class (tm); it will let them keep ties longer

another possible conundrum for the governing frauds: will witnesses become potheads?.
i see more and more states allowing medical marijuana ( mass.
may be the latest).
If you have cancer and your doctor tells you to smoke pot after your kemo therapy, so you stop puking.. The WBT$ is fine with it.. You need a prescription from the doctor though..
OK, medical thing... you know how it is w/ JW's when it goes medical; this could get sticky:
Is it a matter of Conscience?
Are there Fractions involved? Some fraction is OK vs. not OK?

eve desired wisdom and knowledge.
the apple was symbolic of wisdom and knowledge.
although it is sometimes said that the sin was "disobedience", why would the creator not wish for his creation to grow and mature?
Could it be that humans were intended for a purpose that required only manual labor and thus were to be kept "dumbed down"?
Zech Sitchin writes about this theory. He refined Van Danieken's Ancient Astronauts kickoff. He postulates rounds of genetic experiments where man is either dumb as a rock (and doesn't make a good slave) or too smart to make to good slaves.
How do you know that these two beings are not the same?
Maybe they were on the same crew, a la Captain Kirk of the Enterprise fame. They were supposed to be supervisors and Big J was crew chief; Satan didn't like this. So they disagreed.
Maybe all this was pre "Prime Directive" times: "New Management" called a halt to the colonization, doing the "God act" scheme.
Or Civil War at Home Base cut the supply lines and the colonies were abandoned.
It could be that the different sequences (Babylonian Gigamesh days; ancient Hebrew Israel, OT days; Jesus, NT days and even the Islamic overture) were all different aspects of various members of the "crew" taking over in orderly or not so orderly "change of commands".
This goes along with the "Elohim" being a plural grouping of such "god-like" cadets or space soldiers. (Space cadets?)
A greater and lesser hierarchy of Gods would be seen here; and history might well support that better than the singular god supposition.

Don't go out in FS: just lay back and fill a pew. The thing that the JW''s need most is an INACTIVE LAITY CLASS. Just sit on your duff.
Being Spiritually Weak is vastly underrated: it opens up a whole world of new experiences. There will be plenty of time on hand for hobbies, getting reaquainted with friends and family.
Done properly, nobody but a number crunching servant will even notice it.
You can ease up to this by simply cutting back. If you just report ONE HOUR, then you won't be inactive for a while or even irregular.
And think of what that does to the AVERAGE: it drags it down. No matter how many hours OR HOW FEW that you report, they still can only count you as ONE PUBLISHER.
Make yourself a new goal: TWELVE HOURS A YEAR
Don't like the PO or some of the other servants? They have to explain the averages to the CO
Join the JW Laity Class: it will grow; it is where the future is

So not all people on here were fringe JWs who hated service...
And not all the people who hated service were fringe JWs.
I had up to 5 studies, pIONEERing, if memory serves correctly; and the morning in FS, afternoon to studies was my routine. But it still was a chore. I never expressed fondness for FS, but I didn't express dislike either (unhealthy). So, I guess I was just "going along with the program", but in DENIAL. Later, on examining my feelings, I decided I hated FS. That's why I made it clear to my father and the other "brother" that there was no way I was going back into FS. I actually said I might start attending meetings again: you could see or "feel" (over the phone) the begining of a small smile (can't be too obvious, careful, careful, gotta reel him in closer before 'setting the hook"...) BUT under NO circumstances would I do FS. I didn't do that on purpose, it just happened. But, try it sometime, on a "lifer JW". Just play with them: if they can play you for a fish, you can reverse the strategy Mustang

No. I think #1 would be "If I don't go out the elders will hound me."
Sometimes I wish that I could tell some of them this, but then I recall that I actually did, in a fashion:
I listened to my father and watched a another JW super zealot (in a foreign country on the other side of the globe, where JW's are proscribed) stumble, falter and nearly go into shock when I said NEVER MORE (quoteth the raven :) ) DOOR-DOOR.
Like they say about MasterCard: priceless!!!
They are so transparent: after doing J-Dub-ing that for 20 years, they thought I wouldn't see through their strategy to drag me back to the flock.

i see no reason why any organised religion should be exempt from paying their due taxes.
here's a chance to rob the mormon church of their tax exempt status.... please visit http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/review-the-501c3-status-of-the-church-of-latter-day-saints-the-mormons and sign it and pass it on to your friends.. .
the lds church contributed a significant amount of money and effort to endorse prop 8 in california via its network of church, media, and community outlets enshrining discrimination under the law for thousands of californians and their families.. .
WH:
Dr. Gene Scott's AOG was from either Glendale or Pasadena before they moved downtown, if I remember correctly. They had lots of fusses w/ the gov. Generally, they held their own. But when California did that thing against the tele-vangelist it got different. I recall Scott fighting the FED a few times, especially the FCC over his media network(s)/(ing). (Scott disagreed that he was a tele-vangelist; can't explain it, not going there.)
But California was different (this is the one WTS went amicus curiae for). When Cal state did that taxation thing, Scott went along rather than fighting it. He shifted all his printed materials over to Delores Press (sp?) and they made everything TAXABLE: simple solution.
There is another, smaller church, I believe, First something-something of Glendale that a friend quotes a precedent on. I believe that was over Imminent Domain, however.

i thought long and hard before making this thread, that many will not agree with it but i think there needs to be balance and people to realise there are alternate viewpoints out there on many of these subjects, the ones that are most spoke about on this forum.
i was recently sent a full message containing mary's book and these links give the rebuttal to many of her points.
those that are still open-minded enough feel free to look over them even if in the end you still don't agree at least you have heard both the defence as well as the attack as they are on the internet.
Anonymous Watchtower scholars with no credentials but their own claims to scholarship. How impressive. Not!
I've meant to comment on this for some time. But scholar is one of those "submarine publishers" that you only see @ Memorial
I laugh at his "celebrated JW scholars": there are none. And it is an oxymoron. The Watchtower is dead set against any self aggrandizement as it would take away glory from God. In the early days of Watchtower, you could determine who authored what; but they did away with that. To become a noted or "celebrated scholar" is not done anonymously.
Scholar seems to be a disingenuous but clever hoaxster that is certainly not a JW.
