  All I can say is, "Hmmm!" You conveniently avoided every point I made and responded with irrelevant replies.

  You remind me of the illustrious Mr. Rick Fenton who, in response to a UK police inquiry regarding Jehovah's Witnesses' description of those who leave the church as "mentally diseased", said, "If a person changes their mind about Bible-based teachings they once held dear, we recognise their right to leave."

  Nice. But what, my Dear Mr. Fenton does that have to do with the charges that your publications are in breach of Britain’s religious hatred laws by referring to individuals as "mentally diseased"?

  BTW, don't you know that by just posting here Teary you can be subject to judicial censure by the elders in your congregation. And regardless of what they say or not, you're being disobedient to the GB?

  Fred Franz's words - haunting JWs from beyond the grave!

  as most people on this site have come to know, the "new world translation committee", the group claiming responsibility for the "new world translation of the holy scriptures", consisted of fred franz and a bunch of lackeys who did busy-work.

  franz was the only one hwho had even a passing knowledge of biblical hebrew & greek.. the 7/15/11 wt's comments about "mentally diseased" apostates is causing quite a stir in the uk in print and online.

  there are numerous threads on that topic on this board today.. the phrase "mentally diseased" in this context is a direct quote from 1 timothy 6:3-4 from the nwt:.

  Great point, sir82. Certainly calling someone "conceited" or "proud" isn't nice, but it would never be classified as "Hateful Speech".

  I'm not feeling to sorry for the WTBTS at the moment, are you? They brought this on themselves.

  Overlapping generation segment on the new Circuit Assembly program

  so there i was at the circuit assembly sunday morning with my eyes glazed over as usual when all of a sudden, bam!

  a demo with two brothers talking about the new overlapping generation teaching.

  the reason it took me by surprise was because it occured during the second talk of the sunday morning symposium, "sanctify god's name by your speech".

  • "Evidently ... we have no idea what Jesus meant."
  • "Evidently ... We were wrong and we humbly apologize for our error. Anyone that left the "Truth", disassociated themselves or was disfellowshipped over this doctrine will have their shunning lifted immediately."

  Or, more likely:

  • "Evidently ... some of the Rank & File are on to us, but ...."
  • "Evidently ... most loyal JWs will still believe any damn thing we say. He guys, let's see how far we can push this, let's have some REAL fun with it!"

  Just a few thoughts and comments:

  • "Even if it's wrong, it's still the best way to live." - Really? What happened to the importance of "accurate knowledge" and worshipping in "spirit and truth"? - Colossians 1:9, John 4:24
  • "Evidently Jesus meant ... " - Now this is just so stupid it's hard to believe the GB would even say this. C'mon, "evidently Jesus meant" the common word GENERATION meant something different that it usually does! Why? Well the only "evidence" is that the WT's lame predictions about "The End" have not come true. So it couldn't possibly be that the WT/GB is wrong, so "evidently" Jesus meant something other that what those simple, plain words normally mean.
  • "Then they reviewed their convention notes and now everything is crystal clear" - What? Are they kidding?!? It didn't make sense the first time, but when they reviewed the brother's notes it became "crystal clear". They should get that brother on the Writing Committee ASAP because "evidently" his notes are more clear than John Barr, Bethel Speakers and the WT publications!!!
  • "I'm not serving with a date in mind anyway" - Good, but everyone should serve with a MIND in mind. Think people, does this "overlapping-generation" stuff make any sense? Of course not. If it did then the GBs wouldn't be putting on these lame damage-control parts. This leads to ....
  • "It's hard to understand" - No it isn't. It's IMPOSSIBLE to understand because it is stupid, illogical and without any scriptural or secular basis other than the fact that "The End" has not yet come. (See #2 above)

  Gotta' feel sorry for all those still in struggling to be loyal and obedient, but not yet aware of the fact that they're being misled.

  Is higher education about worldly riches?

  haven't posted on here in years, but this topic really gets my goat and i just had the "priviledge" of going to a special assembly day where the bethel speaker, john williams, strongly held forth against higher education.

  in particular, he stressed how higher education is all about greed and getting rich, and how knowledge puffs up, and that people who go to college are arrogant and selfish.. this is kind of a bad thing because this guy is a really strong, accomplished speaker.

  several times i found myself captivated by his delivery in spite of myself.. in response to the idea that somehow education is about getting rich, i would like everyone to take a look at these numbers from the us department of labor: http://www.bls.gov/emp/ep_chart_001.htm.

  No, it is not about riches. The GB knows that people that get an education are more likely to realize they've been conned by them.

  Everything else is just rhetoric designed to misdirect from the real issues.

  It contains 605 pages of accounting procedures, legalese and architectural designs from the WTBTS. There is a huge disparity gap between what the Society does (because it of course needs to) and what it instructs its members/followers to do or not do. They officially and publicly instruct their followers NOT to pursue Higher Education and yet they rely on the expertise of people that have advanced degrees in accounting, law and architectural engineering. Why is that?

  Well, I'm not a mind reader so I can only speculate on their motives, but this disparity certain raises some interesting questions about their motives. Why wouldn't the society to pursue skills that they so obviously need? My conclusion: Fear and Control.

  Today's Watchtower Lesson Really Bothered Me...

  i was a hair away from telling my wife i never wanted to go to the kingdom hall again after today's watchtower.

  the conductor mentioned something along the lines of..."if you think having to shun your disfellowshipped children is bad...you should read up on the israelites.

  when one of their children was disobedient to the law, they had to take the before the judges so that they could be stoned to death...and guess who's job it was throw the first stone?".

  In fact, I know of several on the subject in just the last few months. One of my favorites is:

  An Open letter to the Governing Body

  In particular, read the posts by SIAM. He and I exchanged quite a few thoughts on this very matter. It is so difficult.

  Just this weekend, my wife and I spent the some time with good friends that have been out about 4 years now. (I've been out 2). They talked about how they both had doubts for years before the talked to each other about them for all the reasons you can guess. It was only when they started trusting in each other and talking together that they worked through things, and they both felt that they had a pretty solid relationship before!

  It's so sad, this thing that should bring couples together divides and isolates one from another. It is evil, it really is.

  Hope you two figure it out TOGETHER!

  It's very telling that Mr. Fenton chose to comment on the right of an individual to leave. That was never the issue, rather whether or not the WT's treatment of those exercising their individual rights should be shunned and libeled as "mentally diseased."

  Oops, I meant to say, "Why wouldn't the society encourage their members to pursue skills that they so obviously need?" in my 4th paragraph above.
