Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

with the advent of cooler weather (at least in canada and the northern us), one might think of how the witnesses are going to cope.
for certain, dress codes are going to have different effects now than they did when it was broiling hot.. men are going to be more comfortable now.
cooler weather means that the coat is not going to create as much heat stroke risk as it did in the heat of mid summer.
When I was pioneering in the winter, I wore wool pants, boots over the pants, a longish skirt and a long coat. So did all the other women I pioneered with.
To do otherwise would be ridiculous.
there is so much available at every price point.
what have you discovered is right for you?.
just recentley i discoverd loreal's bare naturals, minerals.
I have lots of makeup allergies, so am constantly trying new things. They usually work well at first but after a few months, my face starts itching. Eye makeup is especially challenging. I can't use anything with glitter, so no frosted eyeshadows. I feel like ants are crawling all over my eyelids. I have to buy new mascaras long before they are empty, and have to buy a different brand every time.
Almay is the worst, and it's supposed to be for sensitive skin.
Right now I am using a foundation I bought at a beauty supply store. I really like it, but it's a generic brand. I can use most of the makeup at Sephora.
The Bare Minerals products work well for me. So far no allergies to those.
a few weeks ago we were out of town and i spotted this man sitting on a bench watching some outdoor performance as we were.
he looks familiar, like some heavy gangster boss in older movies.
does he look familiar to you?
He does look quite a bit like Scott Glenn. He's a lot older than Scott Glenn, who is 66.
i have started this thread so that every time i see a new one i can point out how old that idea is.
congratulations.
it's great that you have obviously been able to get out without being harmed in some way - really, i'm happy for you.
It takes time to recover, and sometimes a lot of time.
I think we forget that not everyone is at the same place we are.
there a loads of anti-jw sites out there.. if you had to choose just one as being the best (apart from jwd, of course!
), which one would you pick?
perhaps which was most helpful when you were leaving?
First one I went to was on AOL, a JW discussion group. I found many doubters there.
Then I found H2O from browsing around on www.freeminds.org. Then I found this one.
JWO was awful I thought. Slippy's was fun. Welcome Wagon is nice too.
JWD is the one that was my therapy though, and will always be more special because it took me through the bad times.
scully isn't like that, though.
besides, she's kinda cute.
ozziepost is cute to, but he's a bit on the serious side.. s, awaiting his lashing, in the b-school..
Hey, I'm pretty nice. I'm just a grandma................nine grandchildren.
Stay in line kiddies.
jesus certified "creation" when he said .."male and female he created them.." and so does the bible.
the fossil record though shows primitive man, homo erectus, etc were around before bible chronology creation of adam and eve.
can this conflict be reconciled?
There are a number of ways to reconcile this discrepancy: 1. Base your belief on facts - it doesn't matter what it says in the bible. 2. Base your belief on facts and the bible - where the bible contradicts reality, say it's allegorical. 3. Base your belief on the bible - reject the facts.
I subscribe to the first option - there is no reason a priori to believe the bible or to try to make it fit reality.
Derek, that is brilliant. I totally agree.
By the way, last year's Christmas card to you, was just returned to me. Wrong address. It sure took a long time to get here. PM your address to me.
in massachusetts, the governor unveiled a casino proposal yesterday.
some are very much for it: others are solidly against it.. would you be against having a casino in your state?
?.
We have casinos all over the place in our area. They is one on almost every block in the business area. No problems except from those who think they corrupt the world.
We also have Tribal Casinos in every county, and some counties have several. The nearest one to us is about 20 miles away. We go there often. They are great fun and I would fight to keep them there. I love to gamble.
you know, the one where independent bible research is forbidden, er, discouraged.. .
did anybody actually have the balls to say, "the society does not say such activities are forbidden or discouraged, just not endorsed?
" (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).
I know of at least one elder who didn't agree with it at all. He does lots of internet research. I suspect he still will do it.
