i was surprised, right before i left, a guy was giving a sunday talk and used an illustration that i thought was pretty good. so after the meeting i was talking to him and i said, yea i thought that illustration was pretty good.....do you know what he said? as i cannot remember verbatim, he said something to the effect of "yea they give us a bunch of them on a list and then we can just pick which we want to use".....was like wow, that sounds very...impressive.

The CO asked for money tonight at the meeting.
by life is to short ini was shocked i do not know why as i have read that the co's were doing this but to hear it with my own ears was unbelievable.
i do not go to the meetings but my husband still does and this week is the co's visit.
i decided that i would listen in to his talk; i swear i have lost some brain cells by doing it but anywho.. he started out by talking about the old story that has been in the wt many times about a little boy who was seven and raised a chicken and gave the money to the society.

Forum Owner and Member Integrity
by Simon insome people recently raised concerns about security of the site relating to whether forum members could be watchtower plants trying to obtain information about people.
apparently, this was because a previous forum that was setup was either owned by or later handed over to someone who used it to collect personal information about people which was then used to harrass them.
i don't know all the details, i'm just paraphrasing what i've heard and recognize that it's a concern to some people.. i want to first of all put people's minds at rest: i've been running this site for what will be 13 years next month.

Wise words Jgnat. In retrospect, I am very thankful that I was seen here with a great deal of suspicion, realizing that if I had divulged the kind of information that I may had (if otherwise not seen in this manner).....I may be dealing with twice the amount of shit that I would have otherwise. Right now I'm standing on probably the most important decision of my life....the decision that I make at this point will not only effect the rest of my life, but the rest of many other people's lives as well. I wish I could say more, because it would be great to make light of an issue that is breaking my back. On the one side there is the selfish and vain choice, on the other is the altruistic and humble choice. It always seems to come down to 50/50 (which leaves no mathematical decision going one way or the other). I believe most people on this website are good people, unfortunately sometimes good people do bad things. when people have been dealing with the paranoid culture of WT, you can see why privacy is a good thing to ensure here.

Jws and psychotropics vs. Jws and psychology as a science

the jws sanction the members to take various prescription drugs for mental disorders small and large, but yet they deny the science of psychology, the same people who are giving them the drugs?
is that a total contradiction or what?

Going to answer my own thread. i think that they do not acknowledge good science for the same reason that they must tell people that their elders are appointed directly by god. the same reason that they hold this mindset that everyone in the cong is squeeky clean because if they weren't they would be DF'ed. and what is that reason? that reason is haughty pride and egomania.
they do not want to admit that their people are suffering from the same afflictions as everyone else. they want to go into that kh and lie to themselves telling themselves that this might be jose that works at pizza hut, but really he is this wonderful spiritual being walking in direct step with god. if they had to really look at the science and say so and so is a borderline personality, or so and so has major denial issues, or this or that......they couldn't do it, why? because the one trait that is supposed to define them, doesn't even exist, which is love. because love doesn't care if you have xyz, love doesn't need to see you as some sort of epic spiritual person so that they can speak respectfully to you and talk to you like a friend. love doesn't care if you have xyz diagnosis, because love is going to ignore that and focus on what is good about you. but they can't , they need to tell themselves things that aren't true to compensate for the fact that they are bereft of their supposed true identifying mark.
there are a thousand places that i could have gone to play the status game, i went to the jws because i thought that was a sanctuary from this, and it turns out to be no different. status leads to war, if we all want to kill each other then lets do it, but let's understand why we are doing it before we do it.
edit: status inherently does not lead to war, but status as a prime mover does.

in the most simplistic terms just think of it like this: if you had a car and your mentality was that the car was riding by the power of jehovah, what would happen over time? everything would start going bad on the car, over time...flat tires, out of alignment, transmission failure, engine failure, broke struts, etc etc. well we know that the car is not running by jehovah, the car is running based on physics and many many components which work together to provide a working vehicle. you take the car to the mechanic and he diagnoses it and fixes it.
jehovah's witnesses pretty much believe that psychology is a pseudoscience. they do not educate themselves on the mechanics of the mind, and the procedures necessary to re-calibrate or fix this mechanism called the human being. granted, psychology does not have all the answers, but it has many of them.
the same way that a jehovah's witness having their menstral cycle would not pray for the blood to stop, they should not pray for the broken mind to stop either. they should take the necessary actions to fix it. granted once again, they do have plenty of their members taking xyz drug for depression anxiety and so on ,which is fine, if that works for them, good. what they do not do, is educate themselves based on the science (not pseudoscience) of psychology and then take actions necessary to rectify whatever behaviorial aberrations may arise. and brother, the behavioral aberrations they are uh many among those folks. they have to be the most passive aggressive people on earth, and does this set a good example? hell no. it creates a society of a bunch of back stabbin bitches. if you are going to stab me, at least do it in the chest with some honor.

the thing that cracks me up and is similar in many cases, is the person who is on the barrel end of the jc makes the assumption that they will be given this time for fair discussion, and they proceed to try and conduct the jc as if everyone was level headed and reasonable. what they don't realize is that the elders have about 0 patience for this, and they are just dying to stick their fangs into your neck and then tell you that you are disfellowshipped. they don't care how smart or clever you are, and they really don't care if you truly are a humble and decent empathetic person, because in their minds they are seeing the graphic that outlaw posted (guy with cig in his mouth and blindfolded waiting to take 20 rounds to the chest).....as dave mustaine would say, OBEY!#
