My uncle who was witnessed to by his boss, witnessed to my mother who was then baptized shortly before I was born. My uncle witnessed to all eight of his siblings who all studied and all but one was baptized. My mom is the only one of her siblings still active-the others were either DAd or Dfd.
My husband is a 3rd generation JW-his family is one of those families that Joel talked about- "large families who were Witnesses who were related to everyone in the circuit by blood or marriage"."plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers." -Veronica A. The "Coming" Anointed
by kes152 inlarsguy said:.
"if your messiah didn't appear in 1992, kes, then he ain't coming, or at least he's not the one promised in the bible.".
so tell me... where is that messiah that appeared in 1992?

Lars, I've got a possible candidate that meets some of your Messiah criteria. How about Michael Jackson!!! 1. black 2. former JW 3. seems a little gay to me
He may be lurking on apostate sites-I don't know but its a possibility!!

Last night at the bookstudy...
by MoeJoJoJo ini thought the box on page 152 of the creator book was interesting.. (the chapter is titled "a great teacher shows us the creator more clearly") the lesson was dealing with the sermon on the mount and the society says "here are some highlights that we can reap from this greatest sermon:".
seven points were mentioned, among them were "how to be happy, how to cope with anxiety..." and they list the chapter and verse from the sermon to go along.. the one point that caught my eye was "how to recognize religious fraud" and the scriptures for that point were matt.
and matt.7:15-23 which warns us about false prophets.

and Matt.7:15-23 which warns us about false prophets.
I wonder who the Society thinks that scripture applies to since they seem to think that it doesn't apply to them? Even though they have prophesied numerous times and none have come true.In the same box they quoted Mohandas Gandhi as saying "that by following its (Sermon on the Mount)teachings, we shall have solved the problems...of the whole world."
I thought that was an interesting quote.

Just about everyone I grew up with in my circuit either have cleaning jobs, work in some type of construction or retail. There's alot of brothers in construction (alot of them "have the privilege" of helping on the two-day KH's).
Please don't get me wrong, nothing is wrong with these types of jobs, they are gainful employment but, for the most part, not very high-paying. And you don't need a college degree.
My husband is also in construction and he works extremely hard trying to support our family.PS I'm glad you all understand me now, I'll explain myself better next time.

Everyone, I do get the point-no organization has the right to tell an individual whether or not they should or shouldn't acquire higher education. It is none of their business.
All I was saying is this---If I attended college back when I graduated, which was about fourteen years ago my father would have been removed as an elder. Now there are brothers holding positions in the congregation who are attending college themselves. And I am sure the CO is well aware. So give a newbie a break here, I was just making an observation.By the way, that WT article I cited was written by the Society not my local congregation.
I AGREE, THE SOCIETY DOES FLIP FLOP ON THIS ISSUE AS WITH MANY OTHERS AND THAT ITS ALL ABOUT CONTROL.
ALL THAT I WAS SAYING IS THAT THEY NO LONGER TAKE ACTION AGAINST YOU IF YOU ATTEND COLLEGE AND THEN I WENT ON TO RAMBLE OFF SOME POSSIBLE REASONS WHY. I WAS TRYING TO SAY THAT THEY LET UP A LITTLE NOT ENTIRELY.
If you don't agree with me that's fine but I do get the point. And I am angry about this issue just like the rest of you.
