i have been inactice now for about 4 months.

i keep getting visit from elders and well meaning ministerial servants.

i went back to two meetings about two weeks ago.

in the "what does the bible really teach" book, an attempt is made to illustrate the nature of satans challenge, as it explains suffering allowed to prove jehoahs' souvereignty.

on page 110 is given the illustration of a bright kid stepping up to the blackboard to show the elderly teacher (probably head of the teacher union chapter) * a more elegant way to solve those equations.

wt equates that situation to satans challenge.

It is a horrible illustration. In the illustration in the book.....it is a math problem......and if the kid is wrong.....he simply suffers some humiliation and the teacher is vindicated. But in reality.....a better comparison would be that of a chemistry issue. The kid insists that certain chemicals can be mixed. The teacher disagrees but allows the kid to mix the chemicals anyway. The kid causes an explosion that harms every single child in the entire school. THAT is the "just" way that God went about proving his sovereignty.

Loyalty Questions in Judicial Hearings

i've seen several posts on various threads about a particular "loyalty question" or two that elders ask during judicial hearings.

granted it's been several years since i was an elder, but i never heard of this practice.

is there anything officially in print on this from the wt?

I was DFd three weeks ago. They flat out asked me if I still believe the Watchtower society was Jehovah's organization. I told them "that remains to be seen.......I have so many questions that you are unwilling to answer. How can I be sure if the society is God's organization if you won't answer me? Your answers would go a long way toward helping me determine once and for all if the society truly is God's one and only organization." They determined that my lack of affirmative answer was enough to hang me.

Why are atheists so intent on scorning "believers"?

until recently, i had never encountered this word "believers" used as it is being used on this board, to describe pejoratively a group of people.

it's not clear to me whether they scorn all who have a faith of some sort.

do they include buddhists, hindus, followers of the baha'i faith, followers of the cargo cult, native americans along with christians, or is it just christians who are honoured with this epithet?.

I like point number 6 as well.

Even Dawkins leaves open the slight sliver of a possibility that there could be a god.

I am not saying that there is or isnt

If someone is athiest and firmly believes he/she is right.....that is fine.....lay out your case but respect the belief of others (as ridiculous as it may seem to you). If someone is a "believer" and firmly believes he/she is right.....that too is fine......lay out your case but please be respectful of those that do not share your (or any) level of faith.

We all have one thing in common. We got fed up with the Watchtower Society's dogmatic insistence that they alone are right all others that disagree are to be scorned or pitied. Let's learn something from that and respect one anothers' individuality.

A question for active or recent Elders about apostate judicial meetings...

in the shepherd the flock book, i did not really notice a protocol for how they judge and go about w/ apostates or those suspected.

i was wondering if there was a seperate letter or word of mouth instruction on that.

mainly.......are they told to not let the accused talk about their reasons and get into much detail, or at some point to not talk or listen to them at all, etc.

Trust me. Once they get the feeling like you no longer believe that the GB is directed by God (whether that is before or DURING your hearing) they will cut off all questions and the focus will turn to getting you to admit you don't believe that this is Jehovah's organization.
