more haphazard thougths on the recently concluded elder school..... a big chunk of time was spent on a video which traced a judicial case, all the way from the confession to the elders through the decision to disfellowship the guy.. here is a very brief synopsis of the video:.

tearful late-teen or early-20's publisher confesses to 2 elders that he committed fornication with a "worldly girl" who is now preganant and wants to marry him.

the elders give him some "homework" to do prior to his judcial committee - read psalm 51 and an old wt article.

Maybe there is something to the prophesy about the evil slave beating his fellow slaves because the Master is delaying.

The only value to this practice is the survivability of an organization like JW's in the face of chaos if there is a total breakdown of world government.

Organizations that have a group of leaders with training in expelling unruly members by para-judicial methods form a tight-knit and trusted cadre.

When You Were Sitting During The Meetings What Were You Really Thinkng About?

i used to listen to all the stupid comments and wonder if i could sneak out of there and scram!

even after i resigned as an elder, i went for a while and eventually began missing more and more meetings.

but while i was there, i'd listen to comments, chuckle to myself how dumb it all was and then go home with the knowledge that my days were numbered there..

What I think about the "We just love this idea" of David Splane

the jw.org video about the annual meeting contains david splane saying "we just love this idea", when talking about the adjusted fds doctrine.

"we just love this idea"????

when it becomes one of the fundament teachings of the organisational part of a religion, the rank-and-file witnesses are expected to be convinced about these kind of doctrines.

Normal Anointed?

has anyone ever met a professed anointed partaker that was normal?

i mean for a considerable amount of time, not just in audience listening to a talk?

no offense to any professed partakers on here, but the ones i have spent time with have all seemed a little off has that been your experience?.

When I was young (50 years ago) the annointed were those who came in when everyone was annointed. They were normal.

Basically anyone who is in their 90's and has been a witness all their life were as normal as the general population. (Most are now senile)

Anyone who says they are annointed today is probably a little off.

i will buy the video and watch it nekkid.. the last time i saw them was in 1994 at legion field with my best friend.

we still say after all these years it was one of the best nights of our lives.. .

Trying to be someone else?

when i was about 14 i started studying with witnesses.

my aunt conned me into, said we couldnt hang out if i didnt turn into a jehovahs witness.

i didnt really know anything about myself let alone the witnesses.

Who am I?

It's the wrong question. Although there is an answer to that question it is much too complicated and won't really help you much.

It's more important to ask: What do I want? Right now. Next year. Five years from now.

The next question is: How can I get what I want? Step1,Step 2,Step 3....

Next question is: How am I preventing myself from getting what I want.

i've got to say that it repulsed me.. yet, i knew one brother/elder who always commented that he wanted 'to see the wicked being destroyed.'.

I bought into the nonsense even taught it to others.

This is how it worked. It was kind of republican/conservative thinking.

Parents are responsible for their children.

If parents ignore God they will raise their children to ignore God.

Saving children of bad parents isn't fair to the responsible parents who raise their children to fear God.

It's a lesson humans have to learn even though it's painful to contemplate. The death of children leaves an indelible image of what happens when people stray from righteousness.

So make sure you take care to raise your kids right. It all depends on YOU.
