What did you do over the weekend?

i was bad!

we went to our cabin friday night till sunday.

i went through 3 cases of buttlight!

Enjoyed my hubby being home after a month long separation because of work, he is leaving tomorrow thou........boohoo.

We had a house full of kids probably about 13 kids, went shopping, got a haircut, went to a big fouth of July celebration. It was down on the Red River, and we listened to bands play, ate shrimp on a stick , turkey legs, and burnt the heck up it was so hot down here in Louisiana. The kids cooled off by playing in water spouts that come out of the ground , real nice city park thing, and we watched a huge fireworks show that was done ON the River on a barge. It was great!!

what did you do as a child (or adult) to survive boredom during meetings?.

as a child i remember sitting behind a sister with a pink angora sweater.

i would pull of a bit of the lint from it and tilt my head back and place it above my lips a bit.

..the one with the guy with his head thrown back and his mouth wide open where if you blocked out his neighbor just right, it looked like he had two right arms.

LMAO!!!!! Blew my drink out of my nose...........omg , I remember that guy in the songbook!!!

New here - hello, especially to Lyineyes

hello...i'm ginger, lyineyes' (dede) little sister and she is and has always been my everything.

i respect her and love her more than anything else i've ever known.

she introduced me to my true love donnie (wanderlustguy) seven years ago, and didn't even didn't know it at the time.

LOL @ PB, I mean SF, hehehe. Oh yeah I have come along way from my attack the apostate days....lol. I will never forget PB when Judy said your daughter was gonna die at armeggedon, even as a faithful JW, I told Judy that she was dead wrong to say that to you about your child. I always had a hard time believing that Jah was gonna kill the children at the end. I guess that is why , when I started reading about the new things my hubby was telling me, it struck my conscience as true, and that the JW was wrong. It was hard to leave it behind and for along time I doubted myself and my own judgement , but I always came back to feeling the JW was very wrong deep down.

So what is Judy up to? still drinking and chattin'? lol

Gin , we sure can have alot of fun here as you can see.......glad to have my real fleshly sister here, it helps to ease the missing you so much ,, at least we can also connect here as well.

What have you gained?

its two years since i last attended a meeting or thought of myself as a jw.

despite the prophesys of doom and gloom for those who leave the org i have gained lots and lost nothing.. i have much more time to spend with my husband which has led to our relationship improving fantastically.. i have a better relationship with my children who stopped going to meetings when they were teenagers.. i have become much closer to my family (i've just returned from yorkshire from my great nephews 1st birthday party.

my confidence has grown dramatically as i no longer view myself as worthless.. the guilt of not doing enough has gone.. i now have real friends.. the list goes on, but i really would like to hear what you've gained or hope to gain by leaving the borg.

Well said Bagpuss, I feel the same way.

I feel free, literally no painful chains of guilt around my legs and neck to struggle with each and everyday. My sleep was even fitful as a JW, I was so sick physically and mentally.

I enjoy even the little things so much more. Growing up JW, we learned how to put everything off, until the New World. I will go hiking , go swimming with the dolphins, have kids, etc. etc. when the New World is here. It was like walking thru a rose garden and never, even smelling the roses at all.

Now I do stop and smell the roses, quite literally. I watch in fasination as my children grown before my eyes, I soak up the kisses from my puppy, I smell the morning and the dew on the grass even deeper than before , because I have learned that I don't know if there will be a life after this one. So I am going to take each day and just soak everything up from it that I can,,,,,,,,,,no regrets, just live life.

been lurking for a while, been doubting for a very long time.

Welcome Hope it is great to have you,,,,,,,there are some great people from Wisconsin right here on this board. Scootergirl, Eyegirl, Joannadandy, Xenawarrior to name just a few that I know personally , have met in the flesh and call them my sisters. There is nothing like having friends when you are going thru so much in life,,,,,it just softens the blow of losing your religion and letting go .

I have to say that Gumby's post to you was so heartfelt and full of emotion...........I learned some things about him in that post I never knew. Gumby you are such a cool person, I loved this statement you said:

It's odd we we dubs can live with ourselves when we sin like that.....yet we might allow a child to die over losing blood. We keep our integrity in the drawer we WANT to keep it in and justify in our minds the rightfulness of our actions.

This is so true, it reminded me of when my youngest baby was born, 2 months early..........so sick and he could have needed a blood transfusion. I had already went thru two other babies that could have died over the blood issue crap. I was not going to let this one die,,,,,,,it was much more serious. I decided that I would give him blood and take all the blame, get d/f and then repent. At least I would have the baby alive and I really felt that Jehovah would forgive me. Of course I couldnt tell anyone or they would get in trouble for this. Later, Denny told me that he was going to do the same thing if Chance needed blood. That was just the begining of my mind finding independence and thinking for myself.

As a child I colored the dinoasaur in the green bible , red. I drew a person hanging out of his mouth with blood drippin' from it as well. I got a whippin' for that . I tried to sneak a little tiny doll in my pocket but was busted, got a whippin' for that. I tried to not fall asleep but only laughed out loud at everything and got whippin's mostly for that.

As an adult I would sit next to my MIL and we would make snide remarks about the sexist comments from the brothers on stage. We laughed at anything that struck our fancy, without anyone seeing us laugh of course. Note writing was our best way to communicate as it took time to write and send the note down over three or four kids and not be seen.

My son and I would sit next to each other and draw over the illustrations in the WT's. He is so damn witting and had me rolling at the pictures he did. He had Jesus in a mullet, Peter had a bee hive hairdo and earrings, and high heels. Just stuff like that.....making cartoon bubbles, of what people were realling thinking in the mags.....funny stuff, that as good JW's we would never say!!

Mulan , you are so sweet , it is a beautiful thing , the relationship you and Rachel have. I love braggin' on my kids too, and I love to see parents with grown "kids" still braggin' on them. Ya'll just make me smile........

Me and Denny have been married for 20 years,,,,,and we hear how many people are shocked since we both married at 18 and have made it this long. THe other day,,,,,,,,a kid I just met who was playing with my youngest son, asked if all three of my kids have the same Daddy. Since Denny is working away from home alot, I guess I look like a single mother.

Congrats again Rachel and Steve!!! Go are we all gonna make the 50 year mark?? hehe, lets hope so!!

I have been on this board for about 3 years and have told so many painful stories and shared many of the good things in my life, like the kids as well.

At first I was hurting so much ,,,,,,,with all the JW things, you know losing my religion hurt me almost as bad as losing Mama. Maybe in some way it hurt worse if that makes sense. I lost my faith, and most of all my hope. I lost who I thought I was. I learned how to accept myself without the idenitity of a religion ,and I have healed , but the scars will always be there. I don't mind the scars, it just reminds me that time does heal, but we don't forget, but we do get stronger.

You have alot of healing to do Gin, and you will . Just write what you want,,,,,,,,you know I have always loved writing, it really does make you feel better. It has helped me so much to express myself freely here.

Well, got to run,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I love you and always will,,,,,,,,you are very much missed here in hot as hades , Louisiana!! Hope to see you soon!!

My son just went to the hospital

he has been on several pain medications for his back, he is disabled with it.

he was seeing people outside his house that wasn't there.

he saw an alien in his closet and was talking to it and trying to help it cool down, he was hot himself.

I hope that is all it was Ken, the pills doing that. That happened to me when I was 17 , I had foot surgery and was taking Percodan....I saw my Mother in my room and was talking to her, then she disappeared. I also saw an elephant walking past my bedroom window....lol.

Well, I didnt take anymore Percodan, but my Mom stashed it for her later use......

no one to talk to

i guess this is my introductory post.. like many of you, i was raised as a witness.. like many of you, i'm no longer associated with them.. it still hangs over me like a plague.

it's really annoying.

i haven't been to a meeting in 4 years, i'm "out of the closet" - my parents know i'm no longer interested, my oldest brother won't talk to me... etc.

Welcome to the board, it will not take long to find friend here, and even thou we are not friends , who can see each other often, we truly are friends. Not just cyber friends. I talk to many on the phone, yahoo messanger , have met many in person, and some have lived with me or visit.

It just takes time to build up a new network of friends, but it is so worth the effort because for once in my life I have friends I can tell everything to,,,,,,,not hiding behind a JW indentity .

Without my friends here , leaving the JW's would have probably been so much harder. My friends here have brought me happiness and filled the void when I left my "brothers' and "sisters" behind because I disassociated myself.

I hear that there may be a chat room here on this board to be started up again, hopefully soon, and that really helped me when I first came here. You can really make great friends in real time chat. Until then , just keep posting and replying and you will find people you can really identify with and that have similar interest.

Good luck on your journey out of the JW's , it is not easy , but worth it .
