WHY ARE YOU HERE?

joy2bfree and i have so enjoyed meeting over 70 of the posters here on jwd in the last few months.

this has brought us even closer to many, yet the things i learned about each made me even more concerned about others here.

i hope each is getting what they need from this cyberpub we visit.

I've been really busy and haven't been to the board lately and Unforturnately I missed the Edmunds Apostafest. Where was it? I hope far from where I live so I don't feel so bad that I wasn't there and missed out on all the fun.

Why I am here?, at first I was here learning. I must admit, although I was already on my way out, some of the things I learned here expedited my desire to leave. I also got some much needed advice and support. I learned about the Grace conference in June that I went to from this board and it was very helpful. Especially in the beginning of my exit, you can get support and noone knows who you are, it is safe from exposure, which as you all know when your leaving is important. I also got hooked up with some old friends that I knew as witnesses and have left the borg. I come now for continued support and for news, who? whats? getting exposed, and to offer support for others.

Hi Zev, So then the WT is actually an Apostate, they have certainly left the teachings of the Lord! I in that case would not be an Apostate because I am adhering to the Christian teaching as set forth in the Bible. I thought an apostate was someone who left their faith. In that case I left the faith of the Jehovah's Witnesses and would be an Apostate and I might say PROUD APOSTATE if that be the case.

I noticed that you left around the same time as me. What made you leave after 40 years?

How Many Here Have Been Shunned?

as most of you already know, the jehovah's witnesses are covering an article in their august kingdom ministry to be discussed the weeks of 8/19 and 8/26 which details how they are to shun and avoid those who are no longer members of their organization, even immediate family members.. .

undoubtedly this article has been written to reinforce to the rank&file jehovah's witnesses the shunning policy, so as to tighten the ranks and prevent members from having the opportunity to learn the abundant contradictions and hypocrisies found within watchtower doctrine and practice from any who may have left.. this policy also serves to divide families and attempt to shame or abuse those whom have chosen to no longer be jehovah's witnesses, for whatever reason.. that much is obvious.

in recent days this topic has been discussed in detail in various threads.

I'm not DA or DF'd and some of the people in my cong have started shunning me. I stopped attending meetings completely around 6 months ago, I told one person why I stopped going to meetings she in turn told some elders who then came over to "Encourage" me and my husband. Various ones in the cong have come by to say they've missed us etc. My daughters' "use to be" best friend is not allowed to associate with her anymore because her parents say we're Apostates. My daughter and I were in the store the other day and this other girl who I've known her whole life saw us and looked right at my daughter turned away and actually grabbed a cart and practically ran away from us. It kind of irked me, but then I told my daughter "hey for fun we could follow her and see if she runs out of the store"

If he wasn't a freemason, why did he use two of their symbols on his magazines? Also why would he have put those symbols on his gravesite? Seems rather suspicious to me!

i feel the need for a rant!

i had a conversation with my jw elder father tonight that has left me seething.

just to set the scene, i left the jws back in 1994. i was baptized, having been dfd and reinstated a couple of years prior to my final exit in 94. i was never dfd again and pretty much left to my own devices.

Not really any of my business, but why do you live "in sin" and not get married. I take it you are not a Christian. Do you think it sets a good example for your kids? Would you want them to just live "in sin" and not get married? I'm just curious what your line of thinking on the matter is?

I think what your Dad said is SO Jehovah's Witness! forgive him he is just mind controlled and in a cult.

He really loves you and in his mind there is no hope for you unless you change your ways.

I kinda feel out of tune with the board

i've read lots of the threads over the past months, and think i understand the board's "makeup" of people (and please correct me if i'm wrong).

if i'm right, i might have a hard time relating to what the rest of you have gone through.. i became a jw in 1979 or so, and spent more time studying to be one than being one.

i was df'ed a short time later, briefly went through an effort to rejoin, and called it off when my first child was born.

You know it's interesting that you still accept their doctrines. Did you know that most people don't believe the trinity as the watchtower says they do.

The trinity is not saying that God and Jesus are the same person. They are of the same essence. As is the Holy Spirit. It is really a Tri-Unity not a Trinity. That is why there is God-the father, God-the son, and God-the Holy Spirit. Not three Gods but 3 persons are one God. First of all you have to understand that the bible does not teach that God created Jesus, its says that Jesus was begotten of the father. That is two totally different teachings. Where in the bible does it say that Jehovah is the big God and Jesus is a little lesser God.

The first thing you have to do is stop using the NWT of the bible, it is filled with inaccuracies. You can use any other translation but that one, it is the worst.

You might want to spend some time looking at the resurrection and how the new testament doesn't talk about some being resurrected to earth and others to heaven. Revelation chapter 7 talks about the 144,000 and the great crowd both being "before the throne" that is in heaven.

These are just a few things that are incorrect.

The WT society is not as stupid as they seem. They are a multi-million dollar corp. What is their purpose for amassing the millions of dollars. What do they use their money for. They don't live high so to speak. Why do the court cases always seem to go their way. Perhaps they have friends in high places (and I don't mean in heaven). The vast majority of dubs aren't involved but some of the higher ups are not as stupid as they would like you to believe.
