Its the same mentality that allowed us to both condemn christmas with an animal ferocity, and cry while we watch our neighbors put up trees, have company, give presents and sing beautiful songs to the Lord. The only reason that the society says FIVE MEETINGS A WEEK is for bragging purposes. Thats all. They can OUT DO all those CHRISTENDOM types by saying FIVE MEETINGS A WEEK and the other guy assumes the poor bastard is there every freakin night of the week and the JW LETS THEM think that. she would do this in order to speak with her life long friends and her youngest daughter, all of whom are quite emotionally distraught due to her dfing.

Hi Lisa and MomObobeesa :) I didnt read all of these wonderful replies so I hope Im not repeating everything. But I know a couple of things are absolutes in this whole scenario...there are 6 BILLION people in the world, and even tho it will be hard to be away from the "friends" and I use the term loosely, that you made in the Borg, there are so many WONDERFUL people outside its hallowed walls that would be TRUE friends to you. This board proves that beyond a shadow. Nobody here would leave you because some bunch of old farts in Brooklyn deemed you worm meat, threatening your friends that if they too didnt treat you like worm meat, they would be worm meat too. You dont need them. They are like old shoes, I know that, but old shoes were new shoes once too. You can make new ones. Dont be afraid to venture out of your box. :)
The other thing is, this is not GODS organization...in fact its rules bylaws and nonsense have nothing whatsoever to do with God. Hence if you played along with its assinine rules in order to be able to talk to your loved ones, God in his WISDOM, a quality the Org lacks, would not even blink at the seeming hypocrisy of doing so. They use Rahab as their example of how its OK TO LIE in order to protect yourself or someone you love dont they? You can certainly say you are "back" without actually becoming one again. I know a man who did so for the purpose of getting his children back. The JWs had hid them...and by "going back" he got their guard down and the children once he had them again, were put into his sole custody.
They believe they do what they need to do to "please Jehovah" and you know that the Creator of the Family would NOT approve of them tearing yours apart. She can, in my humble opinion, do whatever she deems necessary to get her loved ones back into her life with an absolutely clear conscience. AS for the friends...if they choose to continue to shun her because she isnt "spiritual" enough...dump em. You will have accomplished what you wanted anyway.
The Society's Public Relations web page says specifically that they do NOT shun those who cease to be in the religion. Would they make themselves liars?
Personally I couldnt pull this off...they'd get me sooner or later :)

by Big Jim init seems like to me the majority of people who are in the truth, are were in the truth was a result of either a family member are a friend witnessing to them and not many seem to have been found in the door to door work.. from my years of associating with the borg i cannot recall many coming in the truth from the door to door work.. how were you sucked in?
for me it was my aunt who has now even though i am not disfellowshipped decided to write me out of her will to the tune of about $150,000.00 (maybe i should hang around a couple more years)dont think i will.. please respond .

Auspicious beginnings...I was picked up in a club by a JW who shouldnt have been there let alone picking up worldly divorcees...and we slept together. Now I know he was counting TIME there next to me. Boy if that aint a red flag on the play I dont know what is! And he was born in it..mom annointed, dad was an elder. No excuses.
In 13 years I never brought anybody in from door to door stuff.

Doesnt that just warm your heart, all that love from Jehovah in that little paper back? I so love to hear from the loving brothers and sisters who come here to visit us poor, vile, Godless, condemned ones...throwing us a crumb of attention from waaaaaay up there on that sacred, spirit-directed, holy mantle. We so long for some acknowledgement from our former "friends." We do nothing else all day but pine away for our former gilded status as one of Jehovahs CHOSEN ONES...framing our Blood Cards as constant reminders of our doom. Thank you...for reminding us of how we all once were, before we grew hearts, and were just too sexy for our bookbags.

Hi IAAI :) Welcome. Finding out what a religious sect believes is a whole lot different than joining one...and in this case, joining the JWs is like Hotel California. You can check out but you cannot leave. They own you...they separate you from all your nonJW family and nonJW friends, they control your speech, your whereabouts, your preaching or not preaching, your answering questions or not answering questions, your very thought processes become theirs. If you dont adhere to ALL of their petty rules and pharisaic religious tenets, they punish you...publically. If you think any of this sounds UNChristian...you would be correct. The JWs believe that they and they alone are Christians. That they and they alone have Gods ear when praying. That they and they alone are qualified to preach the "good news" that Jesus said to declare. They believe that they and they alone will survive Armageddon. They believe that they alone will be in paradise...and they pray for the destruction of all other people...all 6 billion of them including you. The JWs will not allow you to read or research ANYTHING that is against their beliefs. They will not allow you to ASSOCIATE or SPEAK TO anyone who used to be a JW. They will excommunicate you if you do, and they will disown you...and in the case of many, take away your family and every JW you have ever gotten to know.
Does this sound like something you want to be forever tethered to? Millions of us...left. Do the research but be VERY careful what you agree to. They are master manipulators. If you have ANY questions...ask them on this board. Not asking would be taking the Used Car Salesman's word on it that you are buying a "real cherry of a car".
