Barbour and 1874 contra 1914
by beroea inbarbour and 1874 contra 1914. does anyone have some information about why and how barbour change that the gentiles times first was to end in 1874 and later on to 1914. i have some information about his statements about the year 1974 as the year for the return of jesus (parausia) and also the year of the end of the gentile times.
i have read the case of carl oluf jonsson, but have found no good explanation to this question: why and how did he change the gentiles times to end in 1914 instead of 1974 as first counted.
i think these questions are important because russell adopted the chronology of barbour almost in total.. .

Nice one on giving us a date for when things will be wrapped up. Only problem is, its 974 years away. Thats the idea, think far ahead in the future, that way you wont be alive and have to explain yourself when your prophecy fails to be fulfilled.

The Rainbow as a sign to Noah

the bible tells us that it rained for forty days and forty nights.. it stopped raining and noah & co floated around for a bit.. when they landed, noah sacrificed some of the animals (weren't they in short supply?
) and god promised never to bring a deluge upon then earth again.. to back this up, there was a rainbow in the sky as a sign.. now, what causes a rainbow?

Dont forget before Noah the earth was cursed. After the flood, Jah lifted that curse, and what is one of the vital ingredients to grow crops?
RAIN.
I think the rain was more of a good thing, showing Noah he had fulfilled the above promise by setting a balance so crops could grow.
