Mandisa who was on American Idol a few years ago is good. She has some really good "Christian" songs that are very positive.

Christian Music
by free2beme inwhy is it, that those with less talent tend to sing and produce christian music?
then their efforts are not labeled as a waste of time, but rather a praise of god and thus makes anyone who wants to actually say the truth about their quality think, "i am some home speaking out against god.
" just something i noticed, as i walked through a park recently that had a christian concert of people who sung like crap with a lot of applause..

@DTW - I have thought about this notion many times, of being a Witness for Jehovah as it says in Isaiah 43:10-12 but not being a member of the WT Organization. The only problem I can see is that at some point the divergence could be so great that a person may be closer to a non denomiational church.
If we start putting strict rules on what a "real" JW believes and what a follower of the WTO believes, we risk becoming the thing we despise. Why not just allow each Christian Witness to study and pray and decide for himself how he serves our Heavenly Father and his King Christ?

Stop bashing Awake! (You just might be making it better.)
by Open mind inthe august 2011 awake!
contains the most secular article i've ever read in this magazine.
it's entitled "ibn battuta reveals his world".

@Open Mind - You live up to your screen name. There are many many examples of articles about nature, science, history, etc. I especially like the ones that ask "Could it have evolved? Or was it Designed"? These just inform and ask legitimate questions.
Also many articles on marriage, forgiveness, etc. are also good. Too bad the rest is 98% junk lol.

This convention blows
by Anony Mous inseriously, half day in (already had an argument with the wife this morning about individuality in the organization in which she conceded that a lot of it is based on looks) and this is already getting on my nerves.
i'll post a rebuttal based on my annotations later in the week but one thing i got to get off my mind: saying the feminist movement (women going to work instead of staying home) and the diversity laws (allowing for homosexuality - but also religious freedom, racial discrimination etc.
) caused a lot of the problems in our world right from the stage.. there are less people here than last year - about 500 less..

You love to comment on things you have no actual knowledge of and I suppose that's what bugs some of us on here.
Example: You post on a thread directed to JW elders, saying "I am an Elder in a Christian church..." and then go on to talk off topic about something you have no knowledge or experience of.
Example: Scooterspank said this on yet ANOTHER thread you derailed: "I see a lot of threads that start out as someone seeking help/people offering help/people seeking information but get totally thrown off subject by godrulz." ...Is he wrong? Are all of us wrong and YOU are the only sane one? Or could it be that we have a point?
Example: This thread we are on right now is WAS about the District Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses. And how it blows... And then you post "Proclaim the risen Christ, the King of the kingdom...Hall-ay-loo-yah blah blah blah blah."
It doesn't make sense. You aren't even a JW or exJW- which is of course OK, you have a right to speak. But it's like me posting on a thread of a forum for retired veterinarians about how to treat a dog's rabies...why would they care what I thought on that topic? Because I read a book about it or was an amateur doggie doctor? Would they then put credence in my words and value my post? NOPE. What if I mentioned that my dog had worms on the thread about rabies but used big words like "eschatological component"? Would they appreciate my observation then? NOPE again.

Jesus is NOT the Mediator for the Great Crowd?
by Resistance is Futile inso according to the watchtower, jesus is not the mediator for the great crowd.
evidently jesus is only mediator for the anointed.
this means that about 99.9% of jehovahs witnesses cant say that jesus is their mediator.

Best way to step down from being a servant
by RayPublisher inhey i'm wondering if anyone can give some good advice on how to step down in the safest way.. i have served as an ms for a number of years, but can't do it anymore.
i know too much i want to fade in the future when i get some family things straightened out.
i can't move right now so that's out unfortunately.. what should i tell the body?

@SIAM - No closing prayer. I have heard of that "tradition" but it's not a big deal to me and I've never seen it happen myself. I will be at most of the meetings, out in service, blah blah blah for awhile as my fade schedule is a slow one.
@Charly Brown - Thanks for the humor. None of the elder's wives are exactly my *type* lol. Oh yes, and listen to Mr Massey- like your life depended on it lol...

Tonight I disassociated myself - after 24 years - had 2 hour meeting with Elder
by Intel ini am now sitting at home.
my wife left with my little child.
my fault (i dislike the word "fault", but don't have a better one right now).. it feels strange, relieved and free, at the same time it was all very strange.

You are going to be fine INTEL. And not dwelling on negativity and even *this place* when you are down is a good move on your part.
The best way to "get back" at all these haters is to be happy, successful, responsible, be a father to your child, etc. That is when you break out of the "angry, disturbed, sad apostate" stereotype myth that is taught by the WTO and believed by the rank and file.
Good luck and we hope you keep us posted in the future with "happy threads" of what you are doing POST-WT.

@OTWO - Thank you bro. I have been defrocked! Yes the collapsing bell-curve fading style is recommended. I think I read about it on another thread from 8.3 years ago but progressive light has caused me to re-examine that method and now reject it as the teachings of men.
@MrDarkKnight - you are so right I'm gonna get me an edumacation sumday right now!
