Where the GB gets their info....
by RagingBull inokay...so in the "revelation - its grand climax at hand!
" book, at the end of page 124 to 125...there is mention of "resurrected ones" of the annointed class/24 elders that may be the ones communicating information to the governing body.. 1. thought we were not to communicate with the spirit realm (scriptural).
2. does the "may be" mean that they don't even know, really, who's communicating with them?.

@Billy - good point. I am trying to keep things friendly because I don't want to arouse any more suspicion plus out of respect for my (still asleep) wife as she is aware of my activity and that I am *sorta* apostate in my thinking according to the WTS.
Nice "hostage negotiation line" though, I'll use that if need be :-)
@Mr flipper - hindsight is 20/20 as they say. Plus I can honestly say that I felt like I encouraged a lot of the friends w talks, being balanced, etc. and not worshipping the Org as some do. As usual, the best always leave first lol.

Watchtower Publications for iPad
by dontplaceliterature ini discovered today that the september magazines and the nwt are available as epub files on the jw.org website.
that's pretty handy for those of you with ipads that have the interest in reading them (especially those still "in").
i'm guessing this works with e-readers and other tablets.. what is particularly noteworthy is that when opened in ibooks, the articles have links to all the scriptures, footnotes, etc, and links back to the paragraph.

I remember them mentioning the letter and it was supposed to be put up on the info board but it never was. They rarely read the contents of these from the platform anymore- so I missed that.
Your estimation is right I believe. It would be pennys per item IMO.

I feel good mostly. (Of course it's the alcohol talking, lol)
The meeting I had with them was easy, they gently probed but were very complimentary about how I was one of the best speakers in the hall, they wanted to re-appoint me as an elder in the near-future, did not see this coming, etc. I recorded the whole thing just in case but it's pretty dull stuff and only lasted about 30 minutes.
One *weird* thing (to me) was that they said that I may be required by the CO to attend the Servants and elders meeting on Friday evening. They said he may approach me and ask me to be there and they felt I should go if he asks because technically I'm still a servant. Initially I felt like I wouldn't, but maybe I will. I'm not sure.
I am trying to be pretty "normal" through this period of time and then later after several months I will miss more meetings and slow down a bit more. That's the plan.

@Andrew - Yes there is at least one longer clip of Rutherford.
When I was at Bethel they put on a talent show they call family night. They screened about 4-5 minutes of an old home movie of him walking around Beth Sarim in San Diego. There was no sound recorded, but it was in color and he was picking fruit, being funny, smiling, winking, even putting his tongue out at one point.

UPDATE: 3 weeks has gone by since submitting step-down letter.
Have been asked to meet with two of the elders this evening at the KH so they can "help" me. They are pretty low-key guys so we will see if that holds or not. Then CO visit this week...

@Anon - I love the point about how "expensive" it is for every download and how pubs will need to contribute for it.
That I can see popping up in an ACTUAL letter from the branch at some point because they are gradually cannibalizing some of their publishing interests as more switch over to electronic formats. Very few in our KH order bound volumes any more- like less than 5%.

My First DC 'Mentally Out'
by breakfast of champions inas the title indicates, the 2011 summer convention was my first one 'mentally out', and wow!
how can anyone stand this stuff?
demons, demons everywhere: yes, evidently after jesus kicked satan and his big hornets nest full of demons down to earth in 1914, they're all mean and nasty and just around every corner!

Yeah I wish the quality of the speakers was better- only a fraction of the speakers had outstanding public speaking talent and that makes it harder to appreciate/listen.
And the final talk was... a n t i c l i m a c t i c to the extreme.

Completly right, John 6:68 is WHOM, not WHERE a person should go. But if God approves of all sincere Christians, whether Catholic, Baptist, et al, then why would the JWs be excluded? Aren't there some that may have his approval?
And if that's the case, then why couldn't there be some relaxing on DFing, conscience matters, etc. Unlikely, but all things are possible with God.
This site is pretty intertesting: www.jwreform.org
