My wife did NOT appreciate the single red rose that I gave her today.
Today became pretty much the closest I've come to walking out the door.
Ah, well, life continues to grind on!

Another poem, on this auspicious occasion.
It's great to have the freedom to send a Valentine's note.
Since the sender cannot be anonymous, on this board, the recipient must be.
Who is it for?Valentine's Day
A day of worth, a day of cheer,
When happiness abounds.
For who's the lucky one, indeed,
To whom love's dart has found.A silent protest, never voiced,
A smile puts up a fight
That someone, unknown, sent a note
But really there's delight. The heart does leap, the smile grows deep,
An inner tremble quakes.
A quick'ning interaction, for
A gushing torrent breaks. To think that out there is a soul,
In contemplation bringing,
The rich rewards of love's true charm.
A heart that now is singing.LT

Do shepherding calls help? my experience
by nightwing02 infirst i must start off by saying my wife and i have not attended meetings in awhile,so i knew that was the main point of the visit.when the two elders arrived at my home they were both happy and smiling.i told them how i was deeply depressed over the death of my best friend, and granfather, and the guilt i felt of not visiting and calling them much.i talked to my best friend a day before he died he seemed fine, but the next day he died of a heart attack.i also told them how i had become istant from my wife.they asked if i told hyer i loved her everyday and i replied no.and 1 of the elders said well remember what happened with your best friend, the same can happen with your wife,i felt that was a cold statement.but basically what they told us go to the meetings, and go out in field service 1 brother i felt did have some kind of compassion, the other who came in smiling looked like he was disgusted with me.i dont know i feel just as empty before they came i think i will see a therapist.

Regarding Shepherding (ha) visits, IMHO the time would have been better spent in five minute bursts actually talking to publishers in the hall (not that I want to give the GB any ideas!). Wouldn't that be a novel idea? A whole five minutes of quality time, instead of "Hi...Bye!".
The program usually resulted in beration or sycophantic back slapping.
But whilst they are happy to waste their time in this manner, rather than gaining new converts, I guess it will continue to erode the elders abilities on the ministry.
To be frank, I prefered informal time with the friends, rather than the orchestrated malarky of "official" visits. That brings me to another thought - did any of you count your time during shepherding visits?
I never did, and was retiscent to ask about it, having scoured the literature for an answer.
Due to the high number of shepherding visits by pioneer elders, I suspect that others did.
Fortunately I had long stopped pioneering, with it's time mentality, before I became an elder. -

Micheal the ArcAngel/Jesus the man
by plmkrzy ini understand that a lot believe that micheal and jesus are one in the same some believe that jehovah and jesus are one in the same some believe that one is the son of god yadda yadda yadda.. would some of you please address or post your reasons for believing that micheal the arc angel was not gods first creation and why he couldn't be the one sent to us to be born as a man and become our savyor?
why would he not have another name fitting his role as a man on earth?
he obviously wouldn't be living on earth as a child growing up as an angel.

Leave your cadaver to medical science ??????
by alliwannadoislive ininteresting little thought .... i've decided to dedicate my body to medical school, and just before i die, i'm going to swallow a little plastic toy.
that way, the medical student who cuts me open will get a nice surprise.
i just hope the other medical students aren't sad because they didn't get a toy with their cadaver, too.

1. Yes.
2. A small shark/dogfish and a compressed coke can.I think it would be far cooler to fall into a bog, at the point of death, leaving my remains to be found many years from now.

Pretty pictures, but how do you substantiate that in scripture?
Further, where's the seventh heaven and cloud nine? -

Bible Students
by Justin inas is well known, not all bible students remained with the wt in the years following pastor russell's death, and so today there are a number of groups that still identify themselves as bible students and have more or less retained russell's original teachings.. my question, for anyone who may have knowledge of this matter, is: what do the present day bible students believe about the availability of the high calling (heavenly calling) for people who newly associate with them and who make a consecration/dedication to do god's will?
in view of the supposed lateness of the hour, do they have anything similar to the "other sheep" class in the jws?.
please don't respond by telling me what the orthodox view is (that there aren't two classes to begin with) - we all know that.

I started researching them a few years ago (but was blinded by the borg, and never did anything with the knowledge).
I found the North Seattle Bible Students page was helpfully, complete with Studies in the Scriptures and the Divine Plan: -

JWs doctrines - GB's interest
by tosko inwho can prove to me or show me that jws have teachings or even doctrines that are there to servce the interest s of the gov.body.
by this i mean, if it wasn't in their interest, they wouldn't stress these doctrines (teachings) or wouldn't even exist for them.
what particular teachings serve their interests?.

I was asked by an elder, after my DA, what earthly motive the GB could have to mislead everyone.
I blush when I recall that my mind went blank - I couldn't think of a valid reason, and hadn't really considered that particular question so directly.
The answer comes more readily, now:
