Question about "The Kingdom"
by TimothyT inwe have just come back from our second visit to the baptist church.

Hi everyone,
We have just come back from our second visit to the Baptist Church. Again, it was fabulous. Since being disfellowshipped, i have only wanted two things: A place to be accepted and a place where i can have good upbuilding bible instruction and discussion. This church is fab for that.
In the sermon, the minister read Matthew 6:33 about seeking the Kingdom first in our lives. Being a JW for 15 years or so, it was my understanding that the Kingdom is something that we are waiting for to come in the future as prayed for in the Lords Prayer. But the minister relayed it in a different way. He spoke of the Kingdom as being inside us. He mentioned that as Christians we want to emulate the qualities of the leader of that kingdom and allow it to enter into us. I find this take very obscure, but quite refreshing to think about. So here is my question:
Is the Kingdom something inside us, is it a Kingdom which will one day come to the earth, or is it both?
Thanks,

I would like to think of myself as an academic. Im starting my second degree and i enjoy research. When i see a statement backed up by references and support from a credible source, sometimes i get excited. Here is something from today's Watchtower. Try to notice any credible sources which could make the VERY POWERFUL statement mentioned here valid:
We can enter into Jehovah’s rest—or join him in his rest—by obediently working in harmony with his advancing purpose as it is revealed to us through his organization. 17 On the other hand, if we minimized the Bible-based counsel that we receive through the faithful and discreet slave class, choosing to follow an independent course, we would be placing ourselves at odds with God’s unfolding purpose. (The Watchtower, 15th July 2011, page 28)
Yes, the only source is the one who is writing the statement. There is no scriptural support given in the article as to why the FDS have the power or the responsibility to dish out Jehovah's purposes. Actually, i rather enjoyed reading this article, but, of course, when i reached the last 2 paragraphs... apart from chuckling to myself, it made me want to rip up the magazine and throw it in the bin. I tell you now, i dont know why i keep reading this trash, but it just enrages me more and more. WHY CANT JW'S SEE IT? "The organisation are Jehovah's chosen organisation?" "Says who?" "Well... the organisation do!" Does this sound like circular reasoning? I cant help but think about all those people i grew up with, who i loved very much, sitting there this morning and being wilfully spoon fed this nonsensical bo**ocks!
I pray that my old friends and ALL those trapped in this organisation WAKE UP!

Were any of you anointed?
by TimothyT indid any of you feel that mystical force telling you that you were of the anointed class?.

Do you think so Sizemilk? I kind of feel that some of them drink the bread and the wine because they have TRULY understood those verses in Matthew or Luke, and have said, we SHOULD BE PARTAKING OF THIS no matter what anyone says. My dad certainly felt that. I wonder if millions of JWs do to but they are too afraid to voice their opinion in threat of being disfellowshipped.
For the 'anointed' though... they just take it, and no one ever questions their authority. Why should they? The JWs say its between you and Jehovah, which i suppose it is.

Lol... when i saw on the main thread list that my thread has had one reply from a punkofnice... my heart leapt... i thought you were going to say yes, and then explain to me all the shizz involved.
My dad said in April (when we were both fading out) that if he ever goes to the memorial again, he will partake of the bread and the wine because he thinks all CHristians should do it. He said if he did there would be a right stink up. HAHAH!!! He was such a good elder and also very much loved, but he loves personal bible study and if there is somat that makes no sense he will question it and if its nonsense he wont believe it (eg... the Generations thingy)! Anyway, if he did partake, it would simply mean that he now has more power than all others in our hall. Lol!
Errr... whatever... i dont think he believes this anymore.

Yes... well its clear to me the more i read the bible that the WTS LOVESSSSSSSSSSS to disregard context. And Punk... when you hear bros and sis, eg. your wife telling you to read the bible, that kind of thing would pi55 me off a fair bit.
Before i wanted closure on my situation with the org, i remember my dad saying to me, that even though neither of us are perfect in Gods eyes, he firmly believes that we both had a better understanding of the bible than ANY JW, for the simple reason that we read it in context. I hate seeing scriptures taken out of context and used for purposes not intended. I also hate the old Watchtower studies which are topical and pull scriptures from any old book of the bible to say what the GB want it to say. In reality, reading the bible is not enough - UNDERSTANDING and APPLYING it properly is what is important.
As regards the name Jehovah, i have now idea if its his name, just the same as i dont know if Jesus name is correct. I think though, in reality, a name is a name... its the person BEHIND the name which is important. Back then names were used to describe the person (i think).

Haha... Thats a good argument!
I remember my brother and I went through a phase of calling our dad by his first name which he didnt mind whatsoever. One day a sister heard my brother say it, and she stopped him and said, "excuse me be thats very disrespectful!" My dad, being the kind of guy he is, said to her, "Hold on a second, you call our father in the heavens by his first name. Is that not also very disrespectful, if not even more disrespectful?" How do you answer that? I suppose its interesting to note hoe Jesus reminded us to pray... Our father, who is in the heavens...
