Beware the educated, they are mentally diseased.
by JonathanH insaw this poster on a website and i had to post it here.
i think it really shows the twisted way of thinking that witnesses have cultured into them.
they turn virtues into vices, and vices into virtues.

Love it JonathanH!
Its strange... i understand why i was SEVERELY discouraged from going to uni. It had nothing to do with morals or debt. It was simply because at university you are taught to use your head and view situations and problems from outside the box. One of my JW friends noticed that as I was progressing through uni i was becoming more critical of the organisation, which she said was dangerous. She said that human wisdom would bring me away from Jehovah. Oh to the contrary!
Human wisdom made me realise that this organisation is far removed from the bible. From studying the bible, i have become closer to God and his son.
Anyway, the picture makes me feel proud to be educated.
Thanks for posting it. xxx
ps. I know a Jonathan H... He is a very educated man too, and a part of me could see him on this site actualy. :)

Sigh...
Once again the Christian principles of love, respect and reason have gone down the swanny in this organisation and have been replaced with cold, rigid protocol. They claim to be faithful and discreet slaves and Jesus disciples, yet for some reason they are eager to procure whatever Gold they can get their hands on for themselves (Matthew 10:9). Why is money so important to them when they are 'Jehovahs organisation'?
Little by little, this organsation moves further and further away from Christianity. Its becoming more and more apparant.

Is it important to be right?
by mankkeli insometimes, i think, our western values have drilled in us the importance of "winning" a debate on something of non-importance.. so is "winning" a debate really important?.
-
TimothyT
I feel being right is important. But if someone can reason with me that im not right then ill happily listen because i may learn something from then and then i may learn what is right in this certain aspect of discussion. I think the more important aspect of debating and discussing is not winning but learning and understanding. If both sides are open to this then I think its a worthwhile debate. If one side is closed minded and are completely wrong, i woudlnt even bother trying to win a debate against them.

Hello Brother Quendi. :)
I see what you are saying. I most certainly agree that if you want to understand the bible and its message then deep bible study is required. I would reason that Jesus used very clever forms of teaching that encouraged his listeners to ask questions and want to know more, however, i believe he did this in very simplistic ways. He used common day illustrations for example to appeal to the local people.
I have to say, when I was 12, i found Watchtower studies which used big words and long academicaly written phrases to be quite pompous and exasperating. I felt that the bible wasnt for commoners like me to understand. Im not saying that the message should be dumbed down, but I feel if you are going to teach people about the bible then it needs to be done on their level, just like Jesus did. The magazines should be written in a way which explains the basics of truth clearly and effectivly, but encourages the reader to go and do his own research on the deeper matters.
Here are some choice scriptures from 1 Corinthians 2:
1 And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.
3 I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling,
4 and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
5 so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.
6 Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away;
7 but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory;
8 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;
10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.

Serving Jehovah - by Law or by Love?
by TimothyT ini have started reading in search of christian freedom by franz.
the idea of searching for christian freedom is very important to me, and i already know that this book is going to be very helpful in this regard.
on pages 12 and 13, i read something which has been on my mind recently regarding the removal of the mosaic law and its replacement with love through jesus christ.

I hear you Randy! :)
Its a good point that one should not forget that although reading about how to live is good, we should never forget TO live! However, i do believe that this kind of study and the research I am currently doing in solidifying my belief in Jesus and what he has done for humankind etc, is realy enriching my life. :)
Thanks for everything you have done for me Randy. You are #1 here!
