i am writing this in the hopes that it may help someone in a debate.
i personally have not had a chance to discuss it with anyone but that is true for most other topics.
i think is a good one to analyze.

You guys got some belly laughs out of me. As Larry the Cable Guy would say, "That's funny right there, I don't care who ya are!"
i am still attending the kh, i actually recently became aware of the ttatt, what i believed came as a huge surprised for me, i wasn't raised as a jw and have been for about 15 years.
i have always been a very open minded individual all my life always seeing both sides of any situation with logic and common sense and so i believe discovering all of the doctrines i have been taught sense 16 years of age, wasn't extremely hard for me to realize in my heart it was a lie.
well it was me discovering the watchtower society being a ngo member of the un nations for 10 years, after that the snowball just got bigger for me.
so i ran into this brother whom ive known for a while and the conversation led into me being invited to come back to the kingdom hall.
we talked for about an hour during which time i explained to him 607 being the wrong date and a lot of other stuff including the child abuse cases in australia.
but what i wanted to relate was the last few minutes of our conversation.
Some of uou will hate what I say here but it's soley my perspective and opinion.
It is not a matter of "whatever floats your boat".
I DO have a problem with those that want to stay JWs as it's a religion that causes harm, in the same way I detest the Catholics for their inquisition. You may say that's in the past but I beg to differ. Their practice of cruel enforcement destroyed peoples and cultures who to this day suffer the after effects. Cruelty practiced now does not always stop when those practices cease - they often leave scars for generations. And that is my view of the Org. The emotional scars they inflict do not miraculously heal and if you support the Org then in my eyes you are guilty of turning a blind eye to the cruelty and even supporting it. I draw no distinction between the blame shouldered by the GB and its minions. If your're a cog in the meat grinder then you are as blood stained as any part of it.
hi i've been a jw my whole life and i'm 17 now.
i've never had a mine of my own and recently i started thinking more open minded and i know the being a jw isn't for me.
i feel like i've been in a bubble my whole life.

Evidently you have a very good head connected to your neck. You sound mature for your age and obviously have an enquiring mind. These are qualities that will stand you in good stead in your future as a free person!

Everything mentioned above is pretty much spot on. I stopped going to meetings when I was 14 and was never baptized. I simply told my parents I wasnt interested in the religion anymore and I would no longer attend anything remotely related to it. Fundamenlist JW that my mother is, she wasreally upset but I didn't care. Leaving the org did not mean I wanted nothing to do with my parents so I was still respectful, responsible and did everything that was expected of me outside of the Org.
It's of vital importance that you continue to be a good daughter, this way they won't get the impression you want out of the religion in order to be rebellious, but just that you have your resptive disagreements and would rather not be part of it, therefore there is no need to fade - simply quit. But if your parents threaten to throw you out if you leave the religion I recommend you talk to your school guidance councellor. Also get an after school/weekend job so you can start saving money now! That was what I did and it helped tremendously when I left home at 17 yrs old.
Try to build up as big a network possible of friends outside the Org as mentioned before, this is extremely important. If I had not had a lot of friends when I left at a young age I have no doubt I would have found myself in dire straights.
You are at a huge advantage over most on this forum. You will be leaving before your life becomes too entangled and dependent on the Org, not to mention the indoctrination you've undergone is not as ingrained in you as it is for those leaving much later in life, you'll find your transition to living a "worldly" life to be pretty smooth.
Anyway, welcome to the place where we are all working on an anti-Governing Body vaccine! You're amongst an excellent community whom are genuinely compassionate. Any help you need or questions you have, please feel free to ask. We're all eager to help!
in today's wt study it makes the point that just glancing at the opposite sex is flirting and can lead to sex!.
so are jw's now to wear blinkers?.
also jw's are told to go and confess to the elders if they have any immoral thoughts?!!.
I think it all boils down to this:
Sex is a fundamental part of life for those sexually capable. Dictate the terms of this core need and they control the conscience of the "flock". Control the conscience and you have an important part of the mind control recipe in place.

Excellent thread. It has not only provided us with a great topic of discussion, but also ultimately allowed for definitive conclusions to be reached. Thanks!
i just noticed recently that the carts have gone from outside the local station and i have noticed witnesses on the streets going door to door again.
anyone else observed this?
have the r&f decided carts don't work?
