Yeah - I remember that one, It went over went in the congregations. I remember parents afterwards bragging about their level of 'meanness.' In retrospect - what a sick poem.

just checking in to share the details of our local press conference!!
it turned out to be a handfull of us there, including: barbara and joe anderson, tatoomom, and myself.
all in all it went very well.... we didn't even have any dubs show up..... i guess they were on their mcdonald's break at the time!!
Wow - Great News! I think your statement captures the main mission "but we know we did the right thing, for all of the victims who couldn't speak out."
Thanks a Million - Peace - LL
we had a total of 5 people show up, including myself, bruce baker presented the lamb, and left a press packet on the door, with copys of the new york times articles.
i got some pictures and video, and we had a reporter for the seattle times, and komo tv 4 show up, they both talked with us for almost an hour.
it was great to have a couple of people share they're personal experiences about being molested with the reporters.
Great Job - Thanks for the pics.

well, after being frustrated since last saturday trying to get the local newspaper to do an article about silentlambs and the up coming march, hubby got a hold of the local tv station and they have just left after interviewing him and i about our involvement with the silentlambs and speaking up for that issue.
they didnt want to film us in front of the kingdom hall so we had them come to our house and do the filming.
(they filmed us in our office looking at the silentlambs website and then holding the latest wt 10/15/02, with the front cover saying who is behind all evil?
Ain't no stopping us now :)

ok, well we had 7people total to support the silent lambs.
it was me,valis, my roommate, country girl, and 3others from oklahoma.. we had 2 reports show.
one was a talk radio station, and another was from a tv station---no camera though.. the reporter from channel 8 is wanting us to do a documentary type thing.
Music to my ears
I think you guys set the standard. I'm sure this will be a trend and the BORG will send a letter to all congregations, warning them of future activities.
Let me just say that 7 people, including myself showed up at the NY protest site (Bethel) but the press didn't show up
Thanks again Jes and Co. And please keep us informed.

.
i just saw a dub at lunch time, in manhattan, on a busy street, looking like a human magazine rack.. .
my question is, did you ever get embarrased standing in such a public place?
I'll Post this from a previous post of mine -
"Obviously, I loved the company, and everything prior to knocking on doors, but not the actual door to door - I hated it. I was always embarrass going out in service, never wanting anyone at school, or the neighborhood to see me. I recall after I graduated from HS and started going to business school I aux pio in that magical month of April. I got most of my time in street work. Well, one morning as I was engaged in street work, I ran into a classmate at the business school. Embarrassed, I tried to hide the mags behind my back - they were inside those infamous plastic covers. After a few minutes of small talk and said I have to go, and I hurriedly turned and start walking the opposition direction. As I reached for my mags they were gone. When I turned to the spot where I was talking I saw them on the ground, they must have felled out the plastic cover when I put mags behind my back. Needless to say I felt like a jerk.
I recall a brother during a talk said 'going out in Field Service was unnatural, but we do it for the love of Jah :-(
I hated asking for a donation, hated disturbing folks, hated carrying the service bag, I hated working the same territory over again, hated when people threaten and called security on us. And most of all, I hated 'door to door' work in territories where JW's and people of color were obviously not welcomed. If looks could kill, I would have been death a milion times."

Restore - You work midtown or downtown? I'm downtown, next to the bull. We should hook up and engage in some street work

for a few weeks i've had this 'sister' on my mind, although she is deceased.. i've heard through the grapevine that her widowed husband isn't doing so hot, so i thought i'd share some memories...... one of my very first memories of attending kh in my old hometown was of hilda.
hilda was one of the older ones even when i was young.
i'm thinking she was in her late 60's when i first made her acquaintance.
Lisa - Great story telling ability. You remind me of a JW I use to know back in my Cult days, I've never met you but I have an idea of what you are like - All good of course :)
Anyway, your story reminds me of a Dub that introduced my Mom into 'da troof.' She was an old timer from the 50's, and she would literally put her foot on the door when a householder would began closing the door (that reminds me of a post I have to put up.) That was the time when friends could discipline children, she was no exception - She was always on our case, especially when we sit in on one of her bible studies or when she sit with us at the 8 day assemblies @ Yankee Stadium. Of course none of the Elders wanted to deal with her, b/c she had a mind of her own. Old age caught up with her and she was placed in a nursing home. I went to visit her a few times while I was still in the Cult, and it was difficult for me to accept how someone so vibrant was now a child for the second time. One of the many things I learned from her was her polite way of arguing and her manners. She would never say "WHAT" but she always would say "I beg your pardon." Nothing like being polite while ripping into your opponents azz at the same time :)
Back to your post - I agreed wholeheartedly with your point "Stay out of people's marriage, cause you don't know what goes on behind closed doors." Often times when one mate comes to you as a friend and reveals how bad the other mate is, they don't really feel that way towards that mate, they just need a sounding board. However, many times, as a friend, we feel for the mate telling the story and take sides - Major mistake. B/c the couple WILL get back together and talk about how negative you were - now you are the 'bad guy,' when all you were doing is trying to be supportive.
