with the big day approaching i thought of a "valentines day past" i thought i would share.
my ex husband and i were still dating and it was our first valentines day together, and the first i officially celebrated.
and was very important to me.

the preaching work ,fred and the wts 'batting slump'.
in a thread below, fred, in a quite daniellesque manner, sought to detract from ray franz's credibility because ray did not promote the wts' preaching activity.. firstly i have to say that fred is not in the easiest position.
he is a wts apologist of sorts and whereas he might have some support on some other boards like great crowd or wol where his non-sequitors would go quite undetected, he finds it hard going here.

I loved that last post - laughed all the way through it. I've dreamed of having one of those conversations, but I think our house is marked. Although we moved here with no local record, I think someone sent info. here. They work the street, but bypass our house.
When I worked out of town, they used to stop where I was staying. One time I saw them come down the street and I was ready. However, a sweet little old lady came to the door and I just couldn't go after her. Another time a young yuppie type came, and I would have loved to have tangled with him, but he had a seven year old child with him and, again, I just couldn't go for the jugular. Maybe, sometime I'll have my chance.
now we all know for you who have attended meetings at the kingdom hall and heard speakers from the platform give us bible verses and telling us that the ruler of this world is the devil of which i firmly believe due to the fact that this world is completely warped.. .
doesn't it strike you funny to see that satan who makes the rules for his system can't keep them and tries to manipulate rules and regulations always in his favor and that of his seed.. .
#1 example- did you know that according to the bible that satan's agents keep transforming themselves into agents of light.

It may be just an expression to you but it has far more meaning than that to the Society.
if jehovahs witnesses only got started in the 1800's sometime.. then who were all the faithful followers of jesus in his day and until the 1800's?.

That's one of the Watchtower theories that they don't like to talk about. Unless they have changed it, they believe that their has always been some of the 144,000 on earth since Christ's time to the present. That's less than 72 per year. When you consider that Satan didn't get busy until 1914, that's pretty slim pickens for Jehovah.

i am not critical of the decision to df me nor of the loving organization i believe to be in the palm of jesus hand.. i would find it most encouraging to hear from others who feel the same and would like to "hold hands" on the way back.. this board is hailed as a supportive respectful place so if you do not fit this description may i ask you to move on and not hinder the participants here in following their god given right to pursue their goal.

You said you did a lot of reserch and a lot of it is hearsay. Have you read Crises of Conscience by Ray Franz. It appears to be pretty credible to me. Also, have you read Russell and Rutherford's books? If so, I would be interested in your reaction to them.
As far as your posting, have at it. You certainly don't need my permission.

Have you gone to Witness On Line? There might be a much higher percent of "like minded" people" on that discusssiona board. You started the same subject here on Feb. 1, and got most of our ideas, I think.

Your mother probably knew my mother's aunt, Berta Peel. She went to a convention in Europe in the late 1920's with Bonnie Boyd and met Rutherford there, according to my mother. In 1938 Berta went to Bethel and worked as Rutherford's nutritionist. This was about the time that Bonnie Boyd married William Heath (from the Olin Moyle trial transcripts) (OM). Bonnie and William lived full time on the property next to Beth Sarim, called Beth Shan in the early 1940's (OM) Berta's husband divorced her in 1940 for abandonment (divorce records). She spent the winters at Beth Sarim with the rest of Rutherford's entourage, according to my mother. My cousin Jack visited Berta at Beth Sarim, after Rutherford died. She pioneered in the San Diego area until her death in the 1960's. I met Berta a couple of times when she came to visit relatives in Ohio, but she really didn't, in my presence at least, talk about her experiences.
someone told me this was a great non prejudice book by this man raymond...who apparently worked with them and wrote alot of their.
books, but was kicked out for not believing in the way they did.

I don't think you have read the book. Ray Franz is a deeply religious man and never attempted to turn anyone away from God or Christ. To the contrary, he was very encouraging and nurturing to others.

You said that Jehovah used a "slave". Who was the slave from the time of the New Testament writer's death for the next 1800 years until Russell came along? Who was it from the Destruction of Jerusalem, circa 600BC, intil Jesus arrived? Doesn't the modern day "slave" seem to be making lots and lots of mistakes?

I would recommend that you read one book of the Bible at a time in its entirety to get a sense of scriptures in their context, rather than stringing scriptures together from diverse places.
