CO talk at SAD appl. of 2 Thess. 1:8 & other mind control tactics
by Kensho innow that i am really "awake" at the assemblies i pay more attention to what the borg's traveling enforcers say and the talk he gave was some "new light" on 2 thess.
1:8 (probably his opinion).
paraphrased " there is a thinking that has crept in somehow in the minds of some brothers over the years that because jehovah is a merciful &loving god he will not destroy those who have not been reached with the good news in different parts of the world or my family or bible studies need just a little more time, well they need to read this script.. .

No more big District Conventions?
by serenitynow! inso i went to the hall today for a funeral and took a look at the bulletin board.
i was surprised to see a letter stating the dc for michigan would be held at the local assembly hall instead of the big convention center in ohio where it had been held the past few years.
have you all heard about this?.

CA, I was thinking the exact same thing! In our area they renovated the arena and asked JW to come and clean the venue after the work was completed...the district conventions were months away but the free labour would get the WT a discount later on...

No soul survives at death...but I heard in a few funeral talks that the deceased are living in Jehovah's memory...what is the difference for us living here on earth? In both cases their are gone...

Immoral sleeping arrangement?
by hoser ini'm reading through the watchtower rule book right now and i came to the chapter clarification and guidelines on handling certain matters.
there is a part about scriptural divorce and even if adultery is not proved if your ex stayed all night or is involved in an immoral sleeping arrangement you can get scriptural grounds to remarry.. .
they make a rule, then they have to make a rule for the rule, make another rule for the rule for the rule.

Listener, I vaguely recall reading a WT article stating that 2 sisters living together could lead neighbours to believe they are a homosexual couple...so they should make other living arrangements if that was the case...does anyone remember this? That article struck me because my sister has shared an appartment with another JW for decades...

Are you going to heaven?
by compound complex ingreetings:are you convinced (with all due humility, of course) of your future destination according to religious beliefs?
perhaps you'd simply like to journey through outer space, but return eventually to our beautiful planet, earth .

I'm like Punkofnice...having been betrayed by the WT I can no longer believe in things I can't prove...I just live each day to the fullest and I enjoy every second of it. Right now my wife is off to the KHall...I am going to take a walk along the river and watch the thaw-swollen waters rush downstream.

I used to travel with a co-worker who is homosexual...and we share the same Hotel room...according to the elder's book my JW wife could have a just cause to divorce me based on an immoral sleeping arrangement! All she would have to tell the elders is that she's convinced I commited aldutery with another man...WTF

i was deep into it, as a jw.

Welcome braincleaned! It's amazing what research can do! I too was researching material for a public talk and I stumbled onto statistics disproving some of the Watchtower's claims. Like you I had wasted 50 years of my life in a mind-controling cult...I no longer believe in anything that can't be proven and I won't live what is left of my life to please a god or anyone else. At this time my wife has chosen to continue wasting her life in the cult and she is respecting my decision as I respect her's. Braincleaned, I hope you are fully enjoying your freedom to think as I am.

Did reading Jwfacts help you? Please take a moment to say thanks..
by The Quiet One init seems as though so many of the stories of people who are now mentally free that i read on here involved reading jwfacts.com at some point along the way.. he basically saved my sanity (questionable, i know!
), and was never as sensational and garish as other sites which immediately scared me away.
why not take a minute out of your day to say thanks for any difference that jwfacts made to your life, and tell us what it was that helped you?...

When I first started my research on the Watchtower on the internet I found several sites that perfectly fitted the profile that the organization makes of the "typical" apostate...bitter, hateful, disrespectful, deceiving and twisting facts to discredit the "brothers". Some YouTube videos were just rants with no substance other than voicing anger against the Watchower. I also found other sites that used the Watchtower's own publications to show the flaws in their teachings...Shazoloo's, Watchtower Comments and ex-Gilead Missionary videos were eye openers for me. But most of all, JWFacts was instrumental for my awakening...every subject I had doubts about were clearly addressed using sound reasoning. In most cases I was relieved to see I was not the only one seeing things differently than the Watchtower or having doubts that their teachings are bible-based. But most of all I found that the tone used by the many contributors to JWFacts was reassuring, confident and open to debate. These site contributed in opening my mind, allowing me to free myself from the control of the Watchtower, and I am very thankful for that.
