Wait until they review the Yearbook and cover the experience where publishers were saved because a plane crashed on their house while they were in the safety of the Kingdom Hall...imagine if they had stayed home that day instead of going to the meeting! You will hear comments like "Jehovah really protects his people who obey the command in Heb 10: 25-27 or that this should serve as a lesson if we have a habit of missing meetings...Not one JW will understand or dare say that their survival had nothing to do with where they were...but had to do with where they were not...they could have been at work, at the casino, Wallmart or at a brothel...as long as they were not where the plane crashed and they would have survived! By the way...tough luck for the 153 victims that were in the plane. If JWs had lost their life they would say that it was an unforseen event and circumstance befalls us all...

What is the most out of line / disturbing experience you have seen from Circuit Overseers?
by Poindexter Lionel Humperdique ini once heard of a circuit overseer blaming a loyal ministerial servant, that served as the accounts servant, of steeling from the contribution boxes, simply because he deposited the congregation funds bi-weekly instead of twice a week.
due to the accusation, the ms was immediately removed without hearing his side of the story.
isn't this rather counter-intuitive and innefficient?

One CO gave me hell because I had mistakenly sent $0.11 I collected from the Kingdom Hall Fund contribution box to the World Wide Work account... The visit before the previous CO praised the way I took care of the accounts, stating that he had rarely seen books kept so meticulously. I never had an assistant and when I was away one of the elder would ask random brothers to make the collection and half of the time I had to fix errors...poor education leads to poor accounting skills. Soon after the CO's comments I stepped down as a MS to let another clown waste his own time being last to leave the hall and going to the bank every week...
That same CO made two comments that were pivotal to my leaving the cult: Talking about Armageddon not yet arriving, he said: If you wait long enough for something, it will eventually happen, giving the example of a teenager who just can't wait to get his driving permit...as time passes he reaches the age and gets to drive...That's not how it works with Armageddon...if you wait long enough you die after wasting your life waiting.
His second comment was that if something is repeated enough times, people will accept it as the truth even if it is untrue...At that point I asked myself: where have I heard the same thing repeated over and over again for decades? Isn't it here at the Kingdom Hall? No wonder I accept all they teach as the absolute truth!

This initiative provides a (false) sense of security and the feeling that the WTS cares for the sheeps, reinforcing their control over them. It also reminds their members that the end could happen at any time now and that they need to be ready for the disaster that will preceed Armageddon. Some type of reminders have to be used now that the threat of persecution and emprisonment is no longer at the forefront of their scare tactics.

Brought in the cult at 5 years old, was a MS but never an elder...gave public talks and conducted a book study until this meeting was cancelled...stepped down 3 years ago and stopped going to the meetings after DC in 2010. I lurked on this site for at least a year before becoming a member and posting.

Received an email about this including which elder I should contact to let them know where we are. I haven't been to a meeting for well over 2 years and this elder is the last person I would ever ask help from...he is clueless and his only qualification is to be a company man. Even my JW wife agrees with me. By the way I deleted the email before my wife had a chance to see it. In the case of a disaster we will seek help from the trained civil authorities.

Why did you pick the name you have now
by label licker injust wondering if your name describes what you saw, how you were treated when you were "in" or now "out", maybe your personality, ect.... i'm label licker and the why i picked this name was because of all the licking up one side of elders and down the other to either be an elder or ministerial servant.
one time i was standing right in front of this brother who wasn't made an ms yet and he totally ignored me and talked right over my head speaking really loud trying to catch the co's attention.. got sick of watching the poor elderly sitting all alone or standing against the wall like a wall flower with noone to talk to and yet all these label lickers would take turns picking up the elders elderly parents and take them shopping and do their groceries at least four times a week while out in service, yet, there was noone there to take a meal to a sister who just got out of the hospital with a heart attack.
when i had shown up at her apartment with a meal she asked if i could wash her private and change her bandages.

Should i go?
by MsGrowingGirl20 inso, a good friend of mine, a pentecostal christian, invited me to go to a retreat with her church.
we're the same age-19 years.
we were friends before i became a witness and she was always patient and caring with me especially throughout my arrogant spell as a witness.

Attending another church (or organisation linked to another church) is considered as apostasy which is a disfellowshipping offence - and you would simply submit yourself to a different flavour of brainwashing...

Love Thy Neighbor? Not my JW neighbors.
by jws ini live next to jw neighbors.
i was a jw 1000 miles away over 20 years ago, never here.
as far as i know, nobody here knows i once was, including the neighbors.. so there wouldn't be any reason for them to shun me.

I use to do the snow removal at the Kingdom Hall which includes the sidewalk. On one side of the hall there is a home occupying the street corner lot and on the other side there is a church. Since we had a tractor with a snow blower I would clear the sidewalk along the home all the way to the street corner, so the neighbors didn't have to do it by hand. Then I would run the blower past the church to their driveway where I could easily turn around and drive back to the hall. I guess my replacement doesn't believe in being a good neighbor and he stops clearing the snow right on the property line on the side of the church while going all the way to the street corner on the opposite side...School kids use that sidewalk to get to school...that should be a good enough reason to extend the snow clearing past the church...Jehovah will not strike you to death for doing it...I'm the living proof!

my elderly JW dad--continued
by bigmac insome readers may recall a thread about my old dad coming to live with me.. after a short time he had to be hospitalised--and now he is in a care home.
ive taken over all his financial affairs--including selling his house.. ive been clearing out the house--and--needless to say--came across tons of wt books--years of old magazines--1000's of them--plus bound volumes going back to the year dot.
i asked him what he wanted me to do with them--and he said dispose of them!.

I dumped my whole library in the dumpster...selling them on e-bay wasn't an option...50 years of peddling these worthless books was enough for me. In the wrong hands these books could turn a pefectly normal person into a brainwashed JW!
