What emotions have you been coping with?

i wanted to dedicate this posts to just talking about the emotional scars we all have had or maybe still have.

was there a gap of time between you thinking you didn't want to continue and actually, consciously, deciding to no longer continue as on of jws?

it's amazing to me the strong hold this religion puts on you.

Then I was waiting for a lightning bolt to strike me...Didn't happen, though.

Reading Crisis of Conscience helped me get a healthier perspective on the workings of the organization.

Glad I had a good therapist who knew about how cults operate.

if parents dont want their children killed they had better get their kids to spend 6 hours a day selling the watchtowers children book or else.

Feared Mexican drug lord was an ex-JW

the mexican drug war has left more than 30,000 dead since december 2006, courtesy of drug cartels fighting between themselves and against the security forces to gain control of the lucrative smuggling routes to the usa.

one of the most ruthless cartel is known as "la familia", a quasi-religious drug gang led by nazario moreno gonzalez (aka: el chayo); he was killed in a shootout with the federal police about 3 weeks ago.

he preached his organization's "divine right" to torture and kill their rivals (decapitation or disolved in acid is quite common).. as it turns out, nazario moreno gonsalez was an ex-jw who used his recruiting skills to adoctrinatepeople into working as gunmen and vested them with the "divine justice" to kill cartel rivals.

One can learn all kinds of skills from being a JW. I heard that myself right from the platform. Maybe not the kind of skills one would want to put on a resume, but skills none-the-less!

Types 73 words a minute
Ability to work independently (street-corner).
Task-oriented (service in the rain, shine, or snow storms)
Fund-raising skills
Ability to use a semi-automatic weapon...

Blondie's article provides proof that freedom which religions lobby for has gotten waaaaay out of hand. You can do just about anything "in the name of religion" or "in the name of God" and get away with it.

How about protecting a child from becoming a victim of their parental conditioning or propagandizing? Now, that would make some sense to me.

Things we never told the public.....

i thought it would be interesting to discuss the things we believed as jw's, but were kind of embarassed about and didn't tell the public about, since it would make us look ridiculous.......... one thing i can think of is the idea that only jw's will make it through armageddon.

everyone else would be destroyed.

i would never tell anyone that even though we all believed it.

No Tape Recorders at Elder Schools? WTS Hanging Elders Out to Dry

elders are not allowed to bring tape recorders to elder school or elders-only type meetings.

elders can only take hand notes, usually inside the wide margins inside the elder's book.

i think the watch tower society is hanging the elders out to dry.. 1) being an elder is an important job, let's face it.

5) The elders do not carry liability insurance. If the elders do something "independent" of the Watch Tower Society, the elder is sued.

Skeeter, are you saying the Society can't get sued, or are you saying the society will sue the elder if the elder does something "independent"...?

Or are you saying the society can't get sued, only the elder can get sued...?

Perhaps no one will step up to be an elder any more... if one is smart!

we moved a couple of days ago to a totally new area.

the cat we had seemed to be getting used to the new place, though she was hiding alot.

she would burrow herself under the sofa cushions or under our blankets.

the Catholic episcopate in Mexico is warning the public on the growing danger of dealing with a Christian fundamentalist organization...

Hmmm...I wonder if the Jehovah's Witnesses could be labeled as a Christian fundamentalist organization... They have some extreme views, attitudes and teachings.
