The Way Things are, Not How You'd Like Them To Be
by AllTimeJeff inat 37 years of age, i'm much to young for feeling this damn old, so apologies for sounding less than idealistic, but...... we need people who will be honest and true to themselves.
having offered jws the entire decade of my 20's while they tried to suck out my soul, i have come to appreciate how little of a desire these days i have to change the world.
which was sad at first.

What to tell your kids
by TheListener inwhat did you tell your children about why you don't go to meetings anymore or aren't a witness?
especially if you have a witness spouse..

What a great learning experience for your children. You are going to teach them that it is ok to leave an organization or a belief that you discover is wrong. You are also teaching them that it's ok to admit you were wrong. This is a good t hing for them. Don't worry...kids are adaptable and they will be better off after its all out in the open.

Yes, I am hoping they collapsed from within, but it is nice to see them get a little help from the outside. I still have a grown daughter and a 4 year old grandson who are still in and would like to see Watchtoers downfall sooner rather than later.

I left the Witnesses over 10 years ago, but finally went back
by JakeMarley inthe entire time i was gone it was nagging at me.
i hadn't been previously baptized, so leaving wasn't that big a deal.
now i'm back in the swing of it, going to all meetings and field service.

Jake, I was raised a jw, am 58 years old, was an elders wife, pioneered, lived my whole life according to how they told me. Like most others here on this forum, we all have come to believe it was all in vain. We might as well have been in any other religion. Jehovah's Witnesses don't have the truth. Don't be lazy. Do your research as others suggested. You are no safer inside the org than out. It is an illusion and eventually illusion has to meet up with reality.
Much love to you. Hope you consider this carefully.

Who On This Site Would You Like To Meet?
by minimus inthere are a lot of interesting people that frequent this site.. sometimes, we get an idea of what the posters are really like in "real life".
and i'm sure i could be easily surprised by some that you think might be strong personalities because of their board presence, and in reality, they might be shy in a face to face setting.. i would enjoy meeting simon.
simon used to be terribly annoyed by my posting and now i think he's accepted with tolerance my being here.. farkel seems like a grouchy cantankerous fellow but i think he'd be very interesting company!.

I would like to meet Blondie and Mary. Really all the regulars I would love to meet, including Billy the Bethelite and those already mentioned.

Very cute, I have one that shows a Kingdom Hall with a do not solicite sign on the front lawn.
Another one shows Maxine and she is saying "I finally got an invitation and it was from Jehovah's Wittnesses."

JW couple beats daughter to death
by saltiest ini just read this article in the chicago sun times.
when i started reading the parents were religious and then saw home-schooling, i had a gut feeling they were jw's.
i read on and found out i was right.

whathappened
This story was bumped because someone on another thread is writing a letter to the authorities about JW abusing children and she needed true documented stories.
I personally witnessed my uncle, who was an elder, beat all three of his children. He would pick up his little blonde blue eyed daughter and throw her against the wall when he was finished beating her.
How did they turn out? They are all messed up emotionally. One boy is a child molester, the other boy enjoys watching other men have sex with his wife, and the daughter is divorced from an elder and is pretty whackie herself. She is the only one still a JW.

"Waiting on Jehovah" the slum landlord
by Terry inhow many faithful true believer jw's are "waiting on jehovah" to straighten out their religion?.
i know of many.. most of these impatient people are pissed off and squirming.. they have usually been inside the kingdom hall for many, many years and have seen the many stumbles and changes.. and, frankly, they are sick and tired of being sick and tired.. .
"wait on jehovah" has been the only counsel offered to stave off outright rebellions.. .

Terry, good post. I totally love this one. I recently thought of the scripture where Jesss talks about a father. He said if his son asked for a piece of bread he would not hand him a stone would he? Jehovah's children are asking for answers. He has not given them anything. He must be a bad father.
