  Choices have Consequences

  my wife and kids are inactive/trying to fade - see my previous posts for our story - last meeting for me was over 5 years ago.. in laws and parents active - fil and dad are elders, fil and mil are pioneers, mom just follows dad's lead.. anyway, my wonderful son is finishing up college and is engaged to be married later in 2011 to a beautiful young woman who we all love dearly and have welcomed to our family.

  ceremony to be held in a public space - no denominational identity.

  when engagement announced, my wife and i's parents reacted positively and assured their attendance.. however, phone calls a few days after the elders school over xmas advised us that they would not be attending since our son - although inactive - is baptized and his fiancee is not a jw.

  Aggie, do you know it took me 6 years of being df'd to realize that? And I didn't even think of it, someone said it to me. That was only back in April. But no, they won't ever get it. They believe they're right, they're doing what God requires. How do you get around that? I have no idea yet.

  I can't shun my family though. They have to do it, I don't. No one can tell me who to love or how to show that love, I'm in control of that. And if showing that to them makes them uncomfortable or guilty, so be it. Maybe one day they'll realize what they're doing. That's my hope.

  Important letter to be read after jan 16 watchtower study

  during the announcements at our service meeting last night, they "encouraged" everyone to attend the jan 16 watchtower study as they would be reading a "very important letter" afterwards.

  i havent seen anything pertaining to that on the site here.

  does anyone have any more information about this, or is this maybe just a local thing?.

  Some observations from the KM Elder School I wanted to share with you.

  my school was a couple weeks back, and it was interesting to a degree.

  to be honest with you, it reminded me of a police crime scene investigation with yellow tape.

  what i mean is, in one respect it was business as usual.

  Reading stuff like this gives me hope but scares me too. If the grip is tightening, either my family still in will wake up or they'll follow to their own demise.

  The ones at the top really are hypocritical bastards.

  Contribution Boxes At The Book Groups , Did You Donate More There Than The Hall ?

  this may have been covered a few years back but the thought came to me just how much money the wathtower lost in contributions when they got rid of the book study groups in witnesess homes.

  my book group was at my parents house and as it was always full, over 30 drones every tuesday night.

  this caused mayhem in the road outside with all the cars double parking etc... the jw's at my group always put loads of wonga into the tin on the welsh dresser!

  Is this Loaded Language in the 2011 Calendar?

  i think it could be fair to say, that if paul spoke for jesus, then "revealed truth" could be a valid description since the scriptures say he visited them several times, but i think the loaded language comes in when you try to apply this to modern times, (wts a modern paul?).

  i see this as trying to mold the first century to fit the current wts/jws.

  what do you think?.

  Glad you found a compromise. There is nothing in JW world that even comes close to Christmas. This year was the first my daughter was excited about it, and we had soo much fun! (She's 3) And it snowed Christmas Day!

  the wbt$ is always doing something stupid..from the begining of the wbt$ to this very day... stupid is on the menu,in watchtower world... .

  it never ends..there is always something stupid happening within the wbt$... these are bethel one liners..bethelites have posted on jwd/jwn... that i have collected over time... .

  I never saw it in a publication. My grandma was just crazy. She had a machine that you put a polariod of yourself in it and it'll tell you what's wrong with you, what vitamins you need, etc. And the polaroid had to have your thumbprint on it as well. No idea what the science was behind that, lol!
