every once in a while there's a story so well told that it deserves lots and lots of kudos and plugs.
here's that 124-book length story which is the first one linked from "exclusive autobiographies" on the home page of www.watchtowerdocuments.com.
read it free!.

many outsiders see good in the w.t.
and many insiders see good in the w.t.. so is not the w:t like any other organisation based on idealisam and growth.
acolytes.
I'm comparing other religions in modern times not Nazi's etc.

They are the worst because they have made and continue to make medical decisions for it's members. Since 1945 it is believed that they have encouraged the death of some 200,000 people or 3600 people a year world wide who refused to take blood. If that number is not correct then let's drop it down to a thousand people a year. Jim Jones killed 900 plus people at Jonestown. The JW's accomplish that year in and year out.
by opening this post, you are admitting that you are failures - well done!
lol.
i must say, i have had so much fun on this site - some real laugh out loud moments for my friends and i to enjoy.. no need to respond - i am busy pioneering from tomorrow, so will no longer have time on my hands to sit at my pc enjoying laughing at your pathetic comments.
Your out in service. For a pioneer like you it will once again be a day of small humiliations.
Even though it's a cold day your sweating and your pamphlets are getting soggy in your pocket and the watchtower in your hand has smudge marks on it. You trudge up to the door with your head down. Your disgusted with yourself for pioneering for not being able to get yourself out of that religion. You lack clarity and purpose....life is hard for you and getting harder as the years pass.
The door is opening.........you start to panic. You have nothing to say. You really don't like talking to people about the 'truth' you sense that they find you........unacceptable. You extend the damp pamphlet, your hand shakes a little. The householder looks past you, ignores the pamphlet and slowly closes the door.
You depart quietly. The only bright spot in your day is to get back home and savor the responses to your post ........until you get to this one.
i really love a good western.
the remake of true grit by the coen brothers (fargo, o' brother where art thou?, etc.
) was a pleasant surprise.
'Winter's Bone' is a very good movie (DVD). The actress is Acadmy nominated. Very grity, it's not a western but it feels like one.

A Melissa Leo movie from a few years back 'Frozen River' is also very good (DVD): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5pPQdLN4mg
Rented 'Nowwhere Boy' last night (DVD). The young John Lennon pre Beatles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfU70TFWM3Y
well thanks to this site i have come to realize i am being shunned........i think.
i find this really funny because my wife and i were never df or da, and we walked out in the late 1960's.
and no one in the family ever shunned us.. without making too much out of it my niece has not invited us to visit and meet our new nephew.
"I just recently noticed that no one has been talking to me" That's a LOL NewChapter. Aren't they.....precious?
I have this needy cousin (witness) who over the years would call regularly sometimes for advice once for a loan to buy meds for her mother. She stayed in contact for forty years. She'd call because I'd forget to. So this last time I had a note taped to my phone to give her a call first.....show some respect. So after two minutes of fidgety conversation she's got to go. Nothing since. Not a problem for me but who knows what it's done to her head?
The Finger: good for your brother to survive that, get reinstated and not attend the meeting. Shame on those elders......... they are lower case elders.
I think JW's are at a point in their history where many aren't sure what to think about shunning, blood, armageddon etc. When the society flip flops like they do you create a level of confusion where people go overboard in trying to keep themselves 'spiritually pure' to the point of denying themselves fractions or reasonable family conversation with shunned ones. It's a form of self destructive madness.

Without making too much out of it My niece has not invited us to visit and meet our new nephew. My ex brother in law has made himself unavailable for lunch dates. And returns my emails with one sentence replies (it's usually about simple family matters). Since no one seemed to care I told my wife that it felt strange that the only family I have left has closed their door to me, must have been one too many witness arguments in the past I said.
So about six months ago My son and his wife and our 8 month old granddaughter decided to throw a house warming party (they had moved into the area). He invited his cousin and Uncle etc. and I figured they would decline.
I was shocked and pleased when they walked into my son's house. I was even more shocked to see how pleased they were to be there. The hugs my wife and I got were real as was the affection. I puzzled over the experience untill I found this site. My take is that something changed a couple of years ago and they had to withdraw. My non witnesses son (that's his inheritance) gave them the cover to meet with us again.
Anybody experience a sudden shift after years of reasonable family contact?
a lot of talk has centered around information dispensed at the recent km schools.
many brothers feel there is a "tightening up" taking place.
i had a recent experience that you may find interesting.. after the meeting i was working with our cobe on some congregation tasks when out of nowhere he said, "have you looked up any extra information about higher education since the km school?
Finger, yes there was a condition attached when you dedicated your life to god. That condition was that the JW'S was the one true religion, that Armageddon was eminent and you needed to concentrate on the preaching work instead of getting a higher education and a fancy job. The condition was if you were a proper witness in all things you had a good shot at escaping the total destruction of mankind. Now the conditions have changed. Most apostates on this forum were loyal clean living witnesses. They had kept up their end of the bargain. And it was a bargain through one's service and worship for everlasting life. Does any JW believe that god has nothing for them, no reward for all the toil they go through?
The WTBTS broke the deal in any number of ways and when they did we no longer had to honor that original contract........dedicating yourself to god through that organization was nullified.
If you really want to love and worship god then you could easily pick one of many religions that respects your needs and your families. Your contract with a different religion will not bind you for life nor prevent you from living a decent life. Your association with a different religion will allow you to have a different level of commitment to a god you eventually still care about. And best of all it probably will not be reward driven.

palin explain recent world history..
I quit! that was a LOL!!!!!!
Miss Sarah along with Guiliani and Huckabee are in the book selling and speech making business period. It's all about pretend........as long as the Tea party faithfuls and Repubs think they MAY run they have a product to sell.......... It's called bait and switch.
But among the three of them Sarah is slipping the most.
