  Have You Isolated Yourself Because of the Virus 🦠?

  some people i know have not gone out of their houses in weeks.

  some will walk near their homes and run right back in.

  meanwhile, i go food shopping and i see tons of people, many with masks and gloves on..

  Yeah, everyone wears gloves while shopping. And I have seen several behaviors that bother me:

  1. People reuse the gloves. What good does this do? Let’s say your gloves prevent something from getting on your hands. Great. But you take them off in the car and set them down... then pick them back up and fuss with them. I mean, if you’ve ever seen nurses in a hospital, they will get a new pair of gloves for every room. They leave the room, they discard the gloves. Enter a room, get another pair. I know why people reuse - lack of supply. But it isn’t helping much.
  2. People with gloves discard the gloves in the parking lot. Not sure if this has happened in your area. But here, there have been runs on the store, and the glove hoarders use the gloves in the store, and throw them away on the ground as they get in their car. Pure assholery.
  3. People use gloves... but still touch their face. *sigh*

  Coronavirus Positive

  hey all,.

  i'm day six of isolation, confirmed to have coronavirus.

  i have been seeing very sick cv positive patients over the last month in my a&e role (emergency physician) it was inevitable i would contract it.. just wanted to give some symptom and treatment advice, it's anecdotal but may help.. started as sore throat and headache, then croaky voice, then dry cough, then episodic transient fevers, all this over the first few days.

  Will Governor Cuomo be the Next President?

  trying to put politics aside (even though that won't really work), but ny governor andrew cuomo is blowing the other politicians out out the water (orange man [trump] and the lizard [biden]).. i don't know if cuomo has a usb port in the back of his head plugged into a hard drive but the guy speaks, analyzes and talks coherently.

  the orange man always passes difficult questions to someone else.

  the lizard can't comprehend what the question is but tries to answer something.. cuomo comes out with facts, analysis and direction on what needs to be done.

  Cuomo said that all authoritarian effort is worth it, even if it saves one life. If we are successful in preventing just one death, no amount of economic hardship is too much. Don’t even discuss the net effects.

  He also cheered on the latest NY abortion bill that allows termination of a pregnancy until birth.

  Again, there is a sense of justification in what he is doing. But I don’t buy his motivation. If you think Cuomo actually cares about anyone, you are a fool. He is a leftist. That means he a bubbling stew of incompatible ideologies and logical contradictions - an opportunist with an addiction to power.

  My worry is that all of the temporary controls will be “temporary”.

  Seems to make sense to me. As a lefty, imposing some sort of martial law and/or initiating tight controls on the lives of everyone else, is second nature. Note: I’m not making a comment on whether this situation requires such controls. Perhaps it does. All I’m saying is that if you want a Ponzi scheme done correctly, you look to Madoff, not a CPA. If you want a brick wall, hire a mason, not a cobbler. All the lefties that love the centralization have a huge tent in their pants. Finally, a lefty gets to flex some lefty muscle. They’ve had lefty blue balls for too long, and now at long last, some action. Again, this might be called for at this time. And, yes, I think eventually this authority has to be put back in a tightly locked box. But until then, many-a-lefty will marvel at a true craftsman.

  luckily for me, i'm not interested in marvel at all - i never read the comics as a kid; i haven't seen any of the films as an adult.. but, i still think some of their new characters are worth mentioning.. here are two: snowflake and safe space.

  no, i'm not kidding.. here's a little vid by a youtuber called just some guy.

  he's a keen comic reader and loves that kinda stuff … but not the latest characters.. he's spliced clips of ricky gervais laughing his ass off with an interview with marvel writer and balding, bespectacled beta male, daniel kibblesmith.. enjoy!.

  So Trailblazer is an overweight foster/group home teen, and she inherited a magic backpack of divine origin.... from her grandfather.... Good lord. Is it the magic backpack that allows her to run?

  And Screentime was exposed to internet gas... and this is, as the guy says, the logical conclusion.

  all of the stores around my area ran completely out of toilet paper this last weekend.

  people were piling it into their carts and vehicles as if they were going to be holed up for a year.

  Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread

  this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

  latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

  the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

  Update on buying patterns:

  Some more curious purchasing activity has occurred. What is your opinion?

  The main grocery store in my area had its meat section cleaned out today.... except for ham. Spiral ham, glazed ham, bacon, etc... small ham, large ham. Just about every part of a pig you might want was there in abundance.

  I don’t normally buy my meat at this store. The price is too high and the quantity is too low. The bulk stores do much better at it. I was curious because last Thursday I was doing my normal shopping and the meat was kinda gone, but not really bad. So I drove over to check it out. Aaaannnnd, there’s meat! Lots of beef and chicken.... but.... no..... ham.

  So, why are the people who buy in bulk cleaning out the ham, while the people who buy at the normal overpriced grocery buying everything except the ham?

  All these strange patterns...
