  My bearded sparring partner asked them if they felt oppressed, or if they were encouraged to study whatever they want at school.

  They both said "no" - i.e. they felt discouraged.

  I felt this should have been explored a bit more..

  The language was general and leading, I think. Were they asked what they wanted to study? Could they list it? Why can’t they pursue this course? Are they being prevented in some way? Do boys need the same “encouragement”?

  I’m not sure if the video above featuring Christina Hoff Sommers is the one I’m thinking of, but there is one out there of her speaking at a university. Some feminist in the audience laments the lack of women in STEM. And she asks the obvious question to the female student: what are you studying? She listed something, can’t remember exactly, but it was far away from STEM. When asked why she didn’t enroll in a STEM field, she responded that she wasn’t interested. You could feel the collective face palm...

  Define “they”. If you mean the WTB&TS, I would imagine you would hear an announcement from the platform that the WTB&TS is no longer accepting donations. But if a loyal and generous JW wishes to donate, then there happens to be this other legal entity (say, “The World Wide Work Fund) that just happens to be five legal steps removed from the WT. Donate to that... and somehow everything keeps running.

  You have to hand it to the right though, whenever they go nuts they do it right, they slaughter the hell out of people. Bombs, mass shootings, I mean the really KILL the living daylights out of people. The left, such pussies.

  Again, this is where the “left”/“right” spectrum fails us. And now, the subtle labeling trick the left has been successful in - mainly placing Nazis on “the right” - becomes obvious. Again, the left / right spectrum is as follows: left stands for government control, centralization, no natural rights. The right stands for more inviduality, individual rights, decentralization, etc.

  This is the only way to keep the one dimensional left/right spectrum logically consistent.

  That said, every violent regime has been on the left. When the world generates mass killings and atrocities, it’s the left - each and every time. Why? Because they don’t believe in individual rights. The KKK, Nazis, they are all flavors of authoritarianism. ALL on the left.

  I hate to keep beating this drum... but this is exactly where the left-wing/right-wing continuum fails us. “Right-wing” extremists are just a different type of authoritarian collectivist. They are in no way, shape, or form like the libertarian or conservative “right-wingers”. These violent “right-wingers” are, ideologically, on the left (if we want a consistent continuum).

  Also, it’s not a “caravan”, it’s an invasion.

  What will JJ Abrams and Disney do for Star Wars episode IX?

  i heard that jj abrams has finished the screenplay and they'll be starting to shoot the final episode soon.. so where will the story go?.

  han solo is dead, snoke is dead, leia can only have a very limited role at best because carrie fisher unfortunately died .... plus, rey has already defeated the main villain once before, in her first lightsaber fight (in the force awakens, because 'ovaries!

  ', i guess xd).. and she saved his ass against snoke's elite guards (in the last jedi) - so it will be difficult to film any kind of dramatic tension between rey and kylo ren.. i won't be seeing this film in the cinema or buying it on dvd but i am kinda curious how things will pan out .... what do you think?.

  I liked Rouge One. A strong female character, imperfections and all. No Mary Sue.

  And more importantly, R1 filled in plot hole gaps. It did not contradict the original stories! It didn’t invalidate the entire universe with light speed ramming.

  They really forked it up, Disney did. They had it... had it in the palm of their hands, and lost it. It wouldn’t have taken much to please fans. Heck, it would have been fine to kill off the last trilogy’s main characters, even Luke! But just do it in a way that adds to the universe.

  For example, instead of starting TFA with some new mysterious Empire that has no connection with the previous plot, start off the movie with a post Empire episode. Luke has his temple, he’s teaching and learning that the Jedi and Sith both have it wrong. Have him come to realization that pure good can be just as evil. Develop Kilo from that perspective. Allow the audience to observe the fall of Kilo to the dark side, unable to find the balance. Let us see Luke use the dark side in some instances, orange eyes and all, and then pull back into the light. Forget Snoke... let the new evil be Kilo only. Not some emo teen Kilo. A true evil developed for the audience, right in front of the audience.

  Get Luke to take down an entire star destroyer with the force, pulling it out of the sky. And let Kilo defeat him honestly as his evil spreads.

  Then let Rey work for it.

  This would have added to the universe and taken the fans into decades of books, spin offs, etc.

  They forked it up.
