Conventions
by free2beme inas the conventions are in full swing, and my relatives who are still in make a point to tell me what their vacation will include.
i am reminded of a couple of things about conventions i do not normally think about.. one, the people who would protest the conventions.
some with bags on their head, others just holding signs.

I remember sometimes seeing protesters outside the gates at Vet Stadium in Philly. I had no inclination to listen to them at all. They would put flyers on the cars windsheilds in the parking lot. I remember one time going around, removing them and tearing them up, throwing them out.
I think the protesters made a bad impression which caused witnesses NOT to listen to them.
Apognophos- I'm interested in seeing that new book.
I wonder if my jw brother and sister in law are bothered in anyway that armageddon still has not come and the "short while" has been 100 years now. Of course, if they had doubts they would never tell me.

Apognophos-
you bring up good points.
I'd like to add that this new gb wants to be in a more secluded area. Previously, the wts wanted the public to see all the bldgs. and their signs and millions did regularly. The witnesses had a huge presence in Brooklyn, at one time owning 42 properties! They wanted everything open to the public.
gb 2,.0 wants secrecy. As Billy brought out, except for those living in the Warwick area, nobody will even know they are there in their private, hidden headquarters by the lake in the woods! People will drive by on the highway and won't be able to see the bldgs, won't know it is there.
But that is what this gb wants-secrecy and privicy, in a nice, secluded, peaceful compound, away from the worldy people and noise of the city.
DJS- I agree, this gb are paranoid and afraid. Won't Jehovah protect them? I guess they don't believe he will.
And of course, the money-bringing in over 1 billion dollars selling the Brooklyn buildings and spending only around $12.5 million to build the new, more comfortable, smaller headquarters.

Welcome!
I listened to the whole video, unfortunatly I could not hear the elders comment on porn because those sisters were too loud!
Their repeated mention of the gb shows me how much this religion has changed in the nearly 9 years since I gave up going to meetings.
This new gb are worshipped, and that is what they want.
I never minded handing in my fs report, but your recording shows the org demands you follow its rules even when it goes beyond what the bible says.

I used to think that 7 million JWs was a large number
by dogon inthen i saw a stat that made me think differently.
there are 7 million practicing voodoo religion world wide.
about the same as jws, and the big thing is that they do not at all go out and try to convert people at all, not one pamphlet not one tract no door to door calls, phone calls nothing nada.

There are just under 8 million witnesses but no doubt there will be a new peak in August.
There were 2 million when I began studying, I wondered if it would ever reach 3 million!

I am not Disfellowshipped or dissasociated. I just stopped going to any meetings in 2005 and gave my last fs report in 2006.
I never mentioned to anyone I disagreed with any teachings.
Still, in the nearly 9 years I have been gone, nobody from my congregation has called me or come by to see how I am.
My jw brother stopped ansering my letters years ago and does not return my phone calls because I refuse to go back to meetings.

What prophecys made you belive the Bible?
by venting ini now believe the bible is a book of history and myths.
the org and others still point to certain prophecys that lead them to believe, that god must have been involved.
how can we explain some of these?

I have had the same experience as you in finding out that the Jewish understanding of what Christians call messianic prophecies about Jesus do NOT apply to Jesus at all. When you consider the Hebrew Scriptures without the Christian Scriptures you see what the true understanding of those prophecies, like Isaiah 53 REALLY mean. The Christian Scriptures were created and construed to try to give the impression that Jesus fulfilled Messianic prophecies when in fact he didn't.
No wonder my relatives never accepted Jesus!
I believed in the prophecies about the destruction of Tyre and Babylon in Isaiah and Daniel (?).
And the prophecies about the last days seem to fit and be fulfilled in our day.

The new book is not a replacement for the "Jehovah's Will" book which is not released to the public,.
Saved-JW- Thanks for scanning the new book when you can!
Hopefully the Proclaimers book, Family book and great teacher book will remain in print.

Gods kingdom rules could have some interesting parts, especially the chapter on printing.

Your final WTF? Moment!
by restrangled init was a long time coming for me.....when i read about the extened generations, after being raised on1914 being the be all end all, and millions would never die....that was the end.
i was part of the 1975 fiasco, the 6 month only truth book studies, suffered through a disifellowshipping and their version of a rewind.
i finally am free and hope others can eventually look in instead of inside looking out!

It was a number of things over time actually, but discovering the ngo/un thing was probably the most shocking.
