  i believe when we were in the jw cult, our brains and thoughts were hijacked by the governing body.

  i truly believe the gb thinks all members are stupid and they laugh at them in their wednesday morning secret meetings.. one such teaching that i never heard anyone bring out or question yet the absurdity and contradiction is blatantly obvious is: revelation chapter 20 says that christ will reign for 1000 years.

  it doesn't say he will reign more than a thousand yrs but only 1000 yrs.

  Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 that all authority in heaven and on earth had already been given to him. So how much more authority did he receive in 1914?

  'Experiences(tm)'! Made up or totally true??

  at one assembly(tm), i was asked to relate an 'experience(tm)' which i did.

  however, during rehearsals, the geezer in charge elder or co or some such title, told me that i shouldn't tell it the way it was.

  i did a 're-enactment(tm)' with another 'brother(tm)'.

  This reminds me of the stories in the mags where some brother swam crocodile-infested waters to bring the truth to a remote village somewhere. While there, he was severely beaten and yet managed to swim back in time for the next meeting.

  Talk about a guilt trip for everyone who didn't want to get up early Saturday and spend the morning out in service!

  They used to say (maybe still do) that Jesus returned invisibly "in that he turned his attention to the affairs of earth."

  I remember thinking, "Where was his attention for the past 2000 years? Jupiter?"

  I'm thinking about things like:

  1. Constant repetition

  2. Parroting back answers in Watchtower studies

  3. Use of "evidently," "obviously," or "reasonably" in the literature as a substitute for evidence.

  4. Use of loaded phrases such as "All Bible believing Christians know that..." or "If we are genuine lovers of Jehovah and his word, we will..."

  5. Constant diatribes against other religions and "the world"
  

  6. The use of punishment and rewards as motivators to keep JWs in line.

  Heart warming words from my 13 year old granddaughter during our Thanksgiving dinner

  we had our first family thanksgiving gathering this last thursday with our youngest sons family.

  before we started to eat we went around the table saying what we were thankful for.

  what our granddaughter had to say brought tears to our eyes.

  back in the 1960s there was, seemingly, a brief period of relaxation in authoritarianism among jehovah's witnesses.

  those who have read raymond franz's 'crisis of conscience' will have heard the story about dan sydlik's remark about the need to 'open some windows to let some air in here'.

  The problem the WT has is that -- because of the internet -- if they ever announce a new date, people will be altered to pin JWs down to it and to ask them what they'll do when it comes to nothing.

  When that time comes, we need to be ready with a coordinated effort to make sure the GB doesn't wriggle off the hook with JWs like they have so many times before.

  It will be a great time in which to document for JWs all of the WT's earlier false prophecies, waffling, and "new light."
