Selling KH to another religion
by blondie ini found this question box in the july 1969 km.
question box (july 1969, p. 4).
• is it all right to buy a church building for use as a kingdom hall or, when a new kingdom hall is built, to sell the former hall for use as a church?
-
Ding
This from an organization which teaches that if you do something as innocuous as lighting candles and putting them on a birthday cake you are engaging in false worship because of what such activities meant to pagans in ancient times (Reasoning book, p. 69).
But selling a building you built and dedicated to worship and service of Jehovah for use in worship by a religious organization you condemn as pagan and satanic? Not a problem!
"There does not appear to be any direct Scriptural objection to doing so. It is not a matter of cooperating in a religious way with representatives of false religion, but is simply a business transaction. It is a one-time real estate deal."
Kind of like the Watchtower becoming a UN NGO so they can get a library card, I guess.
What's the big deal?

simple illustration by a carpenter
by waton inthis week's study ( no.
88) on the illustration of abraham and the begging lazarus and the rich man, all dying, in heaven and hell fire.
the bible stories, convoluted as they are, even more pretzelled by wt.

The WT interpretation of the rich man and Lazarus account is ludicrous.
It's not even internally consistent.
For example, "death" means a reversal of circumstances in this life... until the very end, where coming back from the dead means... coming back from the dead.

Ever Wondered What People Think of Not-at-home Letters and Obit Letters?
by blondie inhttps://www.patheos.com/blogs/thefreethinker/2019/10/op-ed-intruders/.
here are some excerpts of a man who was called on by 2 young female jws, received a not-at-home letter as well, and what he thought about them.
i encourage you to read the whole thing, it is worth the laugh.. "it wasn’t pompeo knocking but he would have beamed approval on the two young women on the doorstep.

I don't think most people are offended by JWs except when they encounter JWs who won't take no for an answer.

Reasoning book, p. 201: "No collections are ever taken at their meetings; they do not beg for money from the public."
Oh, right. They don't beg.
They just "mention the privilege of supporting the Kingdom work financially."

Did you EVER falsify your report card ?
by Chook inevery single watchtower soldier lied to god out of fear of the brooklyn popes..
-
Ding
When you think about it, the whole thing is absurd -- measuring someone's spirituality by the number of hours they put down on a report card.
All the more so when you consider that even with honest reporting, the vast majority of reported time is spent walking, waiting, and not talking with anyone about anything...

How are you going to respond if they ask you if your decreased activity is because you're having doubts about the borg?
Better have a contingency plan for that...

I am thinking about visiting Washington DC!
by Iamallcool ini have never been there!
where should i visit in washington dc while i am there?
thank you in advance for your recommendations!

Depends on what you're interested in and how much time you have. Prioritize.
There's lot to see:
1. White House
2. Congress
3. Supreme Court
4. National Archives
5. Washington Monument
6. Lincoln Memorial
7. Jefferson Memorial
8. Smithsonian
9. Ford's Theater (where Lincoln was short) and Peterson House (where Lincoln died)
Across the bridge behind the Lincoln Memorial, there's Arlington National Cemetery.
There's lots more, but the above ought to keep you plenty busy.

Sometimes I think the WT goes out of its way to find more people to kick out.
