Who really is to blame for the marriage breakdowns?
by Quarterback inanother young couple has bit the dust, in our congregation.
that's close to 20.. we'll probably hear a special needs talk, and of course the couple will be counselled to get back together, and they are not scripturally free to marry.. comments will be made that it's is the fault of the younger ones, today.
apparently younger ones are selfish, but, are they?.

EXACTLY Julia. We are so on the same wavelength!
But back to the OP....As Quarterback said, there are many burdens on marriages today. I feel very sorry for people who might be able to make a marriage work somehow not make it due to a variety of factors. So many marriages end in divorce today. That makes me very sad.

Experience regarding Elders being spirit appointed
by Comatose ini was told recently about a situation where an elder did not get recommended to serve upon moving to a new hall.
i think he left for a job.
but, something internal politics happened in the old hall and he was not recommended.

We do, Julia. We really do. When people talk about the gay lifestyle, I never understand what they mean. What does my lifestyle entail? I get up in the morning. Put the dog out. Make my tea. Brush my teeth. Shower. Get ready. Wake the kids up (I have three). Get them ready for school, fed, and then the school commute starts. Get myself to work. Work all day. Pick them up after school. Home. Make sure homework is done. Dinner. Clean up. Herd everyone upstairs for bathtime. Get ready for bed. Go to sleep. Next day: Repeat.
I can't see how my life is any different than anyone else's. And, if I get married someday, how that impacts others. But so many others have some pretty crazy thoughts about what being gay is all about.

Evidently, Jehovah is directing the elders from the old congregation. They are not working against the spirit. No! They are directed by the spirit to call the new congregation. And, if ever there is an error caused by our imperfections, it's important to wait on Jehovah and all will be made right eventually.
No problemo! It's all good.

I was listening to Pat Robertson, and apparently, gays and gay marriage are to blame for anything and everything bad that happens at the moment. That's got to be it. Right?

Do NOT get baptised. Save yourself and your family a lot of grief by NOT doing it. Who cares if the person studying with you will feel that time was wasted. They are counting their time with you, giving them brownie points. They benefit from "your arrangement" far more than you ever will.
As far as the goals, simply decline to accept those as your goals. State clearly that you do not feel that his goals for you are your goals. You want to take your time to read and study. This isn't something you take lightly and will not be rushed based on someone else's idea of an appropriate timeline. Say thanks, but no thanks. A study is fine for now, but no other goals, please.
And regardless of goals or no goals, just don't get dunked. Period. You are surely able to stall for time. And if everyone is pushing hard, when you have conversations with the elders, you can state this isn't what you feel is appropriate for now, and you feel that others are forcing you into this. Put it back on them.
Finally, even if someone has driven you to the assembly and escorted you in, don't get in the damn pool.
Stay dry,
Lav

JWs AT YOUR DOOR - A Sample Dialogue
by Vanderhoven7 inafter listing to their message.
thank you for sharing, but i must say that it seems to me that much of your religion is not in harmony with the bible..
well for example, many of your organization's policies and practices related to baptism are not in keeping with the example set by the apostles..
