One of the best and saddest quotes in a very long while: " Jehovah's Witnesses have a religion that is fundamentally at war with the basic family structure, and unfortuneately we are the collateral damage."

Your worst store accident?
by Apognophos inmine: i was walking around a grocery store with one of those snapple iced tea boxes dangling from one hand, looking for the other thing i ran in to buy.
suddenly the flimsy cardboard side of the box came unglued, and bottles dumped out, smashing open on the floor.
a river of iced tea began to run down the aisle.

I went to Safeway to do my weekly shopping. One of my daughters who was just under three years old at the time liked to walk alongside the cart. She was not yet fully potty trained and wore a diaper still (just in case). At home, she'd just reach under her dress, pull the diaper tabs and let it drop to the ground. I was trying to break her of that habit.
Anyway, we spent a good hour in the store doing our shopping and when we got back out to the car, I picked her up, and when I went to put her in the car, all I got was bare bum on my hand rather than a padded diaper. I looked at her, and asked her where her diaper was. She indicated it was in the store. She'd gone potty and simply reached under her dress, pulled the tabs, let it drop and kept walking unbeknownst to me!
I was horrified. I picked her up, and walked toward the store. But then I realized we had been in there for an hour. I had no idea at what point she'd done this. What would I say? "Excuse, me, did anyoen find a dirty diaper in one of aisles? Well, it's OURS. We're here for it." I decided to get right back in the car and head straight home.
All I could think of after that is someone coming along, seeing a dirty diaper in the aisle and thinking "What kind of filthy person would do this?" That's what I would have thought.

Anyone else an Ex Bethel "volunteer"
by BackseatDevil ini was wondering if there were any other ex-bethelites on here.
i personally regularly went for temporary work at brooklyn then was assigned to the farm for a year and a half.
it was... one of the most bizaare experiences of my life.. so i wrote it all down (finally, after some 15 years) so i won't bore anyone on here with the details of the story - because bethel doesn't show up until chapter 15... and for you straight folks, it gets a bit gay in two places... but nothing gross.

Backseat - if it's ok, I'd like to share an experience with you. I have visited Bethel many times, as I am from a very zealous family. I've eaten at Bethel. I've visited the Farm. We've had close family friends at Bethel. Bethel was part of my childhood (or at least a portion of it, especially the teenage years). But here's my last experience:
After I came out as gay in college, I visited NYC with my college boyfriend. We were both "college age" and he wanted to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. I was like "oh man, I know what's on the other side!" Anyway, after we got across the bridge, and as we walked into WTBTS terriroty, he wanted to hold hands. I thought, "oh why the heck not?" There were so many Bethelites on the streets. SO many of them had not just disgusted looks on their faces, but also made fun of us and called us terrible names. At a certain point, I actually felt it was dangerous and we could be attacked by the "brothers." It wound up being a very scary experience. That was in the 90s.

It's sad. But it's very unhealthy and I hope you can get away from these letters and find some peace. Sending good thoughts your way sosoconfused.

Let's lighten things up a little
by JeffJ insince many of us in the us are watching the clock before a holiday i thought i would resurrect a topic that has been dealt with in the forums in the past but not for a couple years.
pranks.. i spend a large amount of time thinking up pranks for revenge or just for the heck of it to amuse myself.
i will post the ones i remember to hopefully make everyone's day brighter.. first off, one of the concrete bases anchoring a fence in my back yard started crumbling and the fence post started to lean.

There are some funny pranks on youtube (and some pretty crappy ones as well). Has anyone seen anything good online recently?
